I love my new Lexus. Previously I drove Volvos but wanted to try something new. I am so happy I did. It is a fun car to drive and very pretigeous. Handles well on the road and in town driving. Gets fairly good gas mileage.

After having owned five LS sedans, I opted for the ES this time around, and I have not been disappointed. The ES is a super quiet, comfortable ride, and the V6 engine is adequate. All this, and on regular fuel, too.

After owning a 2002 es300 this 2004 has several outstanding improvements. The mileage, power, comfort, stereo, seats, handling, and general overall design has been GREATLY improved. The 2002 es300 was a great car and we had over 23,000 miles on it, but the opportunity became available to upgrade to the 2004 and it was a very pleasent surprise! The color, interior and accessories, are all identical to the 2002, but it has so many little improvements, that this was definitely the right thing to do. Service at the dealers has been exceptional.

I got my new Lexus in December and have been very satisfied. It rides like a dream and handles beautifully. I got the mist green and the color is great. The steering wheel is so comfortable with its wood and leather inserts. It is a great looking car that lives up to the reputation of Lexus. I must say my dealer (Lexus of New Haven) has also been wonderful. Service is reliable and you are treated courteously. My husband drives a LS400 from them and we would not hesitate to purchase from them again. If you are considering a Lexus....go drive the ES330...you'll be hooked.

Like others, I have noticed transmission issues. Stopping at a stop sign and immediately starting again confuse the tranny. I have not had problems elsewhere. Freeway driving, merging, acceleration to get out of a jam...all excellent. No pull to the left issues w/mine. Drive the one you're going to buy. The interior is beautiful, comfy and convenient. The CD changer in the center console limits storage capacity. For the HP, the car is not responsive from 0, but, handles driving at speed nicely. I also like the Comfort vs. Sport suspension adjustment - it provides a noticeable difference in ride and handling. Beautiful car-should perform better.

Great car! Great value for the price. Gas mileage is very good for a car of its size. I don't think the new design is as sharp as the old version 300 but when you sit down in this car you know its a quaility automobile. Don't think I agree with the decisssion to change the body style in 2003 and in 04 change the version from 300 to 330. I would expect Lexus to have changed the number when the body style was change,

The car has been good by all acounts except the transmission. It hesitates, slips into 4th and has a "jerk" to it at low speeds. I have had it in the shop on 3 different occasions and have been told the dealer can do no more. There are several customers with the same problem as I found out when I went to the NHTSA web site. This is a software problem with this car and the RX330, please do more investigating than I did.

After searching for the right car,I chose a Lexus over Infinity BMW,Acura,Volvo,Saab,Jaguar and Mercedes. My experience with the Lexus dealership was wonderful and was the most professionally run dealership I visited. The quality of this car is simply AMAZING! This was by far the QUIETEST car I drove. The Fit,finish, and performance of this car was better than any of the other brands. I got a 3.75% interest rate and got a heck of a deal on the car too. I only wish I could have purchased TWO of them.

I've written Lexus Customer (NON) Satisfaction 3 times--they've called me back twice only to tell me the transmission is "operating as designed". Funny they would say that automatically without driving the car. Service writers and salespeople at the dealership know there's a problem and say there is no fix. SM told me that Lexus said to use premium gas and it may help--so they KNOW there's a problem. I've counted 21 complaints on this site. Is anyone working a Class Action, or had any luck getting some compensation in the way of a buy-back? Please e-mail me your experiences and the actions you've taken and maybe we can get something done. JGawry@aol.com

This is a very smooth, quiet car. The performance is good for a car that is just billed as a luxury sedan. The fuel economy is great: 17/29 actual mpg. After 9,000 miles, I have no complaints about the quality of the car. My wife had a flat tire in the rain 900 miles from home. She called the 1- 800 roadside service. A local dealership called within 10 minutes and was there in 20 minutes. The driver called twice in route to assure her he was on the way. We received a follow-up phone call and a customer satisfaction survey.

This car has a look, styling and feel of a real machine. The driver has everything in perfect position for ease of use. You really have a luxury ride in a sporty car. The seats are extremely comfortable as your body is wrapped inside. The car corners well and excellerates smoothly as use reach high speeds. I like riding it each day. It feels great.

This is my second Lexus. I first had the IS 300 and was looking for a car that handled the snow better. So far my ES 330 has not been a disappointment. I feel safe in this car and I also feel that due to the superior braking ability that this car had saved my life. The fuel economy is great considering the weight of the car. The car is also very quiet and solid with no loose parts that rattle when driving. I also love my rear sun shade that keeps the sun glare out of my car when sunny it also keeps my car cool on hot days.

We bought the ES a little over a year ago and traded it over a week ago for a sportier car. The ES is an excellent sedan built for comfort and rolling isolation. I just had a change of taste for something sportier and more fun to drive.

Bought new just before the '05 version took over, and still love it! Tires (Michelin) have gone away quickly; could it be the driver? The car is divine. Driver's seat was replaced at one year of age when power lumbar support died.

This has honestly been the best and most reliable car I’ve ever own. My parents bought it used with about 90k miles back in 2012. I even drove it to my prom. My parents gave it to me a few years back and now in 2024 it has 291k miles and still floats like a boat with the original motor and transmission. She is as quiet as it was back when my parents got it. The only things outside of oil changes, batteries, brakes and tires i’ve replaced (all done myself) is the alternator and starter. I drive door dash with it and put about 1000 or more miles a week. So if you want a nice reliable car with a quiet and nice ride. Grab one of these for cheap and you’ll be good to go.

I find the car to be less quiet and comfortable than expected. There is too much interior noise and road noise for an entry level luxury car. The motor, though powerful enough for city and highway driving, seems to strain when accelerating. Some good points include the A/C and stereo systems and ample trunk and passenger room. Overall, I find the car very average.

Watch Out: Poor Transmission

The 5speed automatic suffers from hestitation and lack of smoothness and feel when shifting from 1st to 2nd, and 2-3rd. The hesitation and then surge of power is not only unpleasant, but can be unsafe. Lexus has been aware of this problem on ES300 and ES330 for 3years and has no fix. Warning: check discussion groups online for information before buying!

This cars transmission hesitates very badly when accelerating off the line. I have used premium fuel. This does not help at all. Lexus will not fix it. Please read all the other consumer complaints in these reviews. Time for a class-action lawsuit. I love the rest of the car but this transmission problem is ruining my enjoyment of driving my new car.

Very powerful car with great amenities. But the car has a pull to to the left that the mechanics can't seem to get rid off. It is particularly noticable at highway speeds. Otherwise the car is comfortable and gets good gas mileage.

This vehicle is nice to look at for a four door, but is missing out on several qualities that would make it better. THe navigational system is not user friendly, and the hesitation when engaging the passing gear is something that makes me have no confidence that the car will get me out of a tight spot in traffic. I will go back to an Acura which is a very responsive car. The way the CD's need to be loaded into the console leave no room for anything. There is absolutely NO room in the car to put anything...ie: the ashtray is useless...too small. NO real cup holders.THis model desperately needs thumb controls for the stereo on the steering wheel.

Weird Shifting Trans

This car is smooth riding and comfortable, but the transmission is funky. If you accelerate quickly or slowly, it is fine. But, if you are in- between, or change your mind and let off the accelerator, the shifting gets confused and the transmission even slips occasionally. I would hope for a recall of some sort to fix this, once Lexus gets enough complaints.
