My 2005 CC Nismo 4X2
I really enjoy driving this truck. I had a 2001 Nissan Frontier that really enjoyed but this truck has it beat by a mile. The 4.0 265 hp works well with 5 speed auto tranny.I can now pass another car with confidence. Plenty of power to go around.Even though it has a short bed the extender works good for me.Went on a 1500 mile trip and the truck did very well.Have not been off roading as of yet will see how that does later. It's like having a big truck without the size.
2005 frontier king
Nice truck so far, took a 700 mile trip in it this past weekend, ran great for a truck getting really good gas mileage. Small on passing power, but will run good in upper 80-90mph. She's not shy, but don't think you're gonna be passing real easy.

Fronty drives fine
Plenty of power. Drives very smooth. Wife loves the truck (it's her driver). Does a very comfortable 80 mph. Quiet inside. Stereo rocks (RockyFos). Leather interior seats.
Love it!
Was evaluating the Tacoma vs. Frontier. Liked both, but Nissan offered more luxury features at a better price, and the drive on the Frontier felt a bit smoother and acceleration was more responsive. So far I am very happy with my decision. I love the styling and handling of the truck, and enjoy the versatility (this is my first truck). Gas mileage is about 18 mpg. Not great with the rising prices, but better than I expected. No doubt I made the right choice. This is a great truck!
My CC 05 Frontier LE
Although I've only had this truck for 6 weeks (just over 1,000 miles), I am very pleased with the performance, quality, and the way it's equipped. the size is just right for my taste and use. So far, a great truck.
frontier
I enjoy the overall look and the handling of the vehicle. Also, the rockford sound system is a good addition to the truck.
JBS3
I tried a Toyota and the Frontier felt more what I look for in a truck. It handles very well. The breaking system with 4 wheel disks are excellent with no pull or noise. The design of the cargo bed is outstanding. The bed is coated and the extended bed with the cargo tie down system gives you fexability. The power is most impressive. I have to drive in Philadelphia and they are the most selfish and inconsiderate drivers. Because of the power I am less likely to be cut off when pulling onto a highway, something that happened to me all the time. My past Frontier had 169,000 miles on it, original clutch. I hope this one gives me the same reliability.
Love it
Great truck! If you are looking a new midsize you must put this truck on your list. lots of room and explosive power from the V6. Very quiet cab and if you love music you must get the Rockford package. One drive is all it will take to.
Silver NISMO
I have been driving my NISMO Crew Cab 2X4 for 3000 miles and it is a pure joy! The power is great, first class transmission, the suspension is nice and tight, the looks are right on, and quality is perfect. Nissan did a great job building a truck for all the "truck" reasons and not a cross- over or pretending to be a car. This thing is solid as a rock, has room for the family, can pull/drag anything, and run with sports cars. What else would anyone want in a truck?
My First Truck
This is my first truck and I think I made a great choice. This truck is great. It has a comfortable ride, a smooth tranny and looks great. The stereo is first rate. The controls are easy to operate even with gloves on. I test drove an 03 Toyota but went with a new Nissan. My wife calls it Stewie.
Great truck for the money
The Frontier is a roomy, powerful mid- size 4x4 truck. It will seat five comfortably, has a decent sound system and smooth ride. Like most pick-ups you have to pay attention driving in bad weather. I'm averaging about 15 mpg (with a six speed). A good truck for the money
This is "The Truck"
This truck has been nothing but stellar! From daily driving to some serious off roading, the 05 Frontier has done nothing but amaze me. When I first heard about the truck I almost overlooked the truck, only because I'm not a fan of the older styling but when I saw it on the lot, I ate my own words. The new body style stands out in a crowd, especially with the NISMO package. Of course, the body style isn't the whole package. The new VQ40DE engine is a real power house and doesn't require premium fuel. This engine performs, hands down. Interior is comfortable and looks geat. Not too much cab noise other than the tires (What do you expect with A/Ts?). Any other tricks for the competition nissan?
Great Re-design!
This is the finest truck I have ever owned (7 previous) and has a level of refinement that it amazing. Acceleration and handling are first-rate, as are the interior design and ergonomics. Fuel economy is good for a truck (17/21 actual). I usually don't like to buy a first-year vehicle, but it looks like Nissan has done their homework on this one.
