B2200 Extended Cab Owned it for 13 years
When I bought this truck in 1992, it had 6,000 miles on it. I told my wife I'd still be driving it in 2000 and she laughed at me. Now it's almost 2006 and it has 133,000 miles. I had the transmission (automatic) rebuilt at 124,000, and a tie-rod. That's it. Otherwise, I just drive it and have the oil changed. I've been saying since 2000 that I'll buy a new truck when it stops running. It's still going. The driver's seat has ripped on the corner where you get in but the rest of the interior is still perfect.
Best vehicle I've ever owned
I bought this truck new in 1991. It now has 233K miles, and until this year, was all original. Other than standard wear (tires, brakes, etc), nothing had been repaired or replaced. It drives great, has been super reliable, and even with 2WD, has been great in off-road type conditions. The manual transmission has been awesome. She's slowing down a bit but still, by far, the best vehicle I've ever owned in the past 30 years. I seriously doubt the Ford Mazdas will even come close.
Excellent Stock 4x4
I have owned this truck for a little over a year and so far I am completely satisfied. I did a lot of research on compact 4x4's before buying and after weighing all the pros and cons of each contender, the B2600i came out on top. Easy to work on, good power for a four banger, good price, great styling, tons of space, nice and convenient cockpit, and excellent reliability/dependability. If you are looking to do heavy modifications, look somewhere else, there's not much of an aftermarket for these guys. But if you are looking for a top notch stock 4x4 this is for you.
Best car ever owned, bar none
This is the only vehicle I have ever purchased brand new. I've had literally dozens of "fix-'em-up-and- sell-'em cars and trucks in the last 10 years. At 100k I put in a new front 1/2 shaft axle. I think I replace a turn signal bulb and one headlight, too. Other than regular maintenance, that's it. What a great truck! Very heavy duty, check out the frame and front suspension components. Huge. Combined city/hwy since new is about 23.8 mpg, with a shell on. It starts everytime, hauls a ton of stuff and still looks great in bright red. If you are looking at this truck, I LOVE mine and plan to drive it until it or I am dead.
Mazda
I am a sixteen year old driver, who bought this car for 4000 dollars. It came with a canopy, which is why it cost a little more, it started with 121000 miles on it and now i am pushing 200000 and it is still running the same as when i bought it, there is only one minor thing that i can complain about and that is the clutch is now starting to give, and it is an expensive replacement, but seeing as how i learned how to drive a stick in this truck, i brought it upon myself, it is the most reliable car in the family and it gets me where i need to go. I highly reccomend it.
Best truck avail in the world
I've owned over 10 Mazda b series trucks ranging from 87-93. I am a master mechanic and know all vehicles very well. These are the best trucks that are avail in the United States. Very tough, simple and run forever with very little maintenance. The only ones to possibly stay away from would be the 87&88 b2600 trucks that have a Mitsubishi sourced engine, that was somewhat problematic in comparison to Mazda built engines. The 4x4 trucks are totally unstoppable. They are tall and light, and go through everything, but being top heavy they are easy to roll. I rolled my 4x4 and flipped it back on all wheels, let it sit for 30 min, then drove away, just a bent fender. They are tough!
It wouldn't die!
People I know used to call this truck "The Tank." It started up every time without fail. It could maintain higher than highway speeds for extended periods of time, even after 100K miles on it. I am certain that I could have driven it another 200K without any major problems. It was extremely fun to drive, and highly reliable. Despite being a truck, it handled very well. Most amazing was its demise. I was doing something I shouldn't have been doing, and ended up rolling the thing down a ravine and then into a tree. Despite all the damage, the thing could still start up in the salvage yard a few days later! Even in death, it lived up to it's nickname!
