Just traded in an 07 3-series. BMW had so many problems with that car and having heard so many great things about Lexus build quality and dealership service I gave the IS350 a try. The car is so fast! It handles in turns better than a BMW and way more features for the dollar. First and definitely not my last Lexus!!

I just bought a 2008 loaded Lexus IS350 w/7,000 miles...this is my 5th Lexus, the others being SUV's, but have also owned 3 BMW's, including a wonderful M3. The IS350 is a great car. 98% of my driving is city, suburb or highway and it performs flawlessly. If I drove major "twisties" everyday, maybe I would have bought another BMW, but few of us have the "true" abilities to push either Lexus or BMW to their honest limits... It has 90% of the BMW capabilities, IMHO, plus a quieter ride, better interior, better exterior, more reliability and at least an equal resale value. It doesn't scream "look at me"...hey, even the engine and muffler are quiet, but power is vastly available when you want it.

The title says it all: it is one smooth luxury sports sedan! After owning this vehicle for about three months now, it's easy to see why Lexus always gets such high marks in the luxury segment. My wife and I considered the 335i and the G37 sedan as well. Since we keep our cars on average about 8-10 years, we were uneasy about the 335's future reliability and high cost of maintenance and repairs. The G37 was superb, but definitely lagged in terms of interior finish behind the Lexus. The interior is beautifully crafted, and the vehicle lines flow seamlessly. The ride is taut, but not harsh. The vehicle has plenty of power for all but most demanding, and handling is very capable. It's a keeper!

I have owned the is350 for 14 days approx... Ok it's a fun car to drive, the paddle shifters are a bit slow, faster on the 335i beemer twin turbo. I test drove these vehicles, CTS, ISF, IS350, BMW335i, Audi S4, C 63 AMG. Like them all. Ended up with IS350 and it's a good practical choice. Fuel economy is above average, comfort is good. Fit n finish this car is an excellent value, picked up the 09' for 7k less than asking price, car is fully loaded, plus 3m invisible shield, tint, nav. No question about it, great value, fit n finish is...? Well let's just say it's a Lexus.

This car is beyond words. I just purchased this car and I can not stop driving this thing. It is my first luxury sports sedan and first car I am owning. I have to say I am very impressed with the overall quality of this car. It is 4 years old now (2008 model) but shows terrific condition and durability. The car has a stunning look and turns heads everywhere I go. The interior is Lexus quality at its finest. They put top notch materials in this car and the cabin is a pleasure to be in. Waking up every morning to this car is like a dream come true. Get this car you will not regret it!

I just picked up my new IS 350 with Nav and 18" wheels. Love the exterior styling. Tons of options are standard and fully loaded comes in considerably under the competition (328i, A4 and G37). Drove all three, driver feedback seemed to rank out with the BMW and Audi with a very slight edge the G37 was comparable in driving feel. All 4 were nice and decision was tough. It came down to bang for the buck, reliability, and maintenance costs and the Lexus was the clear winner in these vital areas. For the record 2nd choice, BMW 328 or 335i but cost for comparably equipped car was not realistic for me.

I went from a 2004 IS 300 (bought new) to the 2012 IS 350 (used). I have had the car for a month and here are my first impressions.: 1. Slow starter. My IS300 had a manual transmission that I miss dearly. The IS 350 automatic even in sport mode has significant delay to move. There is also the delay when punching it to exit a corner. The IS 350 has more torque but at higher RPM and weighs more than 300 lbs more. Acceleration on the highway with the IS350 is significantly better. 2. Handling nimbleness. I definitely feel the weight difference and the IS350 has more understeer so I find myself correcting more in the turns. The IS350 is a cruiser car and not an enthusiasts car. The IS350 with the 225/45 and 245/45 tires sticks to the road on corners. Haven't broken it free except when starting from a stop on wet pavement. (I think this was because of the lack of a limited slip differential which my old IS had.) 3. Modern comforts. The IS350 is so nice to have bluetooth, a great stereo that is tuned to the cabin and it is much quieter inside. The keyless entry is great too. 4. Reliability. My IS300 was extremely reliable for the 14 years I owned it. I expect the IS350 to be the same. In summary, the IS350 is more of a comfort car than a drivers car. I will drive it for a year until I can find the drivers car with reliability that I have been searching for.

