very fun car too bad resale values arent accurate
I have owned my VR4 for longer than any other vehicle I have owned, and for good reason. It has been simply the most enjoyable car I have owned. These cars are very relieable you just have to do your homework and keep some problem spots in check. The performance is great stock but not mindblowing. But with any car with turbos and AWD super car performace is easily within reach for every budget. And considering what these cars sell for it should be considered a steal. Which is the only real problem they have, the resale values dont represent the value accurately. And dont expect to pay the prices edmunds gives, you will pay at least $5000 for a high mileage VR4 that will need some TLC.
Almost 20 years
I was excited when I bought this beauty and am still excited almost 20 years later. She is still gorgeous, rides great, looks fabulous and I just can not part with her. My siblings make fun of me for keeping a car so long, but I truly can not help it. The engine hums like a baby and you don't even know it's on when you come to a stoplight. Power? She can beat them all, but I am one of those "slow" drivers anyway, so it doesn't matter. She sticks to the road around turns and sometimes when I am in my pickup, I forget that the pickup can't take the turns like the 3000GT can. Whoops! It was a midlife crisis thing when I bought her, and now, at 64, I am still in the midst of the crisis.

My baby
First year out model; I saw it on the billboard advertisement and just knew this was MY car. After 225K miles, I replaced the engine & transmission. The A/C was converted from the old freon-type. Everything is factory stock with the exception of new door speakers. I have to replace the leather seats someday soon but other than that, I am still lovin' my car as though I just bought it. I'd rather not put anyone or anything in the small tiny backseats so I lay the seats down for added baggage room. As expected, any new parts are hard to find & are at a premium price. I still average 22 MPG & 19 years later, I can hardly wipe the smile off my face when I'm in my car!
Have Owned for 17 Years and Still Going
I bought my 3000 GT/SL new in May, 1991 and in Oct. 2008 it still runs like the day I drove it off the lot. Great pick-up, tight handling, fun to drive. Even with 187,000 miles on it, I'm still loving it! Never had a major breakdown in all these years, just a few minor repairs. I can't say enough good things about this car!
Very unique
Overall, probably the best car every created. Not a cheap car to maintain, but work the cost for what you get. Stock over 300 hp with 307 ft-pounds of torque. The only cars that can to that today are the exotics and the corvette
91 3000GT VR$
This car is amazing by far! Back in 1991 it had set the standard for the automotive scene for good. This car was way ahead of its time. Topping out all of the competitors out there. I've only just begun on the long road with this car and it has had it's up and downs. The downs, being my fault and the person I purchased it from. But overall. This car is amazing to drive. The Turbos are great when they are fully spooled and push you back into the seats. The exterior is a flawless design, and the interior is to die for. I agree the back seats are to small for anyone. But the two front ones are perfect for either just me, or me and my lady. I highly suggest anyone to get this car.
I MISS MY 3000 GT
I bought this car for myself 3 yrs. ago when I was a 45 yr old. Some say I was having a male mid life crisis. But if you ever drive one of these you will fall in love with it too. I feel the 91 year was the best year for these cars. It is now 2007 and the styling of 1991 still works today. I especially like the flip up head lights that later models don't have. I am 6'2" tall and I have no problem fitting in this car. There is power everything. The gauge cluster setup is spectacular and easy to read. Handling and braking are excellent. The only problem I have encountered in 3 yrs. of ownership occured last Thursday. My 18 yr. old daughter totaled it out. She rear-ended a stopped vehicle at 60 mph.
Great Longterm Car
I've been driving the 1991 VR4 for 15 years with only minor repairs here and there, adding up to between $250 - $1,500 per year. What a Head Turner. Great Performance. Rear seats are small, but fold down so you can pack a lot into this car. Safe car, AWD really sticks to the road. Excellent stopping ability. Gets 18-23 mpg. Seat belts don't retract well, and new tires are expensive. LOVE this car though. Fun to Drive.
Bang for your buck
I bought this car with 78,000 miles and now at 94,000 miles it still runs like a champ. This car will take newer v-8 mustangs, subaru wrx's, cobalt ss easily. Great styling inside and out, have had it mistaken for a brand new car often times. If you can find one with low miles, definitely snag it.
Real Grand Touring Performance Car
18 months ownership of my 91 TT and I still love to drive it. I grunt like a wrestler getting into it but once in my 6 ft 3" is fine and I don't get reviews that say over 6 ft is a problem - adjust the seat! I live in the ideal place for a GTO - New Zealand with a whole south island full of empty fast roads. The week spent her is THE most enjoyable fast driving I have ever done, and that includes 4 x 911, 5 x Corvettes, De Tomasso, Lotus x 2, Cobra Replica, BMW 635, Audi Quattro. And for a car I paid $6000 dollars for! Keep it serviced regularly, at a main dealer or specialist and it is the flash looking exotic car with massive performance you always wanted with ownership costs.
Honk'n V
0 to 60 in just over 5 secs. 60 to 120 in a heartbeat. Goes into a 35mph curve at 85mph and comes out north of 100MPH! Tires stick to the road like glue. Yesterday it sucked a Jag Xjs up one exhaust and spit it out the other. Easily blows the doors off a Mustang 5.0 SHO.
Ten Years of 3000 GT SL
This car is unique and wonderful. Its looks still turn more heads than nearly any brand new car. The ride is comfortable while the handling is precise. The engine is sweet, makes mellow sounds and pulls strongly at all speeds. Highway gas mileage is over 26, making it rather economical as well. Front wheel drive gives it all season driveability. The hatchback design gives it lots of useable storage space. The interior design is true sports car excitement and the power leather seats wilh lumbar support are quite comfortable. By foreging the VR4 I saved a lot of money and probably a lot of repair headaches. This car has been very reliable and still feels solid and rattle-free.
Import King
Ive had my 3000 for 2 yrs now and it's a great spring and summer car. The handling is amazing when I'm cornering turns and off the line it speeds past cars like they're standing still. With a few mods i turn this kitten into a tiger. To me it's a keeper till the end
211,000 and going...
The 3000GT SL is a pretty good car thats really quick. The only thing to watch out for in 3000GTs is one that smokes after sitting at idle. My car slowly burns oil. It doesnt really harm anything, the car still hauls a$$. Some do tend to do this with old age but only after a long idle.(mostly only on really hot days) One good step on the gas, a quick puff of smoke and your off with no other smoking. Car still runs great though with no other problems. Turns heads everywhere I go. Great looks inside and out. Get one!
Great Car
This is a great car. I've had mine for over two years. This car has great handling and more than enough power to haul it around. I dropped in a used engine from japan with 40,000 miles on it. Since then i have put about 16,000 miles on it and haven't had a single problem.
Best Car for the money
The 91-93 VR4 is the best deal out there. Looks like an expensive sports car and performs like one without shelling out $40-50,000 bucks. All wheel drive and steering handle well in ice and minimal snow conditions, although when the snow gets deeper than about four inches it completely bottoms out with all four spinning. Fuel economy is awesome for a heavy car with 300+ hp getting about 24 highway. If you buy one plan on having everything from mustangs to ferraris wanting to race you at stoplights. Wave at almost anything in your review mirror at you pull away.
Owned for 11 years and still happy
The SL is great. This is a fun car, fast, great handling, good looking, and I can not find a replacement that is under $50,000. I only had 2 Problems at 10,000 miles a computer glitch. and at 105,000 miles a leak in the water pump. After 11 years I still love it.

