VR4's Rule
I saw this car and I had to have it. It as been my 'baby' ever since. Comfortable, sporty, fast, and handles awsome. Fuel can be a problem, but only if your drive like a madman ;)
1994 3000GT SL
I purchased this car from my Mom in around December of 2002. The car was well taken care of and 90% of mileage was on the highway. The car had 140,000 miles and the repairs to that date were as follows: the timing chain at 60,000 &130,000 miles; the clutch (pressure plate, throw out bearing) at 100,000 miles for $600; the alternator - replaced by myself at 115,000 miles (the parts cost $280 including core exchange); and a few lightbulbs etc. Before this I owned a '97 Mustang GT. This car is so much more refined. The suspension is solid. Although this car is heavy it is hard to tell other than the ride quality and stability at any speed. It is very rewarding to drive quickly but not pushed all the time. Also, it is very good in the snow!

1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT
I purchased my 3000GT 8 years ago and I still feel she is beautiful and very reliable car that I purchased a long time ago, I even can say this car is better looking than many newer cars in the street today.
LOVE IT!
We love this car so much that we can't find a new replacement. We have not had many repair bills. It's at 225,000 miles and we've decided to rebuild that thing and keep it going for years to come. It still turns plenty of heads (even teenagers... goodness). It's just a great ride with a ton of power plus we can carry bunches of stuff.
1994 3000GT / Perfect Style
I purchased my Danube Blue 3000GT about six months ago from the original owner. It is the automatic SL model. I would like to have a VR4, however, this car has only 49k miles and it is mint. I couldn't pass it up. I went ahead and did the 60k service and added 18" rims and Yokohama tires. This car gets more looks than anything I've ever driven. Not a day goes by without a complimement. Yes, the SL version could use more HP but, I'm 60 years old, so I don't have the need for speed that I once had. I absolutely love this car and if you can find an unmolested one, I highly recommend it.
Stay Away
I obtained the car with 66k miles and now have 100k. I have emptied my bank into this car...mostly due to transmission problems. Problems include...constant alignment, rebuilt engine ($3100), new transmission ($2800), radiator, continuous electrical problems with installed alarm and cd player. The major problems I have had are with my auto transmission. I had the transmission fixed, then sent in 3 days later to be fixed again. My warranty eventually ran out and it needed to be fixed again ($800) only to last for 4 or 5 days, and now it needs another new transmission. Don't buy this car.
The best purchase I made
This car is fast going and stopping, the interior is like driving while in a lazy boy that holds you in. The amenities are plush. I love this car. My favorite thing, is that the all wheel drive is so capable that it's nearly impossible to lose traction even when flooring it (unless you have crappy tires I suppose).
VR4
Mine's all stock except aftermarket air intake and blow-off valve , also an aftermarket straight pipe . It runs 13 sec at 1/4 mile .....not bad for the factory car.
GREAT CAR!!!
I bought this car a year and a half ago and the only problem i have with it is the antenna, it seems the antenna is a problem with these cars other wise that is it the car is Extremely reliable i run my car hard, to brooklyn, queens and back again and the car runs EXTREMELY smooth, i have had no mechanical problems with the car which i have had for 35,000 miles, the car currently has 125,000 miles on it and runs new!
3kgt
quickest v6 out there. I've beat out mustang gt's with my base model. A lot of dun to drive. With new tires corners like it's on rails. Wanna take that sharp corner at 45 mph? how bout in the rain?! go for it. Sad to say mines automatic, but i still enjoy it this much!
Go to 3Si.org for real reviews not here.
If you really want to know any thing about this car or any other car you will go to an enthusist web site and learn everything you can about it. For the 3000 GT and Dodge Stealth (same cars mechanically just different body panels) check out www.3Si.org. My handle there is Bret Brinkmann. They are just like any other car. If you mis treat them they will have problems. But treat them well and you will be more than pleased this car. And they are so easy to make a lot faster with out sacrificing any duribility. You just have to know what you are doing.
