better than any 3 eries or audi out ther
my boy has the 330c1 and the ride was so rough i needed two pain killers when i get out of the car. the audi A4S is blindingly fast with with no control on the road.Lexus IS 300 gives you a balance of all superb handiling, great acceleration , and a decent ride.

Yeah baby!
This car is outstanding to drive. Its handling is great, especially when going into a curve. At least once a week I have someone asking me about the vehicle. Get one of these.
The perfect most styled sedan
this car is near perfect. it looks as good as it drives. the inside very well done. all leather. the controls for A/C is great nothing too confusing. the snow mode is way cool up in the mtns. gauges are well designed and very accurate. and let me tell you this car moves for an inline 6. i got it up to 120 no problem on the freeway. if you're looking for something thats top of the line luxary but is fast and fun to drive and handles similar to an EVO, hook it up with this car. it will not dissapoint.
Great car
I love almost everything about the car. I test drove and BMW 325CI also but if you ask me, this car drives way smoother than the BMW.
Best Car I've Ever Owned!
For those of you who say this car drives like a Honda you cannot drive. My last car was an Accord and although it was a good car, it was nothing like my new Lexus. Incredible handling and comfort, and I LOVE having a car that was made in limited numbers that I don't see 75 of every day.
Good Car
I love this car, handling is super, and it very fun to drive and always great to look at. However, even family cars like Altima and Accord already have 240hp, Lexus should give some more horsepower to the next generation IS(around 260-280 would be good enough)... Performance aside, this car is very reliable, I had this car for more than two years and no find problem at all..
Great buy
Great buy, with recent incentives.
Best purch I ever made
Bought it new. Have put on 135K miles so far with no problems other than normal wear items. Runs like a top. Still love to drive this car. Wonderfully crisp handling, great powerband. No probs w/fuel economy. I get the mfr's rating of 25 mpg on the highway with 70mph cruising. One of Toyota's finest creations.
awesome
I've had this car for a month. I test drove Audi 1.8T, but this car out performs Audi in every respect. This is is the best value for the money when it comes to luxury sedans. I love it
Awesome Car
This car is hot. I love it, and would not trade it for any other car in its class. I test drove both the 3.2tl and g35 as well as the 328i. This car has no comparision to any of these.
A real SportCross owner!
Our SportCross is our 1st Lexus and most definately will not be our last! The transmission shifts like silk and the handling is superb and sharp. The other so-called SportCross owners above are most assurredly bogus and probably will never experience Lexus quality and dependability. We love Our Lexus IS300 SportCross! P.S For the owner above who wanted to disable their vehicle skid control just push the TSC button on the dash.
This Car Is Sweet
I bought this car after much research. Looked at Tl Type-s, Infinity G35, I35, but once I got in the IS300 I was sold. The styling (inside and out) is WAY cooler that all others. This car has an amazingly smooth and powerful engine, even seems more powerful than the G35....(maybe it's the electronic trottle.) The traction is AWESOME. It handles the corners with no body roll at all. This car is extremly fun to drive. Get one.
Excellent car
Excellent car, typical Toyota build quality, A-1!!! Fun to drive, very comfortable. Bulletproof drivetrain from the 2JZ-GE motor(from Supara's past) super reliable.
I'm satisfied
I test drove the IS and the 3-series BMW. The IS was crisper handling, but the BMW seemed to do the "little things" better, particularly quality of materials. But by the time you got them comparably equipped, the BMW was $4-5000 more expensive. While I think that the BMW is slightly better, it's just not $5000 better! I've been driving the IS since last August and even now I still haven't found any annoying flaws. Count me satisfied.
Great, Fun, good re-sale and RELIABILITY
I like it alot. ZERO problem with the car so far. Only a light bulb is replaced. Other than that, regular 5k maintenance is all I did. Great handling, great acceleration, very comfortable interior. Quiet for a sport car. Overall, a better car than Acura CL-S, 350Z, Audi A4 and C240. No regret buying the IS-300.
IS300
Description: 2002 Lexus IS300 4d 5spd. Silver/Tan cloth. This is a great car. I test drove this and the BMW 330i on an autocross and was amazed when I walked away saying I liked the Lexus better. Highly recommended.
