Classic Sports car in today's Technology
Back in college I got the itch for classic sports cars driving a Triumph TR4-A. Unfortunately, it meant tightening bolts, oiling squeaks and numerous fixes as the British made car fell apart. Along came Mazda with the Miata having classic lines and european style. The reliability is awsome and the handling is even better than my old Classic. Thanks Mazda!!

ONE GREAT CAR
My car is a 2000 EO I just love it. It has enought power when you need, a can move out of the way. There is plenty of trunk room for a 2 week vacation full of stuff.
Fantastic
This is my 2nd Miata. I leased a 1999 Miata and fell in love, only to buy a Shinsen version. Having a small car allows me to park anywhere. The Shinsen version also gives a shaper appearance and a better ride. The car puts me in a great mood all the time.
My First Roadster Convertiable
I have always owned a family automobile until now , after the four children moved out,I bought the 2003 Mazda Miata Mx-5 LS and now I fight with my wife to drive it.I drove it from Texas to New York all alone and loved every minute.
Special Edition 6 Speed
A true roadster! Light, small and agile. What more could a sports car aficionado want? A modern classic.
Excellent! 2nd One purchased!!!
Absolutley a fabulous little car. This is my second one purchased, and I will always love it. Handles great, looks great, and in 3 years of previously owning one I NEVER had one single issue or problem with anything. Very stable, well made, and a great value.
Best Roadster on the road
I have never had a car that was so well made. Everything that needed to be thought about to put in a sports car was done on this one. Nothing is poorly done... everything is first class
Miata's are GREAT
I love my Miata, as I have all of our other Miata's
Mazda Miata
Needs highest octane gas or the valves vibrate.
Finally bought my Shinsen!
I agonized for an entire year, and finally did it last night. The car is exactly what I expected - mainly, beautiful yet muscular styling, perfect handling, great sound system, etc. I could go on and on - but other owners already know all the adjectives.
Therapy
This is a car that is just plain fun. If you do not enjoy driving this vehicle, there is no hope for you. You may never want to put the roof up, even when the cold weather arrives.
My Marvelous Miata
A truly great car. Zippy, peppy, easy to drive, easy to love. Easy maintenance. I am the envy of my friends. Wouldn't drive anything else.
awesome
I have exprience nothing but fun and reliable car for being a sports car. I owned a 96 miata trade in for 2002 turbo bug. Kept the bug less then two years trade for shisen 2003. i just love the way the miata handles when driving.
Love it
This is the most fun car that I have ever owned. It is responsive. It has clean lines. It is one of the few sports cars on which an automatic transmission is an option. It is a gteat car for those who want performance along with being noticed.
Bliss...
I am LOVING my new Miata. I was hesitant at first due to the small size of the cabin, and the 5.1 cubic feet of trunk space, but I didn't use my backseat anyway, so I DON'T miss it. The legroom is only slightly less than my last vehicle (Celica), and it handles like a dream....tight steering. Lots of "zoom-zoom". Great car.
My Pal
Will always have a least 1 convertible in my driveway thanks to Mazda.Car is everything a roadster should be.Price makes it a clear choice over any sports car on the road today.
I love my Miata!
This car exemplifies my life today; it is a drastic change from the pickup truck I traded in. I am rebuilding my life and wanted a car that reflected who I am today and who I hope to become. Wherever I go, I receive wonderful compliments on my car.
Dave's baby
I LOVE driving my Miata! Definately no buyers remorse here. Highly recommend this car for the fun-minded and quality- minded.
My Shinsen
The acceleration of this vehicle is really lacking. I really wish that it had tilt steering. Don't know if it is true but I was told that this particular year only came in manual and that an automatic transmission was not an option. I would have preferred an automatic. My Shinsen is a third vehicle and stays mostly protected in the garage. I would have to say that I am pretty satisfied to own such a one of a kind (once again was told by my dealership that only 1500 of them were made).
Makes My Day
Hey, I did my time in minivans. This is my "other" car. Have been smiling ever since hubby bought it for my anniversary present last summer. Always have very silly grin when driving. I make up excuses to drive whenever it is sunny, and always take the long, long way home.
What an excellent car!
This is my second Miata, my first being a '93. I have found this car to be a dream to drive. It is fun, reliable, and simple. Aftermarket accessories abound, and it's easy to work on yourself. They are not expensive, and no other car has such an enthusiastic following. It is simply the most fun you can drive!
Unbelievable!