Bottom Line- Ultimate compromise between sport and luxury. Very quick, smooth, glides over nicks and crannies in the road. I spend plenty of time on the road- love the silent ride! On the contrary, when the pedal hits the mat, the engine makes an extremely defined roar. Comfortable as hell up front, not so in the back. If I was at the track every day, 335i would be my choice. If I needed a car that would accommodate my daily driving with comfort and performance- no brainer- IS350. Excellent Audio.

Have only put 500 miles on our new black with cashmere interior. Initial observataions: build quality excellent, power dramatic. Interior very comfortable for two in the front seats; I think the back seats are for children only. The placement of the driver's power window buttons is odd and uncomfortable to access, otherwise interior layout is good. Despite the large engine, I have so far averaged 26 mpg for mostly highway driving. That is outstanding! Test drove one with the sport suspension; the wife thought it was much too harsh - there really is quite a difference so you should try both.

I just received my Lexus IS 350 that I had special ordered with the Luxury PKG. This car is incredible. It's like driving a high performance cloud. It's so smooth and quiet, but yet you don't have to press the gas pedal very hard to make the car take off like a rocket. The build quality is fantastic, and everything is put together nicely. The interior is high quality. I have to say it's the best car I have ever owned.

Traded in a ES350 and although it was a wonderful car, it didn't feel like it was MY personal car. The IS350 gives you that personal car feel and it is super fast and comfortable. I have yet to see another one in the city which also makes you feel special. Wonderful automobile with comfort and style.

Just got the car a few days ago. Excellent graduation gift for myself. Most beautiful car for the money IMO. Sat nav is very slick. Instantaneous highway mpg on the M.I.D. can be ~30 if you don't drive like a hooligan. The ride is on the stiff side, so bumpy roads spoil the fun. Likely exacerbated by 18" alloys. Small price to pay, though. High trunk line and thick c-pillar make parallel parking a challenge, but rear-view camera helps. takes some getting used to. Small rear seats, but I'm 5'11"/145 lbs and I fit fine, great for keeping out fat people. Armrest has aux-in and USB in, plus cig lighter socket (should be 110 V outlet - another socket already exists in front of the gear lever).

Just bought a 2010 Lexus IS 350. Bought this car as a third owner used. I got a really good deal on it. All stock and this car is absolutely amazing. Every single thing works and this car shifts and rides like its new at 120,000 miles. I already know Lexus/Toyota is reliable but I am truly impressed. I know this car will have no problem getting to 200,000 or more with proper maintenance. Almost all of the exterior and interior design/technology hold up to todays standards. Zero regrets purchasing this vehicle.

This car is the best I've ever owned overall. The only thing I would trade would be a BMW sport suspension, but it's not worth all the frustration I've had with my 535i ($20k more than the IS!). I've had both the 250 and 350. I stuck with the IS350 because I value the acceleration, but the IS250 is really great and sporty with good mileage. The rear wheel drive platform has very precise steering with a firm suspension that still soaks up bumps pretty well. If you like a cushy, quiet ride, go with the ES. BMW, Acura, and Infiniti don't hold a candle to the overall combination of performance, reliability, and dealer experience. There is no better service department than that of Lexus.

I love my IS-350. It is fun to drive, comfortable, great looking and handles nicely. The prompt response when needed or wanted is awesome when slipping into manual trans mode. Nav system is to be desired. It has some good points and I used it on several occasions to find my way but the voice recognition is worthless. Audio system is OK but it would be nice to see the track name and not just a number on CDs. Limited rear seat leg room could be a problem but I seldom use it so I deal with it. Memory front seats should be standard, after all, this is a Lexus.

