We are starting into year 3 on this car (19000 miles) We have had no issues with the car at all. My wife drives this car most of the time and has had only good things to say about it. The car fits her needs fine. The interior is handsome and has held up. It looks new esp the driver's seat which gets the most use. My wife uses the ECO mode for all her driving while I use the sport mode when I drive it. We have no regrets on buying this car and we will likely look hard at the 2020 or 2021 Sonata because of our experience with this one. This is an 18 month review. This car continues to impress. It has all the whistles and bells and they all perform flawlessly. I am surprised at how many people continue to denigrate Hyundai. As I mentioned initially, this car is my wife’s and she came from years of owning Toyota cars. She was unsure about going to Hyundai but she is now a true believer. It is a solid and enjoyable family sedan. This is the one year update on this car. Other than the few things noted on my 6 month update (no storage area in the back of the driver's seat, no coat hanger on passenger side rear) this car has been great. It will not be mistaken for a luxury vehicle but it is doing a great job of providing safe and comfortable driving. The interior looks brand new, with no signs of wear. I have been happily surprised by this car. If someone is looking for a solid reliable family sedan this must be on list to try. We have had no maintenance issues at all. All of the technology works fine and is easy to learn and use. Road noise continues to be a bit loud but to be honest it may be the tires on the car. Hyundai has done a great job on this car. We have just purchased a new Sonata Limited with Ultimate Package for my wife. This is her first non Toyota car ever, after having 10 Toyotas in the past. We started out looking at the new Camry then the Altima and the Accord. Her first inclination was to go with the Camry but as we talked with the dealer and put together an offer she found several things about it that turned her off. The Hyandai dealer was close at hand so we began to look closely at the Sonata. We were able to put together a deal with a comparably equipped Sonata at thousands less than the Camry. We have just had the car delivered so it will be sometime before I can put together a more comprehensive review. The initial quality and delivery were excellent, but time and miles will tell if it holds up. My wife is not an aggressive driver, nor a car enthusiast, she views cars as merely an appliances. We hope the car provides her with reliability and comfort. Stay tuned for updates/

Has everything that is necessary for safe and comfortable driving. Moved up from a 2009 Sonata with 274,000 miles. Anticipate continued reliability from Hyundai. One of the most commented on items is the amount of leg room in the back seat. Car overall rides very smoothly, with adequate acceleration for normal driving. Gas mileage varies between 31 and 37 in eco mode depending on city or highway driving. A little over whelmed by all the safety features. Two dislikes of the car is the distance it slows down automatically when coming up on a car in front of you. I have set this down considerably, but dislike the feature. This can be turned off. Other problem is difficulty putting in a car seat in the back. If you use a car seat for a child, suggest you check your seat in the car. It takes me 2 to 3 times longer to take it in or out from our old Sonata or our SUV. Other than that, highly recommend the car. Easy to drive, great turning radius and comfortable. Only had it 3 months so cannot comment on reliability yet only have 9,000 miles on it and only service was an oil change at 7,500. Have had the car for 21 months with 50,000 miles. No problems at this point Still rides well, Had to install new tires, change oil etc. just normal maintenance. Do not use all of the features, but that is a choice of mine, not a problem with the vehicle. Enjoy driving it. Has made several long trips. No major problems at 92k. Over the years have wished we had gotten some additional amenities. Gas mileage still between 28 to 34 mpg depending on weather and city or highway driving. At 94,000 miles oil consumption increased dramatically. Eventually reaching 1 quart every thousand miles. After another 15,000 miles dealing with Hyundai and the dealership, they replaced the motor under warranty.

Great Choice!

This is a great car. It's comfortable, responsive and a great value. I previously leased a Sonata which I was pleased with, so purchasing another Sonata when the lease was up was an easy decision. Improvements to the backup safety feature was improved as well as the blind spot warning.

I must start out by saying 5 years ago you would’ve never caught me giving Hyundai a second look. I went just to look at the brand new Kona. Just to look. Wasn’t too impressed with it. So the dealer asked me to drive the sonata. I thought why not. I am so glad I did. I fell in love with this car. The response is unreal for a 2.0 turbo. The handling is amazing. And the amenities are abound. I’m a tall guy. The seats are not as great as my Nissan but it’s still comfortable. Though I have never had cooling seats. Amazing! Only had the car 3 weeks. So I haven’t had to deal with the service yet or winter driving. So I will update that when it comes. But the car so far is amazing. Hyundai, you have made a believer out of me.

My 2018 Sonata SEL the value of the Decad

My 84 year old mother is on her third Hyundai Sonata and just raves about it, so when I decided to replace my Jaguar I thought why not go practical. I purchased a new bright red 2018 Sonata SEL for $18,664 plus fees which was a significant mark down from the $24,990 sticker price. The fit and finish is great, the interior is simple and comfortable. It has all the bells and whistles including Sirius radio, back up camera, heated seats, full power and more. I will definitely buy another, but this may last long as I need. My friend was buying an Acura....and I said, "why?"