Took delivery of my new 2003 Miata SE in Strato Blue Mica on 5/28/04. Had a 2003 Tribute ES V6 and loved it, but the looks of the Miata, plus what I knew about the features, reliability, and quality of the car made my decision to trade an easy one. I've never owned a convertible before, but it's been an easy adjustment, even though I don't have room to haul much of anything. For me, that's a minor trade-off. This being my third Mazda, I can honestly say that Mazda now has a customer for life. I've had the top down most of the time and get plenty of comments on my great looking SE. Looking forward to enjoying it for many years to come!
Finally!
My patience has been rewarded - I grew up in Michigan, and now live in So. Cal. A lifelong motorcyclist, it was here that I could finally get what I consider to be the finest 4-wheeled equivalent of a bike - a Miata! Grins from ear-to-ear, sensational handling, bulletproof reliability, and at a price that still can't be touched in this segment (sorry, I have never warmed up to the looks of the MR2). I now have a pleasant dilemma in the garage: Bike or car? This is indeed a classic roadster in the purest of (all) senses. Do yourself a favor - dismiss what anyone else thinks, and take one for a spin. You will not regret it.
Love Mazda Style
This is my second Miata. I loved the first one (a '95), but this SE is even better. I'm constantly complimented on its looks and I've been very impressed with the way it grips the curvy mountain roads here.
Built for the Sierras
My wife and I live about an hour from the Sierra Nevada mountains on the California side. Whenever we want to take a Sunday drive, we hop in the Miata and spend a wonderful day winding through the foothills and mountains with the top down. What a way to enjoy the outdoors!
Beyond My Expectations
A true sports car with great looks, remarkable agility, extraordinary overall performance, and plain good ol' fun is what I was looking for, and the MX5 provides these features in full measure, and at a price that couldn't be beat! I bought the car when I was 60, and feel as if I'm 18 every time I pull out of the garage. I've just looked at the 2006 models. The MX5 tradition lives on in this "upgunned" model. You can bet another new MX5 is out there in the future. Well done, Mazda!
Ol Blue
This car is the most fun I have had behind the wheel in my life. Very responsive, fun to drive, economical also. I wish I would have bought one a long time ago instead of waiting till my 58 birthday.
I have fun
I have fun with this car wheather I am driving it or washing it.
Gorgeous car
I rarely hear comments on the looks of the new Miata. It really is a gorgeous car to look at. As for performance, it takes more driving skill than a Corvette, wich is fine with me.
Zoom-Zoom!
I've noticed most non-miata drivers wear expressionless faces. I wonder if they notice the smile on my face as I'm driving - it's hard to not smile as I'm wrapped in total satisfaction driving me-miata!
An Experience
This is a car that when your drive it, you are transformed into another world.. As you can see I love my Miata. It is truly a fun car to drive. I look forward to going out and driving it every day.
Why didn't I buy one sooner
I just love driving it all over... Have done several 300 and 500 mile trips and it's a hoot!. I used to own a V8 Mustang but the Mustang is a great straight line, stop light to stop light runner and the rumble is a V8 but I am more road racer (which in my opinion is the true racing spirit) then a drag racer so it's a ton more fun even though it doesn't have the power. Handling in corners is just fantastic and it's agility... :-). One of the most fun and best cars I ever drove.
Miada Mama
I bought it for fun but use it for work. Thrifty on fuel, waranty protection, dealer jumping through hoops for me. What more can one ask for. Mountain roads not a problem with the power and handling.
fun car
The Miata is a refined roadster. The finish detail is good and has a sporty feel to it. The soft top is easy to use and when down doubles the driving experience. Although having reasonable power, more could always be used.

light heavyweight
Being an owner of a very powerful and fast, very low mileage Nissan 300ZXtt, I can tell you with certainty that the Miata Shinsen is just as much fun. I also own a WRX, and the Mazda is more fun (though obviously less practical)
Miata Shinsen is great!
Fun to drive, turns on a dime, solid construction, quiet engine, and any bad day turns good with the top down.
Incredible li'l beast!
Inherited this from my sister when she passed. 2003 Miata SE (metallic blue), and supposedly only 3500 of 'em made that year in this framework. Got it in 2017 and here in 2023, it's actually NEVER been in the shop for anything other than minor maintenance.... 139000 on it now, and no reason to think it won't do ANOTHER 140k... BEST CAR I'VE EVER OWNED! Bargain-priced rice rocket, as long as you don't mind the antiquated interior by 2023 standards. But it's easy enough to upgrade and still maintain the integrity of the build.

Racing Green. No envy.
Having owned a 2008, this older model is even closer to the simple, pure, organic driving experience Mazda intended for those who drive it. The short throw 5-speed shift and tight handling make driving a pure pleasure. The 2003 comes with power windows and mirrors while sticking to an "analog" dash, a manual roof, and beautiful brushed chrome wheels.