I purchased a Lexus IS350 with fabric seats in 2008 autumn. I traded a 1992 Mercedes-Benz 260E for it. My IS350 has average fuel consumption of 23.5mpg, far better than that of 20.4mpg for the Mercedes 260E. The acceleration is very exhilarating, reaching 0-62mph times of 5.2sec, SS1/4miles is about 14.2sec (That's not far from the best data of 13.5sec, of an American media.). Namely, my IS350's level of performance is about the same level as that of the Mercedes E550,the BMW335i,and even a Maserati Quattroporte of 401 horsepower! Max speed of my Japanese version is electronically limited at 180km/h (112mph), but if the limiter removed, it has the potential of reaching 270-280km/h (170-175mph).

I decided on the IS350 mainly because of the great experiences I had from my IS250 in Asia. It is not a BMW, but I know it's likely to give me less trouble. I upgraded the sway bar with the F-sports parts, and it is definitely worth every penny.

My last car was a 2001 BMW 330. I like the power of the Lexus. The car is much quieter then the BMW; both cars are first class. The Lexus looks too much like a compact car. At the same time it still come with a lot of luxury. The cost of the Lexus is pretty high too. I plan to keep this car for around 5 years. We'll have to see how much it cost to keep it up.

I admit that I've only owned my IS350 for about six weeks now but I am very impressed with it so far. My wife drives a 2004 Lexus RX330 so we were already familiar with the outstanding build quality of Lexus vehicles. My last three cars had been Mercedes C-Classes. Those were nice cars but Lexus has left Mercedes in the dust with the standard features, power, comfort and overall quality of the IS350. What may be the most impressive is the value of the IS350 for the money spent but that has to compete with the hustle this car shows and the way it hunkers down when going into corners at speed. It is a really fun car to own and drive!

Never thought that I would get a Lexus over a Bmw or Mercedes. Bmw has always ruled the market, but after driving the Lexus i have to ask why? The Lexus is EVERYTHING and more than the Bmw 335i and almost 12k less-loaded out. Performance is excellent, it's quiet, all the controls are where they should be - it's perfect. I would totally recommend this car if you are looking at a performance-luxury small sedan.

Let me start by saying I test drove many cars before selecting the Lexus IS 350 (C350, 335i, G35, G37, CTS). I believe it has the best combination of performance and luxury in this market segment. The car is very fast, the interior is terrific, with very soft leather and a nice dash layout. The seats are very comfortable. I have the navigation and the Mark Levinson sound system options and the sound is fantastic! The gas mileage is not that great but is costs a little extra to go fast! Best car I have ever owned and the service at the dealership has been excellent. So far I have about 6000 miles with zero problems. Did I mention that this car is fast!! And comfortable. ++

Bought the 2009 Lexus IS 350 after considering the Infiniti G35, Acura TL, and Nissan Maxima. Loved the quick, agile Lexus and the smooth powertrain. Exterior is a beauty in the Tungston Pearl (silver). Interior has all the comfort of a luxury car with lots of performance and power. I never was much of a driving enthusiast but this car has me looking for windy roads to have some fun. I was on the verge of getting the new Acura but felt the Lexus was more fun to drive.

So close to being perfect, a shame they blew a few details that make it less than so. The luxury/sporty balance is second to none. ML stereo sounds wonderful although XM sounds crappy (not Lexus's fault - it's XM's signal compression). The nav is awful. It suffers from obvious language/requirement translation issues in the design cycle - such a shame. Stupid limitations and just not user friendly. Nothing about it is intuitive. Speech recognition is worst- in-class - inability to recognize simple commands render it unusable. Bluetooth only auto-connects with one phone - how dumb is that. Very limited steering wheel controls mean constantly trying to navigate menus.

