Good, but not great.
This is a very smooth, quiet car. The performance is good for a car that is just billed as a luxury sedan. The fuel economy is great: 17/29 actual mpg. After 9,000 miles, I have no complaints about the quality of the car. My wife had a flat tire in the rain 900 miles from home. She called the 1- 800 roadside service. A local dealership called within 10 minutes and was there in 20 minutes. The driver called twice in route to assure her he was on the way. We received a follow-up phone call and a customer satisfaction survey.

solid car, but should have done research
The car has been good by all acounts except the transmission. It hesitates, slips into 4th and has a "jerk" to it at low speeds. I have had it in the shop on 3 different occasions and have been told the dealer can do no more. There are several customers with the same problem as I found out when I went to the NHTSA web site. This is a software problem with this car and the RX330, please do more investigating than I did.
Best Car Yet
Quick acceleration, smooth yet agile handling, and you can hear a pin drop. ...as long as the cabin fan is on low. All controls are easily accessible and the interior is luxuriously appointed. The icing on the cake was the dealer, Hendrick Lexus, in Charlotte; words simply cannot describe how advanced they are in customer service.
Good car with nice looks.
This is a reliable, economic car with good looks as well as with a variaty of safety features. The only drawback is the unconfortable front seats in long drives. If you have chronic low back problems a long trip could exacerbate your disconfort.
I should have bought two of them!
After searching for the right car,I chose a Lexus over Infinity BMW,Acura,Volvo,Saab,Jaguar and Mercedes. My experience with the Lexus dealership was wonderful and was the most professionally run dealership I visited. The quality of this car is simply AMAZING! This was by far the QUIETEST car I drove. The Fit,finish, and performance of this car was better than any of the other brands. I got a 3.75% interest rate and got a heck of a deal on the car too. I only wish I could have purchased TWO of them.
Do not buy this car!
After driving a '95 ES 300 for 115,000 miles & 7 years this car is a MAJOR disappointment! Severe hesitation & rough shifting at times, acceleration from a stop is jerky, POOR mpg and overall sluggish. The dealer told me 1) they've had a lot of complaints about the ES330 2)it's a computer problem & 3) there is "NO FIX" for the problems! The 1995 ES 300 drove just as beautifully when I traded it in as the day I bought it. I am so sorry I bought this car!
Simply the best I driven
Just finished my first 1000 miles and this car is simply flawless. Exterior has great looks and designs and interior is absolutely gorgeous. Fine leather, great controls, navigation is outstanding and the Mark Levison sound system is unbelievable.
Excellent but....
Very nice car but the body resembles the Solara way too much
Lexus Owners
The main things about this car are the good solid feel of it, the handling, ride comfort, etc. The color, alabaster, is trememdous in not needing washing often.
HarWadd's Lexus Review
When I traded down to the ES from a GS I was prepared to be disappointed. to the contrary I am extremely pleased with the performance and fuel efficiency of the ES. I am totally satisfied! Peerformance is fabulous and the car is fun to drive.
The Best
This is the finest sedan for the money. Fit and finish cannot be beat. The car is tank quiet and rail smooth. Unbelievable and with reliability second to none you can't go wrong. Run don't walk to buy one. Worth every cent.
Lexus 330---A Great Car
We've owned a Lexus 330 for several months and cannot say anything but good things about it. Its comfortable, reliable, well-built and alot of fun to drive. I would recommend this car to anyone!
I need your feedback!
Purchased new..right off the truck..foolish move..didn't test drive it..find that transmission does not shift properly. Hesitates/holds back from first through second gear. The rest of the package is awesome. Only 1,000 miles on it and Lexus says the car is fine??????? Would love to hear back from other owners about transmission shifting concerns
Excellent
Before buying my lexus I test drove BMW, Mercedes, & others. I am very happy with my Lexus and I'm ready to buy another. The dealer is wonderful when I take it in for service, that's just an oil change and air filter never any other problems.
New Car Honeymoon
Although the handling is not as tight as my last high performance car, I enjoy my new Lexus ES 330 immensely. The size is perfect for 4, and it can accommodate 5 easily. The truck is generous, and the front wheel drive is a carefree comfort in Northern climates. The rear sunscreen is appreciated by back seat passengers, and the safety ratings make this car a prudent choice. Additionally, the dealership has been superb.