1991 3000GT SL
This is my first sports car. It handles like a dream and responds to the slightest movement of the steering wheel. I like the pick up the car has. It is quick. Some refer to it as a poor man's Viper. The only problem I have with it, is that the suspension isn't the best, it's a little rough at times. I feel this car is a comfortable ride maybe a little to much, I wouldn't recommend driving it if you are tired. Mine tops out at 135 mph. but then again it does have a lot of miles on it. Getting in and out of it is a little rough but not anything I would gripe about.
Unbeatbale Street Monster
Ive only had my VR4 for a few months, but already its at around 400 hp and it HAULS some serious V8 butt. I hav enot been beaten on the street yet.
Miss my VR4
I owned this car for about 12 years. I recently traded this in with a heavy heart. No other car compares to this baby. I got a 7 series - but guess what - I miss my VR4. Imagine that. The 7 is sweet - but the VR4 is a BLAST! Handles like a dream - oh and I have had it on some very curvy roads in Missouri. Sticks to the road. And acceleration - you say jump and it flies. I have had my share of tickets - and sometimes the cops could not believe their eyes. Those were the days - that was THE CAR!
1991 Mitsubishi GT 3000 SL
Fun - fun - fun!
no title
These Cars are one of the best Imports you could own, great performance/ handleing, only probably ive came across since ive owned mine was the dreaded noisey lifter tick, but its a easy replace just upgrade to the 99 3000GT's lifters.
3000GT VR4
Bought my '91 3000GT VR4 in 1999 and it has performed outstanding ever since. Besides routine maintenance have had no major problems. It'll dust any car off the line making them look silly. It is easily the most fun car I have ever driven and turns heads.
the best car in the world
it takes just 6.5 seconds to get her up to 60. it is fully capable of reaching 160mph with it's 48-valve engine
Fast. Period
I love my VR4. Its flashy, fun to drive, and is pretty reliable, especially considering all the electrical toys. After 150K I expect some problems, and routine maintenance takes care of everything (except my fried computer last year). I'm about 6'5" and while there isn't much room left, I feel pretty comfortable.
super car
a blast to drive and own an excellent aoto. i highly recommend it if you have the means.
ggg

