I purchased my sonata in july of 00. I currently have 110,000 miles on the odometer. This has been the most reliable car I have owned to date. I would recommend this model if you are in the market.

Twice is to much

Transmission went at 78,000. The 2nd Hyundai Transmission to go. Have a 96 Accent & also lost a transmission after the 60,000 mile warranty. Just $2000. The last time and especially from this dealer. They could care less about your business. You might as well drive it until it croaks. You could not get a decent trade on a Hyundai if your life depended on it. Most don't even want a used Hyundai on their lot. Give it away or drive it until it drops.

I cannot say enough great things about my 2000 Sonata GLS V6. It has everything you could want in a automobile!! It is extremely comfortable, quiet and fun to drive! I am a true believer in the Hyundai line. I am not the only Hyundai owner in my family. It you have any doubts in the product go test drive one! You will be impressed!

Worth the price

I bought the car @ 64K from my sister, the original owner. I really had no major problems with this car until about 128K, and even in the past 3K miles I've had to replace (the original!) timing belt, serpentine belt, upper ball joint and crankshaft pulley (which I think was mechanics fault) I had several things replaced by the warranty, no problems-the most major one was the alternator. I think that the transmission is starting to go, and the performance has dropped a lot now, but @ 131K for a less expensive sedan, I don't think it's that bad. Up until 125K I absolutely adored this car, worry-free.

The 4 Cyl. needed smoother shifting.

I find that my Sonata doesn't shift smoothly between gears. The car is a great value in general. I have 58000 mi. on mine and it's still going strong. The Silver color paint is peeling, which isn't too great, and I garage it every night and use it just for pleasure.
