You may pay what is a slightly higher price, but the car runs and runs and runs! I have had the car for just over four years and it runs great with no mechanical problems. Only thing I've done is routine maintenance

How to look at the SC430

The "back seats" are for luggage, not people. (actually for insurance). It's basically a 2 seater, with dummy back seats so insurance costs are lower. You can do 4 people, but it's awfully tight...ok for short disdances in a pinch. I've done it, even rode in the back. Other than that, it is a luxuious 300HP go cart. If you like to get racy, fill the tires to near the limit (44 psi?) It has The Best factory Stereo Ever made.. period.

The steering column is tight. The front end is so heavy the downhill curves going through the Grapevine are not just easily manageable, they seemed meant for a car like this. My 04, V-8 makes uphill grids an easy glide. I prefer the 2004 over the 2002 because it gave Lexus a chance to smooth out the kinks. I prefer the 04 over the newer models because the attention spent on placing a priority on computer technology took away from the single most important detail of any automobile: the engine. Just my opinion. Thx

I bought this car when it first came out. Felt like a rock star riding around in it for the first three months. Everyone wanted to see it. They loved seeing how the hard top retracted in 39 seconds. I have no complaints. I still have the run flat tires. It's a slightly bumpy ride but no more than my old Porsche & it gives me more trunk space. It's a sports car that's completely reliable -- a miracle in our time. It's fast enough. Love the sound system and the navigation system. If I get a new car it will probably be a newer version of the SC430

While every auto magazine seems to pan this car for performance, the truth is, this car equals the Mercedes SL 500 on the zero-60 tests, has better build quality and the interior and engine is about as nice and smooth as it gets. I would like to see another 30 h.p. and I like to see Lexus comeout with their own AMG or "M" division so that Lexus can compete with these performance machines.
