Nice to look at, Horrific to drive
The car drove like a dream for the first 500 miles. I'm at 8,200 and every mile in between has been a nightmare. The transmission slams up and down, causing a terribly uncomfortable ride-and remember it has 8 gears so it is constantly changing gears. In the morning, the transmission has become so rough I feel as though I am being rear ended. I have had it at two different dealerships to solve the issues and both have told me it is normal-and if it something were actually wrong a fault light would illuminate. I was issued a case manager with jeep corporate. She refused to return calls-I went three days calling her three times before she picked up.
What I expected - quality
We just returned from a 2247 mile roundtrip and averaged 26.7 mpg including four days in Denver. Our Overland has just over 3000 miles on it and I fully expect the gas mileage to continue to improve. My wife wanted to wait for the new diesel, but I did not see paying $4500 extra was justified. A cruising range of over 600 miles for a gasoline V6 SUV is exceptional. The Overland comes fully loaded and is by far a much better than the ML320 CDI we previously owned. It is also a much better value than the MB ML. We put on over 500 miles per day to and from Denver and we were very comfortable in the Overland. It is quiet, powerful, comfortable, economical for its size and a joy to drive. We rated the performance a "4" as this is an SUV not a V8 powered car. Update @30,000 miles: Once you have used the shift lever awhile you get used to its positioning. We have had zero issues with the 8-speed automatic. Yes, there has been a software update or two but I respect Jeep for updating its product. We get ALL of our regular service at our local Jeep dealer. They know their products and if there is an update or recall that needs to be applied they do it. One stop shopping. Update @ 44,500 miles. We remain impressed with our Overland. The interior shows little signs of and we expect it to last past 150K. Gas mileage is around 23 mpg average in everyday driving. We still have our local Jeep dealer do all maintenance and now it is easier since they added an express lane. Still the quality vehicle we expected. The tires look like they may last 65-70 thousand miles. When we purchased this Jeep our plan was to keep it 10+ years so we purchased the Lifetime warranty so we would not get any large repair bills in the future. The way things are going, Jeep will make money on the Lifetime warranty. Bravo.

My Laredo E is an excellent vehicle
I am extremely happy with my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo E 4x4. I have had it for 6 months now, about 8,000 miles. I am happy to say that I have experienced none of the engine/electronics/transmission issues that some other reviewers have written about. For me, my JGC has given me the perfect blend of size, performance, and comfort. I am constantly getting compliments on how it looks (inside and outside), as well as how it rides. I average about 20 miles per gallon with about half city, half highway driving. I came from a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe 4x4 (which was another good vehicle, honestly) - but the extra room and power of the JCG makes me happy I "upgraded." * 2 years later and I am as happy with this vehicle as I was when I first bought it. No issues of any kind and the MPG is better than I expected.

What's missing?
Loving our new vehicle but totally misled by dealer around iPhone connectivity. They even programmed all our four iPhones for us before we left the dealer. But, after several reprogramming and calls to the dealer, they told us the car is not compatible with iPhones. Other major deficiency is a back up camera or sensors.
Grand Cherokee Overland 4 x 4
I've had the Overland Grand Cherokee for about a month and have put about 1,200 miles on the car. I'm very happy with the technology in the car, the ride, comfort, and looks. I have read complaints about the transmission lag. I agree there is a bit of a lag but I suspect it has to do with the eco mode. When you put the car in sport mode or take out of the eco mode it gets better. It doesn't really bother me as if I wanted a fast car I would not have bought an SUV. I have also read about problems with the U Connect system as well as the Navigation. I haven't seen any yet and I'm happy with the system. Overall I'm very happy with the Jeep.