Awesome
My dad bought his truck after his 2003 GMC Sierra had transmission problems for the life of the truck. I got to drive the Frontier around and wow, what a cool truck. It's very solid, and handles really well for a truck. The engine has a lot of power, but it doesn't pick up till after the revs get toward 3000 rpm. It has 2 glove compartments and storage between the seats, which is pretty nice too. Gas mileage isn't so great yet.
Happy Nissan Owner
This is my 3rd Nissan and I'll never again buy anything other brand. My truck is sturdy and safe. Handles very well in all types of road & weather conditions. Has plenty of power and I can hold my own on the Interstate with the 18 wheelers. Driver's seat is very comfortable for my bad back. I've had no expenses outside of routine maintenance with any of the 3 Nissans. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Frontier to anyone looking for a reliable pick up truck.
Perfect Upgrade
Went from a 2001 Nissan Frontier SE DR to the 2005 CC Nismo. It's a great ride and my gas mileage is better. Even though it's a Nismo Off Road it still rides better than my old 2001. Plenty of power if I need it. Can take it on a road trip and really enjoy the ride. Don't plan on much off roading but it may help here in the mountains in the winter.
bad truck
my nissan is extremely powerful..plenty of room for the family and tows my 20 foot boat extremely easily. for the price and the name nissan! this truck cant be beat
NISMO2NV
If you want a good allround daily driver that doesn't mind rough roads and getting down and digging with it on the weekends you have found the right truck. I have owned my truck for about 6 months now no problems I love the style, its a head turner I had a guy in a newer model vette giving it the look :) Only major problem is the gas milage but what do u expect out of a V6 pushing HP numbers of V8's good vision I am a young driver but I see out well and can maneuver this truck pretty well. Not the same truck as the 04's no comparison they should have changed the name of it, it really exceeded my expectations.
05 Nismo is Super
So far, quite pleased with the NISMO 4x4 Crew Cab. It has plenty of power on the highway both for passing and entrance ramps. It has a comfortable ride and handles well. I've taken it off-road a few times in the GW National Forest where it performs well. Took it up a steep hill with lots of lose rocks and gravel but it didn't hesitate. Have tried the hill descent but haven't needed the locking differential yet. It did bottom out a couple times - perhaps I was going too fast for the humps. After driving 4 Runners for 20+ years,I decided on the NISMO because I wanted a pickup this time and the Tacoma needs premium gas.
Best Truck Ever!
Originally thought of purchasing a Colorado, until I drove both. Wish the Frontier had the Orange color of the Colorado, but am very happy with what I got (Black). Green lights are fun again, mountain trips are a pleasure again, the ride is awesome, the power is great, and after the engine started to break in, the mileage got better! Don't know what you're looking for. But if it's for a truck you could pass down to your kid, the '05 Frontier is it. Have the dealer add the remotes for keyless entry (doesn't come with remotes from the factory), as they're pricey ($158 each). Test drove the Tacoma and the Colorado. Love the power of the Frontier and ruggedness of the body. Won't look back!
The 2005 Nissan Frontier
This is the best truck I think I will ever own. My boyfriend has a 2000 Nissan Frontier, and all of our friends have variouse year model Frontiers and we all love them. We will keep these trucks after we get newer Nissans as a second vehicle for whatever purpose it may be needed for. We will own nothing other than a Nissan.
The Prime Truck
Too much low quality plastic inside easy to break. Engine noise after 4 months, it starts when RPM hits 2200, unable to fix by dealer and not recognize by Nissan as defect. It does not affect performance, but it's annoying.