Hot mama
I purchased my 92 3000gt with a tired motor and auto trans. The car in stock form is a pleasure to drive sticks to the road like glue, has great acceleration but does have a reputation for expensive repairs like main bearings spinning and at problems. I had my motor completely rebuilt to a 400 hp single turbo setup and have a 5 speed also and now I wouldn't want any other sports car more than my 3000gt she is a beast and a beautiful car way ahead of its time. These cars were called the poor man's Ferrari when they were introduced in 1991 and there are still many on the road today although most have been modded .
Gotta Love it!
I am the original owner of this car and I couldn't be happier. When you want to combine the power of a sports car with the styling and comfort of a luxury sedan you get the 3000GT. I can't imagine driving anything else. Even now I still get looks in the car and people don't believe me when I tell them it is a '92.
vr4 is a score!
this car is amazing. after 91000 miles it still maintains its speed and quickness. its looks still turn heads and awd helps provide precise handling. just a great car!
A classic
I've owned my 3000GT SL for ten years. I couldn't imagine trading it in - there's nothing out there quite as sexy, powerful, fun and affordable.
classic
I bought this car new. 10 years later I see no car out there that I would buy or trade my 3000 in for. The design and style is still unique.
Kick Ass!!!!!
This is a sweet car!
In Love
I have only had this car for a little over month and I am in love with it already. It's beautiful inside and out and even though it's almost 12 model years old, it still turns heads everywhere I go. It's quick and fun to drive. I don't ever want to get rid of it!!
Great Car
My VR4 seemed to be ahead of the times when I bought it, and still maintains that feel. The decision was between this and the 300Z turbo that had just come out. I am so glad that I picked the Mits. It is a great car and has never given me any trouble at all.
Sandstone VR-4ing it up
Great car for the looks and performs pretty well. AWD is the main reason I bought the car, and I really enjoy it. Gas mileage is poor, but hey its a sports car. However, one must realize that this is a high maintainance car. Stuff will break, I guarentee it... and it will not be cheap to fix by any means.
Fun to Drive
Most powerful car I have ever owned. The AWD really made this car awesome. Its cornering is great and it stops from ridiculous speeds in no time. I have had many realiability issues with the car. Bought the car with 79,000 miles on it and 10,000 miles later the main bearings gave out. This is not a cheap repair. Also replaced the transmission which had failing synchros (both common problems in these cars). Replaced the exhaust from the downpipe back. Overall I would buy another one, but just be careful what you are looking at.
So much fun!
I went from driving an automatic 91 dodge stealth to a manual 94 3000gt sl! I could not believe the difference in the two cars. The 3000 is so much fun and is pretty quick (with some minor mods)!
High miles, but still high quality
I have owned a 92 3000gt sl (red with black and grey interiror) for a little over one year, Best car I have ever owned. My car has almost 200,000 miles on it and it runs perfectly. I had to replace a few parts along the way (of course). It's fast enough to beat a lot of others out there, plus with the 3000 you can do it in style. This car will be a classic in years to come.
awesome
it rules the road
best car ever
i love my vr-4 i think it is the best car i have owned. the car is really fast and always makes heads turn as u ride it in town. i have had no problems witht he car yet i just put a body kit on it if u want to see it it is cardomain. i will keep this car 4 ever
Better Then A Corvette
a great fun sports car had mine for over 6 years hard to find one that not modded out let alone buying it from younger teens that beats on them hard. this car is always a head turner even had a cop preferring it over a Corvette. no regrets on buying it and already looking into buying another one always Keep up on its maintenance on the dot frame rails in the engine bay tend to rust out so make sure to check them

Fast ride
Bought this car new. Love driving it. Car never saw snow. It was kept covered or in garage. Car is in good shape. It has a little valve ticking, only because the car is not driven regular like it should. Getting up in age and 5 speed should be driven by someone much younger than I.

NONE BETTER
There is no better car for the price that can touch the performance of the VR4 www.importpoweronline.com
Be VERY Careful buying one of these...
Nice looking car, and test drove well. But, we've spent more on repairs than we spent on the car, in only 4 months. We spun a bearing within 24 hours of purchase, requiring engine replacement. I've learned this is a common problem at about 100,000 miles. We also replaced the passenger window motor, antenna motor, clutch, and rebuilt CV joints, among other things. The glove box is loose. The center console lid won't latch. The sun visors won't stay up, requiring an uncomfortable seat position to keep from hitting your head against it. I always hear how Japanese build quality is so much better than U.S., but I'll take my 89 Mustang over this car any day in any category...
