Bad Gas Mileage, Quality, + Depreciation

I can't stress it enough, horrible gas mileage. Much lower than what is displayed on the sticker. Brakes lock up too easily causing unsafe conditions. Poor handling in wet and snowy weather. Gas door latch doesn't work very well and fails to open. Notice the amount of these doors bent open or taken off of Altima's on the road. I only noticed it after mine started not opening. Funny, no recall. Nissan must not be taking responsibility for design flaws. People are prying them open to get gas into the tank. Seating is uncomfortable during long trips. Premature Rusting. Trim popping off for no reason. Again, no recall. Poor Warranty. 36 mo. Bumper to bumper, think again. Overall quality is poor.

This Nissan will probably be our last. We have had 4 sensors go out, the shifter assembly went out and needed to be replaced, the brake rotors were warped when we picked the car up new from the dealer. This car has been nothing but problems.

I've had this car for 18 months and put 17330 miles on it and I like it. It gets 25 mpg in mixed driving and over 30 on hwy! I had a lot of problems with wheel shimmy/vibration from the time I drove it off the lot and let me tell you, I've been to five dealer to get it fixed with most of them acting like I was the problem. I replaced the HORRID continentals with Michelins at 1000 miles. It should be a great car for you as long as you don't need service since it seems a lot of others report the same customer service issues with Nissan dealers. Mine is actually for sale since I'm going back to school full time.

The 2005 Altima looks smooth and luxurious. The things I don't like, it's only because after driving this vehicle for a few months now. They are the display to the radio, when there is sun, you can't even see the radio station and numbers. Needs running daytime lights. The side mirrors needs to fold back, but don't. The temp controls are a bit outdated- I like the digital readout of the Toyota products, like the Camry, Lexus line. The radio reception is very static and poor. the passenger seat needs to be powered. I also dislike the horn sound of the keyless entry system as one review referred to. That's my pet peeves on the Altima.

My brother bought this car brand new back in 05 and he gifted it to me around 2017, it’s still going till this day with about 249k miles on it. However, this car has gone through hell and back with many issues. I’ve gone through a worn out catalytic converter, engine gas flooding, blown head gasket from coolant, as well as a few other unpredicted issues you would expect from such a high mileage vehicle. (worn ignition coil, worn battery cable, etc.) The biggest issue is with the cam sensor which is very common with these altimas... it is the reason my engine light is on, it causes my car to occasionally not start and i have to plug and unplug a little piece in the engine to get it to start all the time. Another common issue is the gas odometer is inaccurate. My car has ran out of gas in the middle of the road because the odometer says that i have more gas than i really have. Transmission very clunky. Grateful that the car has made it this far but i would never try to repurchase this, not even a newer one. and would not recommend anyone to buy altima, i hear bad things all the time about this model in all different years.