Nissan SE 4 Door Crew 2WD Auto (Awesome)
This truck is fantastic. It really moves out. I just got out of a very good running Chevy S-10 4.3 V6. There is no comparison in size, comfort, build quality, or performance. I am all around very pleased. The ONLY draw back i have found is that for taller drivers (I'm 6'3" tall) the seat sits up too high in the truck and is not adjustable downward. Once you get used to the higher seating, it is okay. I have really enjoyed driving the truck so far, withonly 1700 miles on it. The truck is FAST! It really likes to show its strength way up in the RPM range. I have the tow package, but have not had a chance to pull my trailer with it, yet. Much nicer than the 05 Tacoman in my opinion
you gotta get this truck
I have only had this truck for 2 months but it is AWESOME...265 horsepower on a mid size truck. this thing hauls butt. It is solid, well built, fun, and The looks i get at every light, people keep asking me about it and are impressed by the looks of this truck. I was not impressed by the looks of the full size titan but it works on this truck. it is a guys truck nothing wimpy about it at all..it handles beautifuly but you still have the truck feel due to its heavy duty frame
Lamaeque Nissan
This is my first Frontier and I love it. I was used to Toyota's (Good Trucks) but I have to say that the Frontier beats them all.
Typical Nissan Truck...
After a year, the truck has impressed the hell outta me. I went with it over the Tacoma which I like a lot as well but the Nissan was black, so I had to get it. The truck is what it is; a tough tank of a truck, nothing you don't need, simple, great design, and super powerful. The price is right and it holds its value well. I'm hoping to keep this thing for a long long time at least until we can get one with a diesel! The paint is a bit weak and does chip behind the doors near the fender flares, but hey it's a truck. Also, mine didn't have keyless entry and i got it from eBay for 7 bucks, so stop complaining people! I use it daily and love this truck, excited to drive it everyday
New Frontier...1 year later
Overall I am very happy w/this truck. I love the high seating position and powerful engine. The mileage is disappointing for a 6 cylinder, about 14.5 mpg around town, 17-18 on the highway. The turning radius is also too big, bigger than my Chevy Tahoe. The driver's window control switches need to be replaced (under warranty) and a new circuit had to be added to the towing package (at no cost). I feel confident driving this truck in all weather conditions.
A great truck
After only a week with the truck, I can't offer any long term evaluations, but I can say without reservation that it is easily the finest truck I've ever driven. I love this truck. It's the perfect size, the V-6 engine has all the power I could ever want, and it's a sweet looking ride. The seats are comfortable, the ride gentle, but firm. It's as quiet as most sedans and well manored. The price is reasonable too. The fully loaded Frontier has everything I would ever want in a car or truck.
Still very happy one year later
I realize one year is hardly a long-term test (even though the magazines call it long-term). Still, it's long enough to shake out the bugs and recover from any love-at-first-drive infatuation. I still love driving this truck! The handling beats any 4WD vehicle I've tried, and it has so much power and torque it still sometimes surprises me. The 6- spd gives me the best of both worlds: a very low 1st gear for the steep terrain I live in and for towing, and an overdrive 6th for high-speed rural interstate driving without killing the gas mpg. Besides, the stick is just a blast to control; I'll never buy an automatic unless there is no other choice. No regrets about my purchase!
My first nissan
My first foreign vehicle. Always been a chevy man. Worked for gm for over 23 years. I love this truck. The 265 hoarses are great. I may never go off-road, but i know if i have to, i can. And i can't wait for a serious snow storm!!!!!
Exceeds my expectations
I've owned my LE '05 CC for just over 4 months now (first truck ever) and couldn't be happier. The truck sells itself, even impressing some dyed-in-the-wool american brand only types. I think this truck might last as long as my old volvo (200k+ miles). As for the reviewers complaining about the ride, you really need to ride in a sport sedan like my wife's Maxima SE!! If you want a car that floats along the road, you need to buy a Lincoln.
Consumers Dream
Love to drive this vehicle. First new truck I've ever had and I'm 50. I live in a rural area with dirt roads and you can't tell where the dirt ends and the pavement begins. I've taken it through thick mud and water with no problem in handling. The 4 speed automatic transmission shifts without you even noticing. I've filled the bed with bricks and lumber and it still handles like it was empty. This truck was made for Home Depot runs. I love the interior. I have never seen an interior fabric like this. Excellant! I think my next truck will be a Nissan if this one ever wares out.
Frontier Crew Cab 4wd 6spd
This is a great truck! I was all set to buy the toyota but hesitated at the price and unwillingness of the dealership to make a deal. After directly comparing both trucks side by side at the dealershp and driving them back to back, I thought the Nissan was a better truck, and a better price. I have hauled huge loads, taken long road trips and even rallycrossed the truck and it never lets me down. Its just a great utility vehicle and just happens to be fun to drive as well.
