Perfect Upgrade
Went from a 2001 Nissan Frontier SE DR to the 2005 CC Nismo. It's a great ride and my gas mileage is better. Even though it's a Nismo Off Road it still rides better than my old 2001. Plenty of power if I need it. Can take it on a road trip and really enjoy the ride. Don't plan on much off roading but it may help here in the mountains in the winter.
Awesome Truck
Great Truck, have already put over a thousand miles on it in two weeks, and drives great in the snow, great pick up, and very fast. Test drove all other midsize trucks, and this one is the best. I am very very happy with my purchase. This would be great choice for anyone to make.

It's nice
I just purchased this truck and love every bit of it. I have driven a Nissan Frontier since Nov. of 1999. That truck was, and still is extremely reliable so I thought I would give the new one a chance. I love it! I gave my brother, who just turned 16, the 1999 model Nissan. I have never even had the slightest problem with the old frontier. It has 95000 miles on it and have only replaced the battery once, and have never even replaced the main belt. I expect the same out of this truck. I really enjoy the upgrade from the 4cyl to the 6cyl. This thing will get up and go. I think I made a good decision for a first car purchase.
Lamaeque Nissan
This is my first Frontier and I love it. I was used to Toyota's (Good Trucks) but I have to say that the Frontier beats them all.
you gotta get this truck
I have only had this truck for 2 months but it is AWESOME...265 horsepower on a mid size truck. this thing hauls butt. It is solid, well built, fun, and The looks i get at every light, people keep asking me about it and are impressed by the looks of this truck. I was not impressed by the looks of the full size titan but it works on this truck. it is a guys truck nothing wimpy about it at all..it handles beautifuly but you still have the truck feel due to its heavy duty frame
great value for a mid-size truck
I was thrilled when the new design Frontier finally came out. Think of it as a smaller Titan. The LE model is loaded and still sells for under 30K. It handles well and has great pick-up thanks to the new 265hp V6. The back seats in the crew cab are fairly large for a mid-size.... Large enough for 2 large people or 3 average sized adults. Electronic 4WD switch is nice too.
Works 4 Me
I really like this truck. It has all of the utility of an SUV and just enough accessories to be an effective work truck, plus its a NISSAN. This thing will run forever. Let's put it this way, I traded a 2001 Trans Am for a Frontier and I loved that Trans Am. Only detractor is the interior color. It's a light tan and all of the dirt show up. My two year old has made sure of that.
Oh what a feeling . . . Nissan!!!
Simply put the 2005 Nissan Frontier is an excellent truck at an even better price. It is far less expensive than a comparable Toyota Tacoma. The new V6 with automatic are a smooth and powerful combo. The frame is solid and the 4WD works great (I just tried it out in a blizzard). The base LE model has all the options most people will ever need. I am 6'3 and even with the front seat all the way back there is room for me to sit it the backseat. this truck is a tremendous improvement over many other 'small' trucks. Although I haven't used the utilitrack system yet it appears to be very well thought out and the adjustable tie downs are perfect for securing cargo. Also, the dealership was the best i've ever dealt with.
I love it!
Test drove both Tacoma and Frontier and decided on Frontier due to more comfortable ride, nicer interior, availability (Need to wait 3 months for Tacoma), price (about $4000 more for comparably equipped Tacoma), and more power. The Frontier has a quieter cabin and the bed is traditional steel with a sprayed on liner which is not slippery like the Tacoma's plastic liner. The utilitrac is very strong and durable and seems like it can hold a heavy load. Had six mountain bikes and six people on board and it didn't break a sweat driving uphills in the mountains. Very strong and smooth V6. Test drive both and see for yourself. All other trucks weren't even considered.
New Frontier...1 year later
Overall I am very happy w/this truck. I love the high seating position and powerful engine. The mileage is disappointing for a 6 cylinder, about 14.5 mpg around town, 17-18 on the highway. The turning radius is also too big, bigger than my Chevy Tahoe. The driver's window control switches need to be replaced (under warranty) and a new circuit had to be added to the towing package (at no cost). I feel confident driving this truck in all weather conditions.
great truck
Love the truck, however according to my nissan dealer the power package i got on my se did not include keyless remote, and according to nissan it can't be installed. with no outside door lock on the right side, its very inconvenient without a remote
Typical Nissan Truck...