Great Car
This is a great car... it has great features and best of all it looks awesome. This car is a real head turner and no matter who you are you will look good in this car.
Performer, Scaleable, Expensive
The '94 3000gt VR4 is definitely a fun car to drive with a host of aftermarket parts, scaleable to over 800 horsepower with the right tuning with nearly timeless lines and enough modern features to keep it from being completely archaic. With small investments this car can easily see large horsepower gains, definitely fun to drive, head turner, 4 seats so that you can haul at least a few people, however it's very expensive to maintain, and the complexity of the engine makes it so that only adept mechanics can work on it without much risk. However if you're willing to invest the Coinage or the time, the payoff is worth it
I love this car
Sadly i own an auto base, but i truely love this car. i mean what car could you get for 3 grand and have 222 HP. It turns and handles wonderfully and has plenty of juice to handle traffic. I have had trouble with the infamous bad trannys these cars have but other than that and doing a 60k, its been incredibly realiable and gets 22mpg which im totally okay with. I enjoy seeing people in expensive ass cars just look back in stare. My dream now is to own a VR4 and see how mind blowing people say it is
Still fun after all these years
It's been over 9 years since I bought my 3000GT new. I still enjoy it. After 96,000 miles, the engine still runs smooth as silk and the power can easily boost me through any traffic situation. The stereo has been a delight. The AC is awesome in our hot climate. As it gets older, I'm looking for a car to replace it, but even the new, upscale sports cars lack its power and smoothness. You learn to expect it. Maybe I should keep it? On the downside, lack of headroom is something you get used to. Reliability has been average. Parts are expensive. But,the performance is what wins you over. It is a delight to drive, even after 9 years.
1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT - The 5 F's
I purchased my 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT new and it has been a love affair from day one. The 5 F's? It's fast, fun, fuel efficient, has front wheel drive and a five speed transmission. It just doesn'get any better than this. With 230,000 miles, I have replaced the clutch once and put three sets of tires on it, changed the oil every 3,000 miles, and the timing belt every 60,000 miles. The only thing that annoys me is the transient valve taps. I had the lifters replaced at 120,000 miles and it didn't make a difference, so its something I live with. It comes and goes. I like not having a back seat large enough to seat adults besause I don't have to chauffer anyone else around. This is my baby and she still gets close to 28 mpg on the highway. I love it!
A real head turner
My car is going to hit 150,000 miles at the end of this month. Appart from the normal stuff, brake, clutch and some minor switches the major things were the A/C and alternator had to be replaced. I drove over 30,000 miles and never broke down with this car, thus it is fairly reliable. I love how this car looks and am a little mad when I read Edmunds.com's review and how it was complaining about the design. I constatly get compliments from people on how nice the car looks! To me the 3000GT has a timeless design (which does hold for the Dodge Stealth). This car is a lot of fun to drive, it handles very nicely in turns and in highway traffic. The red line starts at 7,000 rpm, which is not bad for a V6 built in '94!
Beautiful car that drives like a Dream
I bought the car back in January and have had it almost 6 months and it has had no major problems. Im having to pay a fair ammount for the low mileage but it was well worth it. Only major problem was the 60k had to be done and the primary cyllinder needed to be replaced but both were something that I had to do anyways. The car is amazing and I never want to own anything else.
3000GT's are great
The 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT is the best. It is one of the fastest cars stock that you can buy, especially for the price.
I've owned both good and bad
I had a 1991 that was the best car I've ever owned. Fast, reliable and dependable up until I totalled it. I also purchased a 1994 that is ok, but the automatic transmission, when cold, lags when putting into drive, then jerks with great force. I replaced the trans and the new one was fine, but then after 8 months started having the same problem. Its not as reliable as the first one I had. Not even close.
Always wanted this car
Lots of car for the price. Be very careful who you choose to work on the engine (ie.timing belt replacement). Having replaced 2 engines, learned more about the underside of the hood than would have liked, can say that not many mechanics know how to work on them -- this is not the problem of the car, which is mechanically sound. Would buy the VR4 model. I love this car!