FIRST HAND EXPIERENCE
BEING A FIRST TIME LEXUS BUYER I AM VERY PLEASED THE ES330 GIVES A SENSE OF QUALITY AND SECURITY. I ALSO TEST DROVE THE ACURA TL (REMARKABLY IMPRESSED WITH SPACE AND FEATURES)AND THE INFINITI G35 TOO STIFF FOR CHICAGO ROADS.QUALITY AND SAFETY WERE CHIEF CONCERNS AND LEXUS OUT-PACES THE COMPETITION. A DEFFINATE BUY.......
God's gift to car lovers
Its the best car I have yet to own. It beats my LS430 and my RX300. The comfort, the luxury, the class, the build, the color, the exterior....oh, just too sexy!
Great Car
Fantastic Car! After looking at Acura TL, Volvo, Audi I know I made the right choice. Rides like a dream and looks great inside and out.
My Third Lexus
Had it since March, 2004 and purchased on basis of satisfaction with the previous GS300 and ES300.
Our new ES330
This is the 4th Lexus we have purchased, and they just seem to get better and better.
New Lexus ES 330
This is the best car I have owned. I have owned Caddie for the better part of 25 years.
first time lexus owner
Up till now I have always driven a Caddy This car is much smaller and lighter ,but handles very well. For a change I am not always the designated driver. ( The beauty of a 5 passenger car) I like the back up warning system on the Caddy, so I had an after market warning system installed on my Lexus. All in all so far it has been a great car.
Smooth and Silky
This car is quiet, reliable, performs well and gets excellent gas mileage. A pleasure to drive. What else could you want?
get one
It's a stylish, comfortable and affordable vechile. The experience of driving this car so far has been wonderful.
Great Car Value
I bought my 2004 ES 330 in September and I love it. It's extremely quiet and sound proof (I have a hard time knowing when the engine is running),and handles the way I expect a luxury should. Everyone knows the pickup won't give you a rush, but it's plenty fast enough for me. If I wanted speed, I'd bought the GS or SC (if I could afford it). My car is smooth, good looking (black with the gold package), and comfortable as hell, with nearly all the bells and whistles available. My only bad surprise was the right-rear passenger power window stopped working. I brought the car to the dearlership, and they replaced the power window motor at no charge.
I love my Lex
I got my new Lexus in December and have been very satisfied. It rides like a dream and handles beautifully. I got the mist green and the color is great. The steering wheel is so comfortable with its wood and leather inserts. It is a great looking car that lives up to the reputation of Lexus. I must say my dealer (Lexus of New Haven) has also been wonderful. Service is reliable and you are treated courteously. My husband drives a LS400 from them and we would not hesitate to purchase from them again. If you are considering a Lexus....go drive the ES330...you'll be hooked.
Satisfied buyer
I like the way it handles on the Interstate highways and in town traffic.
I Might Buy It Again
Like others, I have noticed transmission issues. Stopping at a stop sign and immediately starting again confuse the tranny. I have not had problems elsewhere. Freeway driving, merging, acceleration to get out of a jam...all excellent. No pull to the left issues w/mine. Drive the one you're going to buy. The interior is beautiful, comfy and convenient. The CD changer in the center console limits storage capacity. For the HP, the car is not responsive from 0, but, handles driving at speed nicely. I also like the Comfort vs. Sport suspension adjustment - it provides a noticeable difference in ride and handling. Beautiful car-should perform better.
330 has big advantage over 300
I held off buying an ES300 until I had the opportunity to try the 330. The transmission is smoother and the acceleration is much better in the 330. Additionally, the model I purchased included the navigation system and the mark levinson audio. For the price, you can't beat it. I have used the navigation system almost daily, clear and easy to use.
lexus es 330
super driving ,i think its better then bmw i'm a german and had on,lexus is much better riding and handling vehicle exellent service toooooooo the best frome sewell is free car washes good maint. all in one super car marianne
Perfomance of Excellence
I'm very pleased with the overall quality, performance, reliability and style of the ES 330.
Smooth and Silky
The quality of the ES 330 is outstanding. The ride is smooth and very quiet. The navigation system is remarkable. Dealer was very courteous and helpful.