After a year, the truck has impressed the hell outta me. I went with it over the Tacoma which I like a lot as well but the Nissan was black, so I had to get it. The truck is what it is; a tough tank of a truck, nothing you don't need, simple, great design, and super powerful. The price is right and it holds its value well. I'm hoping to keep this thing for a long long time at least until we can get one with a diesel! The paint is a bit weak and does chip behind the doors near the fender flares, but hey it's a truck. Also, mine didn't have keyless entry and i got it from eBay for 7 bucks, so stop complaining people! I use it daily and love this truck, excited to drive it everyday
No Regrets - Get One!
If you are in the market for a midsize truck, the Nismo Frontier should be your only consideration. It is FUN to drive and it looks great. The Tacoma pales in comparison to my Nismo. It has good low-end torque to get you off the line, the bedliner and bed extender provide plenty of utility, and the interior is surprisingly comfortable. I upgraded to the audio package and the stereo system sounds exceptionally well. I have no regrets in buying this truck and neither will you. I've yet to meet someone that doesn't like my truck.
Awesome Truck
Great Truck, have already put over a thousand miles on it in two weeks, and drives great in the snow, great pick up, and very fast. Test drove all other midsize trucks, and this one is the best. I am very very happy with my purchase. This would be great choice for anyone to make.
my new truck
I bought this truck bran new. used edmunds.com to find a fair price bought truck at 23,000 a little lower than the tmv pricing report given on the web site im very happy with the truck performs very well is good on gas and the eye. even the rather standard model has nice qualty with a few good opitions i would recommend this truck over its counterparts from japan and america. the nicest mid sized truck for the money
Exceeds my expectations
I've owned my LE '05 CC for just over 4 months now (first truck ever) and couldn't be happier. The truck sells itself, even impressing some dyed-in-the-wool american brand only types. I think this truck might last as long as my old volvo (200k+ miles). As for the reviewers complaining about the ride, you really need to ride in a sport sedan like my wife's Maxima SE!! If you want a car that floats along the road, you need to buy a Lincoln.
Great but...
Fantastic truck. I have two complaints: 1) Fosgate stereo has great sound but unless you use the satelite hookup (very expensive) you have 2 AM radio bands and only 1 FM - no sense there. The other is the weight of the tailgate. If not fully latched and falls while driving it may bend the sheet metal in the lower corners of the tailgate - has happened to me twice. Needs to be lighter or have a counterweight to keep gate from "banging" down.
Piece of Junk - Never again
I thought I'd save a few thousand by buying a NISSAN over a TOYOTA, and thought the Nissan would be reliable like the Toyota. No way. First 30k miles the fuel sender went. $400. Then the windshield washer tank sprung a leak. Now, at 80K miles the transmission went, cause the trans cooler in the radiator cracked, allowing a transfer of fluids between cooling system & trans. $4500. Not to mention missed work, time wasted, etc.
4 Months w/My Frontier
I have had my Frontier since the beginning of February. It is very comfortable, functional, and fun to drive. The mileage is disappointing, only about 14 mpg around town. I added a Roll-n-Lok cover for the bed and it's like having a huge trunk.
mid sized monster
lots of added power this year that will suprise owners of earlier models.interior is roomy and is nicely laid out.exterior has a full sized truck look to it.
The Best Truck
I bought the 2005 Nissan Frontier right when it came out after I saw the new design. With all the horsepower and new features and design, I LOVE THIS TRUCK! it is so smooth on the freeway and hauling capability with the tie-down straps, its unbelieveable. I've driven all the trucks before i drove the nissan frontier like the Ford Ranger which was way too whimpy and i drove the mazda truck which didnt have the comfort and then i drove the chevy colorado and it just never had the options and then I finally drove the Frontier. It was all I wanted and more! SO MANY OPTIONS YOU CAN PUT INTO IT ALSO! This is a great truck and I would take it over any other mid-size truck on the market.