Excellent balance of perf. and luxury
Even after a brief period of ownership, I am very happy with the car. Handling and brakes are excellent, I6 is very strong, and the vehicle is full of features. My previous vehicle was an Audi TT Quattro, and the only thing I really miss is the AWD. However, I love the RWD dynamics and the excellent Torsen differential in the IS.
lexus - great job!
i have 3 automobiles in my household. bmw 328i, lexus es300,lexus rx300. when we do get our car serviced both dealers give us rental cars to drive while being serviced,, we often ask for the is300 on purpose because that car is so much fun to drive,,i love it,,,i want to get a bmw330 because of the power and of course i am still a bmw die hard fan,,but i really love this is300,,,if they make a lexus is330- i am so there. clay-dallas,tx
IS 300
I love this car! I had to replace my last BMW 328i and with the reviews of seen of the IS 300, I just had to buy it. I love the handling of this car. Its a great combination of style, performance and luxury! I would not hesitate to buy it again. Sporty RWD and double wishbone suspension makes handling great, nice torquey 3.0L I6 engine makes for perfect balance and smoothness, luxurious interior that comes along with plethora of options and comfort, exterior styling very rich and lively.
motor city is300 5speed
2,000 miles later I am happy I picked the IS300 over the BMW 330i. Even after the $2200 chrome wheel option, I saved almost $3k versus the BMW and the car has received more attention than it's popular counterpart. Potholes in the Motor City are plentiful, but the stiff ride is confident and composed. I'm 6' 4'' and have ample headroom even with the moonroof option. Strong braking and acceleration compare favorably to the BMW but the shift gate can be a bit tight at full throttle. Nonetheless, this car is a pleasure to own.
Sporty and Solid
I compared the sportcross with the BMW wagon and hands down the sportcross was the better deal - not just in terms of price but the performance was excellent. I love this car and disagree with the edmund reviews that this is more suitable for the "baggy pant masses". This is definitely NOT your parents wagon, but it's a great car for someone who wants the flexibility/cargo of a wagon without the wagon look.
Wow what a car!!!
The IS300 is fun to drive with great handling and braking. The engine needs a little more pep to it but overall well worth ever penny.
Love it
great car, handles like a go-kart
a great deal for the price
I've driven the Mercedes M-class and S-class and the new 7-series BMW at home but these cars don't make me feel the IS any worst. It has a great look and excellent performance in an affordable price. The navigation system is much better than the mercedes' and BMW's. However, the only bad thing is the small trunk space and uncomfortable back seats.
Drives like a BMW
It was the test drive won me over. Totally surprised by the feel and how the car handles.
Easily best in it's class
The IS easily beats out the BMW330 and the Audi A4 considering the extra thousands you'll be putting down for the same options. I got the 5spd, leather, NAV, everything but heated seats. That's because I found the only 5spd with NAV in all of Atlanta at the time. Looks great, pretty good power, great brakes, handles like a beast. Interior could use some more luxury for my taste, some wood here and there, but the stereo is powerful, and the Nav is great and easy to understand. Excellent performance/luxury rear drive car for the money.
Helluva Car
Fabulous car, well designed and extremely fun to drive
Nice all around
I bought this car used with 76k miles on it. Traded in a Mitsu SUV and I was on a budget. I found this car for under $11k. Car is very fun to drive with quick acceleration and great handling. Ride is a little stiffer than what I'm used to, but hey I went from an SUV to a compact sport sedan. Auto tranny shifts nicely, the interior is nice and has an easy layout.
I love my Car
It was the handling that sold me on this car.
It's a great car but not a 3 Series
This has been a fun car to drive. Very reliable and solid.
Great, Fun and Exciting Car...
After taking this car for a test drive, I was sold. So far after a year and 2 months I have had no problems and I feel like a kid everytime I get into it to drive. The mixture of the auto transmission with the optional E-shift feature is down right awesome. I find the E-Shift is best used when you are on the interstate and want to drop a gear to fly by someone. The mixture of the sound system and DVD Navigation and all the other features really make this a fun and exciting car. The ladies like it as well. ;)
sweet car
drives unbelievably, very responsive and quick, wish i had got the 5 speed though
It's been over a year - no regrets
I've had my 2002 IS300 for over a year now. I still love it. Sure, it's not the fastest of the bunch (still pretty quick) and has clear taillights (like every souped up civic out there). However, it makes up for it in so many ways. The car fits me like a glove. It's also nice to be one of only a few IS owners in my area vs the hoards of BMW owners. Overall, I have no regrets with my purchase. The only thing I might change would be to get a 5spd. But the e-shift provides a good compromise between performance and sitting in traffic.
Used Lexus
Got the Lexus used with 67k. Love the Nav system, leather, power seats. Car has plenty of power and handles perfectly, while the car is still smooth and quiet. Would have gotten a BMW but went with the Lexus quality. For 21.5K OTD, much better than a base model new accord and camry.
Best car I have ever owned.