Bought a certified pre-owned at a Lexus dealership that at the time was 5 years old, just under 70k miles, and every year had at least 1 major issue or recall. Within the first 4 years, I have had the car die on me three times while driving it, and towed to the dealership. At the 5 year mark, 150k miles, had to replace a CAT (over $1000), and car burns a quart of oil every 300 miles (piston rings). $30k for a 5-year car was not worth it. Looking forward to mainstream electric cars.

Coming from a 2002 BMW 330ci, the Lexus IS 350 leaves a lot to desire. My main concern is the transmission, first of all they don't even make a manual transmission for the car, second of all, the "manual" shifts with paddle shifters are horribly delayed, it's at least 1.5 seconds when I am driving hard, this defeats the purpose of a high performance car. Even the 02 bmw had faster steptronic shifts. I agree with the quick acceleration and engine smoothness. My second concern is the handling, the car feels heavy when taking turns at +/- 25mph speed. Suspension must be improved a little bit. Aside of those two things I think the car looks great and its got a really nice "classy" interior.

I test drove the 335i, G35, G37, Acura TL, and A4. The BMW was easily the best driving car in every aspect, more refined, fluid, and precise by far. I went with the IS because of the reliability for my wife, plus she liked the interior. So far the IS has been in the shop four times for squeaks & rattles. The car handles like a Buick compared to the BMW. The suspension is harsh and the car has needless understeer, always pushing and sliding the front end beyond the intended arc. There really is no feel in the controls (steering, throttle, and brakes). If your near retirment age and want a melow driving exp this car is great. Fit and finish are great and the car does have a strong engine.

Just can't find a car as nice with both style and performance. It may not be the best in class in one particular aspect but it really is the best all round luxury sports car, hands down.

I came from driving a highly modified Toyota MR2 turbo. I miss the stick, but the smooth powerful acceleration more than makes up for it. The car is quiet, sometimes too quiet and the ride is firm, but smooth. I have around 2000 miles on so far and enjoy every mile of driving this car. I feel so grown up driving this car too!

Test drove MB C350, Caddy CTS, Infiniti G37, M35X, Jag XF. All great cars however for me the IS 350 had the most bang for the buck. It is very fast, (5.1 secs 0-60), handling and quality are awesome and Smokey Granite Mica paint with light gray interior is absolutely gorgeous IMO. The ride is a little harsher as the suspension was returned for 2009, however the handling makes up for it and is never too harsh. AND I’ve been averaging 25 MPG about 50/50% city/hwy driving. My Infiniti G35C only Avg 21 MPG... I made the right decision, a lot of car for the money!

I switched from an 03 BMW 530i. Yes I gave up a lot of interior room; but thats it! I gained so much more when I purchased this vehicle. It's faster, more reliable, better looking, fit and finish is worlds apart from BMW. Did I mention more reliable; so long to numerous trips to the repair shop. I am really enjoying this ride!

I love this car! It's so much fun, I love the power! I had a 2002 Celica GT before this, with like 140 HP and now I have 309 HP and omg, it's awesome! My Celica was a manual and unfortunately the IS 350 only comes in automatic, which I don't like at all, but the paddle shifter's are ok. I'd still prefer a manual though. The interior of the car is was sold me! I love everything about it! The outside could be more aggressive, but they make body kit's now, so that's what I'm getting. Overall the car is so awesome... so much fun!!

I have been driving the car since April 2012 I have never had any mechanical problem, I have had 3 accidents 2 my fault but only body damage. Once in the rear, left front, right front so it has a practically new body. $29,000.00 total. It has by far been the best car I have owned. Just turned over 80,000 miles

The car is Lexus, what else needs to be said. While people complain about the car being too tame, it's no more than an excuse because all the vehicle control systems can be disabled easily with the press of a button. Once that's done, the car is fun as Hell! People who know quality know Lexus is top notch. To love a car is to love the detail, and detail is one thing Lexus pays attention to in every car.