Greatest Truck
I have owned many pick-ups but this is the finest. My previous vehicle was a 2002 Frontier SE Crew Cab and was no comparison to the 2005. The 2005 is a most impressive vehicle in terms of build quality, power, handling, ride, just everything! I looked and compared Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Dodge and GMC and there was absolutely NO COMPARISON! They all fell well short of the Frontier in all areas. The Ford and Dodge were really inferior in every way, do yourself a favor and drive the Frontier and you will buy it.
On Road-Off Road
While being the most comfortable truck I have owned it has one major flaw in the heating controls. When you put the heat control knob to floor only the hot air still comes out the A/C vents and makes it very uncomfortable, this feature keeps the feet and legs cold in very cold weather and your upper body too warm. Nissan service rep has told me this is the way they are built, and Nissan refuses to get back to me after several calls. Also there are a couple of spots where dirt was painted over at the factory. Overall the truck does very well in off road performances as well as a nice ride on hard surfaces. Ed Jarecki
me
drive about 55-60 miles a day. it gets right in to the flow of trafic very well. i get about 270 to 300 miles by 1/2 a tank.
2005 Nissan Frontier King Cab LE
Our new Frontier LE is an absolute joy to drive. The powerful engine is incredible, yet the ride is quite comfortable around town or on the freeway. The interior is extremely well thought-out, with compartments everwhere and with (mostly) well- placed controls for the driver. The seats are comfortably supportive. The factory bedliner with Utili-track system is extremely versatile for carrying almost anything and the locking tailgate latches nicely with no concious thought required (unlike my brother's Ford Ranger). I've only had it a month so I cannot comment on reliability yet. I am only getting 22 mpg on freeway trips, but at least it can use regular gas without a problem. Looks nice, too.
Favorite Truck Ever!!!
I have owned 4-Nissan trucks prior to my recent Nismo purchase and if Nissan keeps building like this I'll be back for another! This is by far my favorite one. The Rockford Fosgate, XM, Snrf, roofrack, bug-guards, bed extenders etc etc are great! I went for Aztec red and love it. I get compliments on it alot. I looked at the Toyota but they don't offer sunroofs and the Frontier just looks better. Other than minor a minor squeek in the dash this ruck is awesome. I love to drive it every chance I get and it pulls my 19' ski boat nicely. Good Job Nissan!
05 Frontier CC SE 6spd V6
I researched and researched this truck as well as others, and I will have to say it was an easy choice. Cheaper, and more unique than the other trucks out there, and a very smooth ride all around. Also, it is basically a sports car in a truck body. The gears catch very quickly, almost a short throw sometimes! And, averaging 16.5 mpg strictly town is not bad for the size of this thing. Best choice ive made yet!
Love this truck
I waited for a long time to purchase a midsize truck and I am glad I did. Love this truck. Love the horsepower. Love the exterior design. Love the quality. Love the build in tie-down system in the truckbed. GREAT vehicle so far.
Best in class
I drove the Frontier and the Tacoma - the frontier was my favorite by far (although some of that had to do with the sales guy). The v6 has power to spare, the seats are comfortable, and I'm getting 19 mpg mixed driving, which is about what my old Volvo 740GL was getting. Couldn't be happier with this truck.
'05 Frontier
This is a great truck so far. Just got over 1,000 miles. Gas mileage is very close to the rated 15/20, although you can do better if you take it easy. Everything is where it needs to be. Only problem is a rattle in the dash. It only does it when it is cold and near idle. If I turn on the defroster, the rattle stops. Wanting to get it fixed but not looking foward to the dealer tearing into my dash. Would still buy the truck again. Drove the Tacoma and the Nissan just feels bigger.
WHAT A GREAT TRUCK!!!!
I got this truck with the 6 spd manual and is a blast to drive! 0-60 takes about 2 seconds less than my 2003 Frontier I traded in. The seats are great, better than 2003. I liked my 3-gauge cluster from 2003 better, though, but the interior is mainly better. Front end in a little ugly from certain angles. Also the backseat is a major improvement from previous models. Over all this truck, is the best truck truck I've owned.(I've owned all Nissans:1982,1993,2003, and now 2005.)
better than most...but not perfect...