Hands down the most fun I have had owning a car. Drive it 100+ miles daily, for 6 years and still loving it. Other than normal maintenance no problems. I have never kept a car this long, usually 4 years and out, but I am looking forward to 4 more years with this one.
Excellent all around Sports Sedan
I wanted a car that was fun to drive and was different than any other car on the road. The IS was the answer to both of my needs. It's smooth shifting 3.0L 6cyl engine is responsive and the E-shift comes in handy for highway passing. DON'T drive this car if you are someone who likes to blend in with the crowd...this car is a POSITIVE attention getter!!!
Just needs a supercharger
I own a 99 BMW 328i manual and a 2001 IS 300 sedan; here is my take on the two cars. Lexus has better performance all around except for acceleration. Brakes and handling are amazing on the IS and the build quality has been very good. Dealer experience with JM Lexus of Florida has been the best part of owning this car! Bottom line, give this Lexus a manual and a TRD supercharger and it will compete with an M3 on the performance front while costing 10K less after the supercharger.
What's a Bimmer?
I think this car is at the top of the sport sedan list!
still fun to drive after 1 year
15000 miles and one year later, I still enjoy driving this car. That is a first for me. Considered BMW and I glad I got this instead. Great handling, quick, just fun. Now, how about a convertible version??
IS 300
I have owend this car for 10 months, and has been a great car. The I6 is very smooth. Nice power is based on the Toyota Supra 2JZ-GE motor. The 5sp Manual has nice concise shifts. Feels solid. The Manual is almost .5 of a second faster than the Auto, It also has a stiffer suspension.
I love my CAR!
This car is a blast to drive. And it looks as good as it drives. I can't go a day without taking it for a spin. Try it, you'll like it!
Great Car with few Exceptions
This is a great car, but I have had a couple problems with it. No matter what the dealer tells you about rear wheel cars, don't believe it. I had a $13,000 front wheel drive car for 7 years. I lived in NJ, PA, IL, and SD (Yes, South Dakota). I lived in rain, snow, sleet, and ice. Out of the 7 years, I never got in an accident and never get stuck. I then traded it for a $33,000 rear wheel Lexus last year. Since I have had this rear wheel drive car, I have fishtailed a dozen times, got stuck in the snow 3 times, and yesterday (the cherry on top of the sundae) slid off the road into a telephone poll.
Best in class
Im 36 and not small by any means. I thought the IS300 was for younger folk. Then I went for a test drive. Its lagrer inside than the Volvo, BMW, and Audi. Its also funner, faster and a blast to drive. The sound system is is better than my home theater system. I have had the car for over a month now and have zero complaints. I live in a area with too much traffic, and the IS300 lets me zip through it when I can. Its also nice when you can blow past a Mustang GT, and get better miledge while doing it.
Impressive Sport Sedan from Lexus!
After owning a BMW 323i and having to stay in that same price range, i decided not to go for the 325i and pay an extra 3000 for a 14 hp improvement over the 323. I test drove the lexus and fell in love with it. Very comfortable, handles great, engine is nice (would have like a few more horses), but overall, an EXCELLENT sport sedan for the price. Oh, and did I mention, it is sooo fun to drive.
Awesome car for the price...
The car handles extremly well. I opted for 16" tires since I live in an area that gets snow anually. The ride on 16"s is very nice, 17" tires may give you a slightly bumpier ride but the car will really stick to the ground. It is a very quick car. About 7 seconds 0 to 60. I hate SUV's and many SUV drivers have tried to race me but they have all failed everytime. The car is even fast from 0 to 80. The car continues to excellerate fast at 50 and 60 mph. This is a great car for passing those annoying SUV's and Vans on the highways. The interior is awesome. The airconditioner is very cold and does not take away any power from the engine.
lexus is300
awesome car really great, reliable, dependable, fast, easy, car...verrrry fun!
Wow!!
Superb Handling, good acceleration, Very comfortable even with 17" rims. test drove the BMW 330Ci, glad i bought the IS300.
Fantastic sports sedan
I wanted a BMW, until I drove this car! It is beautifully equipped for thousands less than a comparable 330i and the performance is outstanding. It never fails to get comments wherever I go, and I love to drive it.
Our 2002 Lexus Sportcross
Ours is full of add-ons to include navigation, leather, heated seats, etc, but the most appreciated add-ons are the Limited-Slip Differential coupled with Vehicle Skid Control. Cornering is uncanny and with superior braking makes a very competitive vehicle. Service is poor locally, so we drive 2 1/2 hours one way to the Charleston dealership. It is of the same quality as the car.