2005 Nissan Frontier King Cab LE
Our new Frontier LE is an absolute joy to drive. The powerful engine is incredible, yet the ride is quite comfortable around town or on the freeway. The interior is extremely well thought-out, with compartments everwhere and with (mostly) well- placed controls for the driver. The seats are comfortably supportive. The factory bedliner with Utili-track system is extremely versatile for carrying almost anything and the locking tailgate latches nicely with no concious thought required (unlike my brother's Ford Ranger). I've only had it a month so I cannot comment on reliability yet. I am only getting 22 mpg on freeway trips, but at least it can use regular gas without a problem. Looks nice, too.
me
drive about 55-60 miles a day. it gets right in to the flow of trafic very well. i get about 270 to 300 miles by 1/2 a tank.
05 Frontier CC SE 6spd V6
I researched and researched this truck as well as others, and I will have to say it was an easy choice. Cheaper, and more unique than the other trucks out there, and a very smooth ride all around. Also, it is basically a sports car in a truck body. The gears catch very quickly, almost a short throw sometimes! And, averaging 16.5 mpg strictly town is not bad for the size of this thing. Best choice ive made yet!
proud owner
The Nissan Frotier i hought was gonna be this bulky car i wouldnt be able to park on a busy city street but in reality it is so easy to drive, the smoothness of the ride is remarkable, going 0-60mph in 7.5 secs and on to 80 fairly quick for a truck. The off road capability is amazing, even though lacking the nismo performance on the Le it handles it own while enjoying the comforts of the leather seats.i brought it to the beach and didnt even need to air down or reverse to shift gears,i just drove in and on to the sand no problems no hesitation.Nissan outdid it self with the styling by creating a big tuff looking truck to match up with american trucks while maintaing its stylish import routes
Fuel Emissions Control Valve
my wife drives this truck to her work on a farm, and the roads are somtimes muddy. there was a build up of dirt and mud on the emissions control box on the drivers side rear wheel on the inside of the frame which caused the service engine light to come on, this build up of dirt cause the engine emissions control valve to fail. Bad disign on Nissans part, there should be some sort of fender gaurd to prevent the build up of mud on the emissions box. Great truck just don't drive in the mud to much.
Best in class
I drove the Frontier and the Tacoma - the frontier was my favorite by far (although some of that had to do with the sales guy). The v6 has power to spare, the seats are comfortable, and I'm getting 19 mpg mixed driving, which is about what my old Volvo 740GL was getting. Couldn't be happier with this truck.
Sports Car Power in a Compact Truck
Right from the first start of the engine, I knew that the 2005 Nissan Frontier was one of a kind. This truck has sports car power with the versatility of a compact truck. The speed of this thing is incredibile for this size of vehicle. The ride is smooth and almost the quality of the Maxima except it has larger tires. I know I will be more than pleased with this vehicle. Typically, Nissan's compact trucks are very reliable. I also test drove an 2005 Toyota Tacoma and it was no comparison to the Frontier's power.
2005 Nissan Frontier
What to say? I absolutley love the look of the new Nissan Frontier. That was what first got me interested in it. After I took it for a test drive i had to have it. It has great power and acceleration. I haven't gotten used to the turning radius though. After driving a little Subaru that I could whip into anywhere its takign me a while to get use to learning to swing out more to get into parking spaces, but to me its worth it. The interior is vastly improved from the old model. The Rocksford sound system is awsome. I love being able to play audio CDs, my MP3s, and listen to satellite radio all from the same system. The subs are nice but not overpowering. The seating material is very comfortable and looks like it wears well.
Be very careful!
This truck is a huge headache. I've had an enormous amount of trouble with it. Most of my problems were cosmetic related including a roof leak that Nissan can't seem to fix. Had the seal replaced three times and the windshield replaced once and it still leaks. Along with that the brake master cyl went out at 500 miles, bumper has been replaced twice, belt tensioner has been replaced three times, Window control module needs to be replaced, the timing belt system had to be replaced due to a technical service bulletin (only covered if the vehicle is under warranty). Do yourself a favor and buy a Toyota or Honda. I made the mistake of buying a Nissan because it was less money, bad move!