Best car I ever owned
In the Lexus 330 I found what I was looking for. A high quality, reliable car with 5 star safety features. I'm 6'1" and fit comfortably in both the front and back seats. The driver seat is well designed, and my back feels better just sitting in it. The interior reflects great attention to detail. The car accellerates smoothly and fully meets my handling expectations. While the exterior design may not turn other drivers heads, it is great value and comfort. It also gets good gas milage, and uses regular gas.
Lexus Es 330
This car is a great deal especially at the price that it is being sold at. Its a luxury car at a fraction of the cost.
Much more than a Camry!
By far the quietest vehicle I've ever owned. It's a womans car and the wife loves it, yet I enjoy driving it too. The 3.3L engine is very powerful yet silent, and there's no torque steer at all, which was a pleasant surprise.
i love my lexus
I have a 2002 es300 i love it!!!!!!!!!
Class Action Needed for Trans
I've written Lexus Customer (NON) Satisfaction 3 times--they've called me back twice only to tell me the transmission is "operating as designed". Funny they would say that automatically without driving the car. Service writers and salespeople at the dealership know there's a problem and say there is no fix. SM told me that Lexus said to use premium gas and it may help--so they KNOW there's a problem. I've counted 21 complaints on this site. Is anyone working a Class Action, or had any luck getting some compensation in the way of a buy-back? Please e-mail me your experiences and the actions you've taken and maybe we can get something done. JGawry@aol.com
What a Car!
I am an ex Acura owner and decided to try a Lexus. The ES 330 is a superb vehicle with a quiet, luxurious ride. Lexus pursuit of perfection comes close with this vehicle. I am glad I waited and didn't buy an ES 300 model. For the price, the features cannot be beat. I would recommend this model to anybody in the new car sedan market. A great buy and a great ride!
Detroit...PAY ATTENTION
First import in over 26 years of driving. Will be hard to go back. Still have my Jeep with 40K miles, and its 3rd set of rotors, 4 sets of breaks, timing chain, alternator, and partial tranny rebuild. The lexus, all you do is change the oil. My friends had them and talked me into it. THANK YOU!!!
great car
great car all around high expectations met with high satisfactions
A fine car
For me, size of car is near perfect- roomy cabin without the bulk of luxury car land yachts. The ride is what I wanted - quiet, smooth, with a solid feel. Although not an excitement machine, power is ample and is delivered velvety smooth. Fit and finish are exemplary, and cabin styling is excellent.
Best car I have ever owned
Smooth, quiet ride. Luxurious comfortable interior. An amazing buy.
Bad Vision
This car has a terrible blind spot on the drivers side rear.
the bomb
I absolutely loved this car.It dove so fast and it was fun and comfortable. And a great price, those car shoppers here's the car you'll be wanting.
As Comfortable as Promised
Comfortable and affordable luxury with a history of low maintainace and high reliablity.
Expectations Met
A new job means a 120-mile daily commute. While a loyal, long term BMW driver, my M3 and Z4 are not really suitable for this kind of motoring so I went in search of a comfortable cruiser. Looked at the new 5-series, Merc C and E class, Audi A6 and more. The ES330 offered an amazing combination of smooth ride, luxury, fuel economy, features, price, size and safety. If you like to 'drive' a car, forget Lexus. I bought the Z4 in favor of the sterile SC430. If you just want to motor in quiet luxury, Lexus probably has your car.
The right choice
Shopped the whole spectrum and came back to Lexus, again. The car exudes their motto "relentless pursuit of perfection", interior is the height of luxury, new 3.3/225hp has the power, exterior is contemporary. What a beautiful car to look at and so smooth and quiet to drive. Top-of-the-line material in every corner. Navigation/ Mark Levinson is the icing on the cake.
"A MUST BUY OR LEASE"
MY THIRD ES SINCE 2002...CAN'T BEAT THE LUXURY 2002,2003,2004...LOVE THEM!
Transmission shifts poorly in ES330
First the good things: This car has a superbly designed interior with real wood accents that is beautiful. It rides very smoothly, and is extremely quiet. The ML stereo and GPS navigation sytsem are incredible. However, this car is spoiled by a poorly shifting transmission. When punching the gas pedal, there's frequently a 1-1.5 second delay before the engine accelerates and the transmission engages. This unpredictability makes the car frustrating to drive in heavy traffic.