My IS 350 has been in shop 6 times (21 days) for 8 squeaks and rattles in the 2 months of ownership! I've never owned a car with so many issues regarding squeaks and rattles. I very disappointed with my IS at this time. What happen to the Lexus quality from 10 years ago? My last Lexus never had such issues as this car does.

Still more luxury than sports sedan.

The Lexus IS 350 is still more luxury than sports sedan. Straight-line performance is fantastic, and the automatic transmission is smooth. I am a tall/large guy and this car fits me well, due largely to a very adjustable driver's seat. The intake and exhaust notes could be more pronounced like on the BMW 3. The brakes and tires are high-performance versions (something tells me to compete better in comparos with the 3-series) and will wear out quickly, so be prepared to replace them often or get the less performance- oriented / higher-mileage substitutes. The body styling is wonderful, this car is truly curvy and beautiful.

The IS 350 is a very good alternative to the BMW 3-series. I was planning to get a 335i coupe, but gave the IS 350 a look and I liked the IS better than the bimmer. Dont get me wrong, the BMW handled real nice (free maintenance for 4 years is tough to beat), but I do most of my driving on the highway, so I needed that a car that has both comfort and performance. The IS also looks better than the BMW, and it was less noisy (dealership told me it was due to run flat tires).

The IS is just amazing! What a car, the best looking car I have seen in a long long time, and wow the interior rocks. Thought just a little about buying the ES, but not a chance when I seen the IS, ES looks now too much for the older Buick type of a crowd. The car is just fun, love to drive it, and can't wait to drive it everyday!

I absolutely love my IS 350. I looked at many cars in this class (BMW 335i, A4, Acura TL, Mercedes C class, etc.). I really didn't even want to look at the Lexus because everyone seems to be driving Lexuses these days and I wanted something different. However, once I saw the IS I changed my mind. We have had no problems and driving is very fun. The car is fast, but not as much road noise as other cars had. I had to get the luxury package to get the memory position seats and love having the heated and ventilated front seats. The interior is loaded and very comfortable.

The IS 350 is a great car. Beautiful inside and out. Very fast! You will never want for power. I traded in a 350Z anniversary and this car is faster! Great sound system. Love the seats. Looked at all the cars in this class and this car is better in every way. Test this car last because you will love it, and buy it! Black with tan is hot. It turns heads eveywhere I go.

Pros/Likes: Very silent, smooth V6 engine, powerful acceleration and pulls hard beyond 4000rpm, excellent brakes, bulletproof electrics, excellent base sound-system, vented heated seats great in summer, soft plastics are a pleasure to the touch, nice LED lighting ambiance inside. Absolutely nothing like a regular Toyota (even though people love to say Lexus are overpriced Toyota... NOT). Cons/dislikes: Too silent for my tastes (needs a BMW like I6 grunt), awkward position of clock, tripmeter odo is not separate, navigation takes time to get used to, very limited headroom (I'm 5'9" and my head brushes the headliner with the seat all the way flat).

As a Lexus enthusiast I was excited to trade in my 02 IS300 for an upgrade to all the new technology that is instilled in the 08 IS350. Interior comfort and performance is premier, but after many trips to the garage, I still feel that my IS 300 had superior styling. I was hoping that after many hours of staring that I would fall in love :(

I'm shocked at the amount of rattles this car has in the first few thousands miles. As of today 7 squeaks and rattles!! I've been to the dealer 7 times with poor results. I was informed that they were "noise" issues not rattles and to deal with them as the nature of the car. Not the Lexus service they advertise! Do not buy this car if squeaks and rattles bother you.

Pros - power, handling, ride comfort, overall appearance, decent gas mileage considering its 306 HP output, quiet and smooth. Cons - poor instrument panel on the center console. HORRIBLE FUZZY LED panel (not a defect, all ISs are like that), Gas mileage could be better, lack of remote start (even by a third party).