Excellent sports coupe
I have now owned this car for 7 years, it was my first. It can still turn heads, and plenty of people ask me questions about it. I have almost 120,000 miles (purchased with 95,000). Still on the original transmission (manual) and engine, without a rebuild. Its performance for a 14 year old car with a v6 its amazing, and I get 27 mpg on the highway. Outside of the engine and tranny itself there are some reliability issues, but that is expected with any sports car. I can't understand others who have reliability issues with the engine and transmission. They must really be abusing them.
Why oh Why did i go with Mitsubushi?!
I bought my 3000gt with 44,000 miles and id did nothing but cause me trouble at about 46,000 miles i started having transmission trouble which cost about $ 1,500 to fix so i went with manual. My alternator also went that was about anothe $300 and a week in the shop. They say the car with that kind of milage should not cause those kinds of trouble but if you buy a Mitsubishi every little part is made in Japan. I am very disapointed and wish that i would have never purshased it! I would advise no one to buy any Mitsuubishi doesnt matter of what kind it is, From Motero to Mirage.
great car
This is the best car i've owned and has enough power to go with the gorgeous looks
Don't buy this car!!!
My 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT has given me all kinds of problems. I have changed the starter, alternator, water pump, PCV valve, ignition switch, transmission and it still has problems so my advice is not to buy this car.
Man I love my car...
I believe that any sports car that is driven as such (read HARD) then you'll have your share of problems. Overall, with proper maintanence, this is a pretty reliable car for being such a performer. Same with gas mileage. For 320 HP stock, the mileage is outstanding. Even after many upgrades, I still maintain a very good mileage. Mitsubishi designed a car with timeless beauty in my opinion. I have upgraded many things in my car, and the performance is unmatched by anything in it's price class.
Great Car
Awsome this car is really fast with great speed and awsome body style
3000GT Rocks
I love my 3000GT. I've only had it about a month but I love it. I bought it used from a private seller. Its tons of fun to drive and you get people lookings at you like your driveing a ferrari. Even the base engine has a ton of pep to it. Stock, the 3000GT is still easily competitive with todays sports cars. Add a few mods and you can get up around 250 - 275 hp in the base.
Pretty great little sports car!
Mechanically sound car that is a blast to drive! Have had mine 3 years. After only buying Toyotas, I was lured by the beautiful body styling of this car and decided it was worth the gamble. Good outweighs any bad. I would buy this car again. I now need something with a bigger back seat, but will get an additional car, cuz I'm not giving this one up for nothin! :) Small complaints: antenna motor, power window motor, and 6-CD changer all died; shift boot was peeling, and one panel light on heater dial went out.
Iconic super car
This car was built to perform and let me tell you it delivers. To this day it is a head turner.

I FINALY Got the BIG Sports Car I've Wanted For Years!
Bought my '94 Mitsubishi 3000 GT 3 wks ago. Have a HUGE passion for this car. It's looks & body design are VERY different then anything on the road. I mean that in the best way possible. It's a slighter heavier car, but that's a good thing..built strong. Fastest & Best Handling car I've EVER drove. It has a slight under steer "push" at very high speeds when taking corners "high wide and handsome" - NASCAR Legend Darrel Waltrip quote. An after-market front anti-sway-bar should minimize that. It's just an awesome car to drive. Added; Cold Air Intake, RS Catback Exhaust, Motegi 16" Rims, 4 HiFonics Zeus Speakers, 12" HiFonics Zeus 1000w Amp Subs, Kenwood CD/MPG/USB Player & 2 Tweeker Speakers
Do not buy!
Problems since day one. Was bought for school and work. Thanks to this car I've lost a year and going of my life. Drove it home, and maybe 2 times before it died. Thanks a lot Mitsubishi. "More reliable alternative to Camaro, Mustang...." my foot. Only reason went with this car was Edmund's saying it was reliable, ha. Don't forget the abysmal gas mileage. 16/22 for a V6... Had known that wouldn't have bought to begin with...