It will run forever
Bought truck new in 1992.Truck is now 23 years old and looks and runs as new.Have added a tilt wheel and cruise control and put in RX7 leather seats for more comfort. Am preparing to give it to my 17 year old grandson with instructions on how to maintain it so he can give it to his grandson.147000 on the clock with only routine maintenance. If u can find one by it and treasure it as they are unbelievable trucks.Addendum : Drivers side mirror apparently rusted out and fell off-boo-hoo.Mazda had ONE replacement left in their parts warehouse so I got it and replaced the mirror. Truck is still doing fine.ben . Update 11-30-16. Tuned the rascal up today and it is in fine fettle.Bought grandson a Volvo 850 GLT as it has 4 airbags and the Maz has o. Still have truck. At age 77 keeping it up is becoming a real chore, so me need to find a better home for it.Stay tuned and buy one if u can find one.Wish Maz would resume making them.BJUpdate 6-02-17. Still have the rascal. It mostly sits and the battery runs down. Still looks great and runs great after I jump it off.Wish somebody who loves these old trucks would buy it and keep it up.AT 78 hard for me to fiddle with it as I once did.Ben

1992 B-2600i 4x4 Extended Cab
If you can find one for sale buy it.
I can believe it!!
This truck may be an eyesore and not that comfortable but this truck will not fail you. I got this truck from my dad who bought it new for orchard use. This truck was used mostly for navigating up and down rough apple, grapes, and cherry orchards and is still in perfect shape engine wise. I strongly believe this trucks body and interior will go before the internal parts i.e., engine, tranny.
Good Work Truck
I bought it with 32,000 original miles in Jan.2008 and now have 64,000 (used for light duty service work). Reliability has been outstanding. Very smooth and silent drive line with good ratio spacing. Brakes very good. Engine is long stroke 2.2L FI truck type- max torque at low rpm. Acceleration and sustained hill climbing are only marginal. Interior quality is marginal. MPG is 20 avg. Ride quality is really rough when unloaded.(torsion bar/leaf). Bench seat very uncomfortable.Sun visors to small to be useful.Front bumper and exhaust system from catalyst on back disintegrated from rust (common for B2200)
Extremely reliable, got 230k miles
I bought this car from the original owner a few yrs ago, needed a cheap truck in a pinch. It never broke down or left me stranded until the engine blew w/ almost 230k miles on the original engine and tranny. It was incredibly reliable although bare bones. Great for a first car or a work truck if you can get one w/ low miles.
Best small truck ever made
I bought this truck new in Dec. 1990 and after 12 1/2 years and 188,000 miles, it still runs GTREAT! Not even a rattle or vibration. The 4X4 pulls better than my full size Bronco, although the Bronco has a tighter turning radius. The A/C is cold, excellent suspension, finally put a clutch in (this requires shopping around). Overall, I have never owned a vehicle this long and it is doubtfull that my next vehicle will last like this one. When she finally goes, she will be missed. If you have a chance to buy one of these, forget Toyota or Nissan. Mazda really made a winner here! Zoom Zoom Zoom.
Great little truck
Can't say enough about how much I love this truck. I'm sad to part with it for a four door truck. It has towed a boat and been over lots of oil field leases and just keeps going and going and going.......
B2200 Rules!
I have not replaced a single componet in this truck except the radiator due to poor water quality. Clutch orig. alternator orig.,etc, well built simple truck.
dependable workhorse
I've owned my Mazda for a year and a half now and have had absolutely no problems with it. At 115,000 I'm still using the original clutch. I'm currently replacing the front-end suspension and steering wear components (for the first time)...parts are a little hard to find, but no more than any other foreign vehicle. Gas mileage is pretty poor for a 4 banger: 18 city, 21 highway...but the engine has good power for the vehicle (esp. having 115,000) and has given me no troubles...always starts without complaints even in cold weather (I live in Wisconsin).
Mazda
great truck! i've loved it since the day I bought it. Very few problems and only minor ones at that, great vehicle to drive
Best Import Truck Built!!!!!
I bought this truck used in 1993, and have never regretted it. It has NEVER failed me. It has outstanding traction, I have even pulled a Toyota with bigger tires out of a mud hole I had just gone through. The only repairs I have done are Brakes, Battery, Tires, Shocks, Ball joints, the usual wear items, nothing serious. The truck is rated 18 city, 20 highways, but I average 22-24 mpg. I would love to buy a new one but unfortunately now they are rebadged Ford Rangers JUST NOT THE SAME!!!!!!