The Frontier is a Chryler Roadrunner. A very powerful package surrounded by metal, plastic, and a basic interior that keep the price down. If I sell this vehicle earlier than originally planned, it will be due to lack of front seat comfort.
mco
excellent truck. needs more detailing inside. confort and computer panel on le should be more uptodate.
Great Truck
This is an awesome truck! Fun to drive and great performance from the new 4.0 V6. Back seat is almost comfortable for a large adult but I dont know if I would want to be back there for a long trip. Only one complaint: The only way I can unlock my doors is from the drivers side door. No unlocking mechanism on the passenger side. The truck has power door locks but no Key Fob remotes to unlock them and this is not a dealer oversight. And here is the kicker all you need to have keyless entry is the Key Fob Remote. What was Nissan thinking? The put the receiver for the keyless entry in the truck but did not include the Keyless remote. You can buy the remotes from Nissan for $137.50 each.
First time Nissan owner
Wanted a mid-size truck and have always purchased from the big 3 auto- makers. The Nissan and Toyota stood out from the big 3. Went with the Nissan Frontier based on re-disgn similiar to the Titan. I could not be happier. The truck is great, comfort, room, features, ride, it has it all. I have purchased the sliding bed extender and the cargo space is very usable, (the design thought on the bed is great, spray on bed liner, c- channels and cargo straps are all standard). The power on this truck is hard to beat. Yes, it is a heavy "mid- size" truck, but you will not notice when you step on the gas. You will not be disappointed with the 2005 Nissan Frontier.
05 Frontier = Best Mid-Size Pickup
After driving every mid-size truck out there, including the new 05 Tacoma 3 times, the 05 Frontier had the best performance, exterior and interior looks! It lso offered more features that Tacoma didn't, like power/heated seats, leather, and power moonroof! A blast to drive!
Best truck yet!
I love this truck! After 4 months of ownership, it's still a blast to drive and so nice to look at. Very off road capable and comfortable. My previous truck was an '03 Tacoma xtra cab 4x4. I was perfectly happy with that until driving this truck. I'm so glad that Nissan is getting back on track creating exciting and and attractive vehicles again! It reminds me of the products they had in the early 90's. Keep up the good work Nissan!
Why not to buy a frontier
I have had nothing but problems with this truck, the suspension had been squeaking since about 3,000 miles and the dealer hasn't been able to fix it, there have been several recalls, as well as many adjustments made to the doors to keep them from hitting other panels. Overall it is a fun truck to drive, but a pain to own. This truck had been at the dealer a total of 22 days having problems fixed.
best truck ever
this is by far the best truck i've ever owned. no more american made for me!!!
New 05 Frontier
Have had the truck one month on4-28. No complaints so far. Does well in the snow. Really like the vdc and limited slip. Roomy cab is really nice. Gas mileage is around 15.5 to 16.7, I just turned 1000 miles so I hope this will improve around 5000. The trip computer is nice. I have mine set on the mpg setting as it makes me try and get the most. I replaced the original rugged terrain ta's with the all terrain ta's and I like the feel better. They seem smoother on the freeway and I know they will be better in bad weather. No difference in mpg or road noise that I can tell. All Round Great Truck Cheers!
2005 Nissan Frontier SE 4x2
I have put almost 13,000 miles on this truck since purchasing new in Aug. 2005. The milage is a good mix of highway and city driving. Overall the truck is a solid performer. I haven't hauled anything really heavy but what I have hauled did not strain it in the least. The cockpit has a real nice feel with easy access to everything. Plenty of storage space for all the junk you would need to carry. Driving on the highway is great at higher speeds. It doesn't have a lack of get up and go. Short hauls with passengers is about all I would suggest. The seats are comfortable. Overall craftsmanship is top notch.
Tacoma Killer!