'05 Frontier
This is a great truck so far. Just got over 1,000 miles. Gas mileage is very close to the rated 15/20, although you can do better if you take it easy. Everything is where it needs to be. Only problem is a rattle in the dash. It only does it when it is cold and near idle. If I turn on the defroster, the rattle stops. Wanting to get it fixed but not looking foward to the dealer tearing into my dash. Would still buy the truck again. Drove the Tacoma and the Nissan just feels bigger.
Outstanding
Went from a 2003 Dodge Dakota to a Frontier, wow what a difference. This truck goes everywhere. With the Dodge I had to watch out where I went, not this baby, it loves to climb mountains. With the Dodge it got 17 mpg. With this baby I get 24 mpg. On trips 26 and its an automatic. The only problem I have is it has power locks with no keyless entry capability. (Safety hazard with kids in the back seat, if the doors are locked and you need to get to them quick, you have to go to the driver side door to get in, (not easy access with locked doors.)).
Best Midsize Truck
The Frontier rides better then our 2001 Buick Lasabre. Smooth quite ride, plenty of muscle in the 4.0 V-6. Comfortable seats. Does have a wide turn radius. Like the hidden storage under the back seats. Dislike the exterior key lock only on the drivers side.
Why not to buy a frontier
I have had nothing but problems with this truck, the suspension had been squeaking since about 3,000 miles and the dealer hasn't been able to fix it, there have been several recalls, as well as many adjustments made to the doors to keep them from hitting other panels. Overall it is a fun truck to drive, but a pain to own. This truck had been at the dealer a total of 22 days having problems fixed.
New 05 Frontier
Have had the truck one month on4-28. No complaints so far. Does well in the snow. Really like the vdc and limited slip. Roomy cab is really nice. Gas mileage is around 15.5 to 16.7, I just turned 1000 miles so I hope this will improve around 5000. The trip computer is nice. I have mine set on the mpg setting as it makes me try and get the most. I replaced the original rugged terrain ta's with the all terrain ta's and I like the feel better. They seem smoother on the freeway and I know they will be better in bad weather. No difference in mpg or road noise that I can tell. All Round Great Truck Cheers!
No regrets whatsoever
I bought my '05 Frontier in October 2005, and I'm still in love with it. It's a great truck for taking your friends to pick up replacement parts for their Fords, Chevys and Dodges when they break down every week. It has about 30,000Km (~18,600 miles) on it and everything is still as tight as new. I put an ARE hinged tonneau cover on it, which is disappointing because the bed is short so you can't reach anything in the back without climbing in, so get a rolling cover and you'll be much happier. Definitely get the step bars too, because the front tires zing rocks at the rear fender flares. You can get great fuel economy if you drive this truck very gently, but... why would you do that? :)
Tacoma Killer!
I love the Nissan Frontier! I have had other Nissan trucks in the past and test drove the 2005 Toyota Tacoma, but the Frontier tops them all. Nissan did their homework and learned a lot from the Titan. The powerful 265hp 4.0 V6 engine pulls hard to 60mph+. The 5 speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and never hunts for the right gear. There is a solid graceful feel to the chasis and it handles corners very well. The build quality is excellent and the cab is very quiet and roomy. This truck drives and feels much like it's big brother, the Titan. The Rockford Fosgate package has a great sound, it is a must! The quality of interior materials are very good. This truck has become a major player in the midsize class! THANK YOU NISSAN!
Frontier..you have come a long way..baby
with only having bought this truck less than a month ago it as been a fantasic vehicle. I had been looking at these for years and decided it was time. I'm glad I waited. The power from the 4.0 is great. Has ton of power and is great to drive, can pull away from a light and leave everyone behind. The 5 speed auto is smooth shifting. I use this truck as my daily commute and it is so comfortable that I can drive it in traffic and not get so tired from driving. The gas mileage could be better avg about 17 mpg. Have had a lot of complements on the truck and have had a few older frontier model owners stop me and want to take a look at the changes. People seem to be very impressed. Thanks Nissan!