Best vehicle I have ever owned
138000 and counting... rock solid, no rattles, no rust, original paint still looks excellent, original clutch, people think it's a new truck... Only regret is that I can't find another one for my son who now drives as they are so rare.
Only the best
Bought the truck brand new and never had a problem. Engine finally blew at 162,000 miles. One of the best I ever had!!
140,000 and still going strong!
I bought this truck used and have been enjoying it for over 10 years now. You have to admire a truck that's still in good shape after 140,000 miles. The interior is comfortable, almost luxurious for a truck, and nothing has come loose. The engine has just had the usual routine maintenance items. It's aging gracefully like a fine wine. I had to have the A/C retrofitted to use non-CFC refrigerant. Body rust is minimal even though I've lived near saltwater most of the time. My hat is off to Mazda for a superbly reliable truck. (Don't be fooled - The new "Mazda" trucks are actually Fords.)
I wish they still made this truck
I purchased my mazda pickup new and have been amazed at its reliability. The only thing I have had to do other than routine maintanance is recently replace the valve cover gasket which had cracked from age after 13 years of service. I drive this truck hard and cannot believe the original clutch is still working. Hats off to mazda for one of the best made trucks ever!
B2200 beast
I bought my 92 b2200 new. 2 clutches and new head gasket at 220k miles and that is it other than belt changes and preventative maintenance . I'm currently having it rebuilt at 356k miles. Got my money's worth. Putting a Weber carb and $1200 total rebuild price. What a great investment.

Extremely Reliable
New Transmission at 100,000 miles is only major mechanical expense ever. Best no frills vehicle for the money.
A true 10, last of the "true Mazda"
Simply the last generation of Japanese born trucks. Heavy duty from the skid plates to the drive shaft. Uncommon in new vehicle quality seems to be toughness which the B Series always has had its nitche. I owned a Mazda Tribute, expecting better than average reliability and ended up with nothing more than a Ford branded Mazda which Mazda claimed was its design....if so I'll probably stay with this B2600i forever. By the way, traded the Tribute in on a new Xterra SE which ride and toughness seem close cousins. Not the pickup Nissan puts out, it seemed light but the Xterra with added weight and 4wd seems a close second. More availability of aftermarket items such as brush guards, etc.
1991 Mazda Pickup
Reliable vehicle, excellent gas mileage, uses no oil, have maintained oil changes and tune up regularly. Tires are kept in good condition. Quiet motor. AC and heating work well. Radio and cassette work well.
Excellent hard working truck
Outstanding truck. It tows a lot more than the specs say(up 4000lbs) without any difficulty. Currently at 183000 miles and haven't had to do anything major or unusual with regards to maintenance. Very easy to work on most things. Mileage has been a steady 22mpg unless towing high volume or high weight loads(detailed mileage records kept). Good solid well built truck. The only complaint is its traction, which is so bad, I've gotten stuck in things I didn't know a vehicle could get stuck. I even got stuck on a grassy hill that was dry and hard packed. This is an excellent truck.
mazda truck
I use it for work and it's been a good one
unmatchable
These are great trucks for people who dont want a full size truck. They are reliable, easy to handle, very handy to own. Parts are as cheap or cheaper than the average vehicle. Just a reliable handy inexpensive truck.

The Best Truck
This truck is my second vechiele owned and the best, most reliable ,import truck i have had to this day.Sure dont make them like that anymore.
Great Basic Truck!
I've owned my Mazda B2200 for 2 years and it has been one of the most reliable and trouble-free vehicles I have ever owned. I drove it to and from work every day and a few trips across the state. Extremely dependable transportation!
Fourhundred thousand miles,cant be wrong
Since my acquirement, I have thouroughly enjoyed this perfect little truck, including all of its charm. Starting everytime with assurance - to myself. And because of this, I give Mazda my hat. Once the agreement with ford has deminished. Mazda should revive the respect of the past.