I love the Nissan Frontier! I have had other Nissan trucks in the past and test drove the 2005 Toyota Tacoma, but the Frontier tops them all. Nissan did their homework and learned a lot from the Titan. The powerful 265hp 4.0 V6 engine pulls hard to 60mph+. The 5 speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and never hunts for the right gear. There is a solid graceful feel to the chasis and it handles corners very well. The build quality is excellent and the cab is very quiet and roomy. This truck drives and feels much like it's big brother, the Titan. The Rockford Fosgate package has a great sound, it is a must! The quality of interior materials are very good. This truck has become a major player in the midsize class! THANK YOU NISSAN!
Toyota Killer
I shopped Toyota and many other products from the American "Big Three" and settled on the 05 Frontier XE. This workhorse has style, class, dependability, a comfy ride amd all appointments in the right place. It outperforms the Toyota Tacomas in every aspect and is priced under Toyota's ( fixed pricing ). Econony is great at 24-25 MPG and the Frontier does not have that "sissy" look that Toyota's do. The ride is like driving a nice SUV. Pay load is good for a mid size truck too. Fifth gear could use a little more "beef" but a small bother compared to the overall performance of the Frontier. I would recommend it to any one. I'll get 200,000 or more miles of great service from this vehicle.
Great truck
Just took it off roading a few days ago. It was great!!! I took my Basset hounds(80lbs each) and my gear and couple of my friends and still had lots of power to spare. This truck is improved from 2004 models definately but I think 2004's look better. This is a fun vehicle to drive and I think that it should be the best selling truck on the market this year. Thanks Nissan for a great truck!!!
Love it
Been looking at trucks for a while. Decided on Nissan because of build quality, passanger space, and power. Mileage is low in the whole spectum of cars, but for V6 trucks its on the higher end. If you want better mileage, go get a sedan. Seats are very comfortable, I have not found myself shifting around at all in them. Things i splurged on and am glad i did: moonroof. your head sits fairly close to the ceiling and the moonroof changes the whole interior dynamic. Don't waste your money on anything else becasue aftermarket is much better.
Big Improvement in the Frontier for '05
Just purchased a 4WD Crew Cab. This is a great new truck for Nissan. I compared it to the Tacoma and the Canyon. It is a lot of truck for the money. It was an easy decision. The V6 is powerful. The ride is better than previous years and the exterior is sharp and masculine. Finally looks like a guy's truck.
Nissan got it right!
In 2004 we bought a 2004 Frontier for our daughter in college. In November my husband bought a new 2004 Titan and in December I bought a 2005 Frontier in black. It's an eye catcher and I've had a lot of compliments on it. I drive 100 miles every day and the new '05 Frontier is comfortable, lots of power and I'm getting almost 22 mpg on the highway. Nissan has done an awesome job in the redesign of the Frontier. Of all the trucks we've owned, by far, this is the best one. I'm a convert having been a fan of the Chevy Silverado for many years! I can haul a two horse trailer with two 1300 lb. horses aboard with this new Frontier with no problem.
Wouldn't trade it for anything else
I'm so glad I bought this truck. I'm the kind of guy who trades vehicles every few years, but the Frontier will have to be pried from my cold, dead hands. During the second year I was concerned about its quality because of a few manufacturing defects that showed up, but Nissan handled them with impeccable professionalism and I haven't had any problems since. It is the first year of this new model, so some issues are to be expected. That aside, the reliability and capability of this truck has been nothing short of outstanding. I have an old Honda that I drive when I'm not towing or hauling, so the fuel economy isn't a major issue for me. When I need the power, it's there, no compromises.
Frontier's on the Forefront
I have owned the LE Crew Cab for 2 weeks. Chose it over Tacoma b/c of better high-end options (sunroof/leather). Acceleration is surprisingly responsive and fast. Interior on LE is very nice, logical, and comfortable. Paid $300 over invoice through federal government car-buying service from local dealer. Very happy with vehicle.
Best value
This is my fourth Nissan King Cab. I expect this one to last as long. The last one went 164K when the insurance totaled it. The prior truck has 278K and is still running with only standard maintenance. The new V6 is great and I am avg. 22.1 mpg city/hwy. I need a truck for work & look at overall longterm cost. Vehicle quality compares to my other cars, an Acura and a Boxster.
