Somewhat Costly To own
Had the car since it was new and now has 70000 miles on it. Had to replace the factory tires at 25000 miles and did not think much of it. I use this for light duty personal use with no off road or hauling. The original ball joints cracked at 40000 miles and were upgraded to better ones with grease fittings. The transmission was rebuilt at 69990 miles. The steering wheel cruise control was replaced due the disintegration of the original equipment (Common across ford and Mazda trucks).
Glenn
I like the truck, but it has had some reliability issues. At 30,000 miles a windshield washer fluid hose busted, and my main seal was leaking. After I got it back a couple sensors failed and caused my check engine light to come on, and my maifold was leaking. When I took it back in the dealership replaced the sensors, manifold and they found that my main seal was still leaking and they had to replace it again. Because of all these things my truck was in the shop about 4 times in 2 months. I also do not like the brakes on this truck. I had a few occasions were when I needed to stop, I'd slam on the brakes and there would be very little braking action.

Damn good truck
The truck is tall! I like being up just a little bit in a pickup that is sold as 'small.' I find the truck is a smooth ride with the michelins that replaced the FS that were on it when I bought it.The transmission is smooth, and the power is enough for me (I traded in a 95 Isuzu Pup) I haven't done any off road stuff and proably wont since that isn't my life style.
Pleasantly Surprises
I purchased this truck brand new last summer. Have not driven many of my other cars since then. I drive it everywhere. The ride is typical for a small compact truck but improves dramatically with a load. Also, the tonneau cover adds about 3 mpg to your gas mileage which is a really disappointing 17 mpg with the V6. No complaints other than that.
Pretty truck, great price, average mpg.
A good-looking, tough truck at a better price and warranty than a Ranger(same truck). 3.0 needs better mpgs. Engine has periodic rough idle and engine pings easily (many posts in forums regarding these so they are common and can be fixed). Rides stiff but handles very well. Good brakes. Check interior/exterior build quality and paint before buying VERY CAREFULLY- mine had trash and runs that needed to be fixed (never as good as factory paint). Chrome around windows causes wind noise for looks only (to be dif than Ranger).
Enjoy the ride!
Little bouncy on the ride. Little thirsty with the gas. Steady driver and a warm vehicle in the winter. Reliable performance at all times.
Keeps on truck'n
My B2500 has 280,000 miles on it and everything works - I maintain it will and it serves me will. Thinking about selling until I pulled up to the twin vehicle. After I bragged it up the owner of the other truck said he had 450,000 miles on his and still going strong. I have had mine 11 years now, think Ill try for 20!
I Liked It
I haven't had many problems. I had to get the ball joints on the front replaced and new rotors. I cemetric pabs on when I changed the rotors and new tires. I also have a hard shell cab on it. I avg my miles almost every time I get gas and it comes out to 19mpg combined which is fine with me, I knew when buying a truck I wouldn't get great gas mileage. I want a GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab now only b/c its bigger. I wouldn't mind keeping this as a daily driver though.
Worst Performance ever for truck
Often cannot go more than 35-45 mph city, 55 mph highway driving. Against 15-20 mph wind on interstate, max speed is 65-72 mph. Dynomometer test shows 27% power/torque (109.7 hp, 135 ft-lb torque--35% greater drive train inefficiency than competive trucks. Fuel consumption is 12-17 mpg, averaging 14-15 in winter and 15-16 in summer. Mazda notified me that fuel consumption sticker values were determined by mathematical algoritms and had no empirical evidence to support the fuel consumption claims. Mazda claims that the vehicle "performs according to specifications", which is the only answer that I ever get from them.
My B3000
This vehicle has been quite good to me. Comfortable and quiet, the 3.0 Liter V6 seems bulletproof. Everything still works as new after 2+ years and 34000 miles. I like this truck.
B4000 is a great truck
I've only had this truck a month; bought it used at 46,000 miles and it has been working well though the dashboard lights seem to come on sometimes when nothing is wrong - i.e. 'door ajar' when not ajar, etc. But overall this is a great truck.
Good all around pickup
After shopping around, found this vehicle to be the best for the money by far. Was only lacking skid plates and limited slip rear. Added a few details and everyone admires its appearance!V6 lacks in the mileage, but they all do once away fromthe 4 bangers. Overall good truck. 76K now and going for 200K+ miles.
Great truck
I have had this truck for a little over 2 years now and am very happy with it. I bought it with 30,000 miles on it and it now has 64,000. I have not had one problem with it and it still has the original tires. All that I do is oil changes. I currently get around 26 to 27mpg in mainly city driving. I have gotten as high as 33mpg on the highway before (55- 60mph). You can easily get upper 20's. Don't expect a lot of power from this truck but compared to the S-10 it does seem to have more get up and go. This is awesome basic transportation and I probably will drive it into the ground.
dependable
I bought this truck with 68k on the dash. Now the truck has 98,450 and still kicking hard like the day I bought it. Nothing has gone wrong with it; it has held up very well. expecting another 100k out of her.
B3000 DS SX Model
This is the best truck I've had, better than a Ranger and cheaper. Handles well in all uses, hauls very well.
Great truck
Being a older truck it barely has over 90000 miles and around 75000 miles we did a lot of work to the engine. When we first got it we barely used the truck but ever since we’ve did all the work to the engine everything has been basically perfect. Had a couple small leaks here and there but everything is still good.
Great Truck
I really like this truck I think its a great truck, It has a great V6 in it.
Clickin' Truck
Mine has a 4cyl.,5-speed, and a/c.I am not impressed with the gas milage and the seats are very uncomfortable. The shifter is very rough and since about 10k miles, there is a clicking noise from the engine. It sounds like a valve tick. The dealership said there is nothing wrong.I have tried high octane fuel, but that does not help. This truck is painful to ride in and the motor is weak.I am not impressed with this Ford...Mazda.
Fun little truck and easy to work on!
Had my b2500 for a while now and it’s been nothing but great. Shares a lot of parts with the ford ranger (basically the same truck other than the front end) so the aftermarket support and modifications are nice n easy. Good truck to learn on.
