We bought our 06 one owner Azera for my daughter. It had 93K miles but was well cared for. We have had the car for a year and the engine and interior are top notch. Highway mileage is 27 but in the city it is abysmal. The rear sunshade is a gimic and trouble prone. The car is solid and is a good value used as Hyundai's still don't hold their value as well as the Japanese cars but in my opinion are similar in quality.

Exactly what a car should be

You really need to drive one the 2006-2011 Azeras. The ride is unbelievably perfectly balanced for people who realize they won't be taking corners at 100+mph and no car can make a 10inch deep pothole disappear. If you want a car with good speed, but no drama getting there....this is the car. The ride feel like smooth and quiet, yet alive enough to let you know what the road is like underneath you (my guess is the complaints about ride comfort come from people used to buick marshmallows). We've had this beauty for almost a decade and had absolutely zero issues. Kept her outside in snowy, salty climate and no rust anywhere. None of the drivers in our house have led-foot-itis so we can attest to 20mpg "suburb" being the norm (I did notice a drop down to 19mpg the week I needed to go in to the city for jury duty). Seriously, this car is perfect. It has superb visibility, go ahead and compare it to one of those dreadful new cars with window sills nearly at shoulder height. We drove this car through ice storms and blizzards with no problems (as long as you keep traction control OFF). I am completely in love with this car. So bright and cheerful and I swear it just loves to be driven. We got the base model with the rather unusual upholstery, but good lord this stuff is comfortable. It never heats up in the summer nor does it ever feel frigid in the winter, to heck with leather.... I've actually grown to love just sitting in the passenger seat while the others shop. (The great sound system compliments the relaxing seats very well too) Oh yeah, the usable cargospace is unsurpassed....thrift stores and consignment furniture shops have been our favorite places since getting this car. How Hyundai did this car for the pricepoint is unimaginable, it completely destroys Avalons/Accords/Fusions/Impalas/MKS...and even my 5-series. You have to love this car.

I have read the reviews about the fuel mileage and don't seem to be getting the mileage in the 20's like people are reporting. In town I am getting 12 mpg I don't have a lead foot and don't do a lot of highway driving. Does anyone have suggestions as to what I can do to get better fuel mileage? Any idea as to what this "download" is that is mentioned in the review?

Wow!! If you failed to note the nameplate on the decklid, you might mistake the sumptuous interior for a Lexus or the Cadillac DTS - except that unlike the DTS the Azera uses better materials, has a 5 spd auto, instead of the antique 4 spd, and has folding rear seats ( a must have for us ). The 24 valve V6 outguns the DTS v8, too - in acceleration and top end and gets better MPG on reg. gas. Ride is buttersmooth, it handles well, and is whisper quiet. The Azera would ba a bargain at up to $10K more, and the warranty seals the deal. It gets 29-30 MPG at a steady 70MPH ( 22-23 in mixed driving ) in a Michigan December. This car is absolutely awesome!!!!

I left my Lexus is250 to my mom when i moved and she got me an azera. At first it was a bit of a downer. However this car is a much better fit now that im a father. Great family car and preformance is awesome. I understand the complaint about ride comfort. Get different tires. Thats all. Sumitomo HTR Z III are cheap and amazing tires. you can get them for under 500 bucks for all 4. The Azera is my favorite car overall.

This one of the best cars that I have ever owned. In my lifetime I have had 15 cars, 2 used and 13 new. This car without a doubt has been exceptional. It is going to be 10 years old soon and other that brakes, tires and batteries, nothing else has had to be replaced. The leather interior looks as good as the day one, along with the body and paint. I haven't even had to change a light bulb. It is a great car!!!!

As an 87 year old I have purchased 21 new cars in my lifetime, all made in the USA. I can honestly say my new Azera is far and away the finest car I have ever owned and it was $15,000 less than the sticker price of my last Cadillac DeVille.

Just purchased this Azera! Wow, my wife had a Lexus, I had an Acura, and believe me, they don't even touch this car when it compares to the ride, handling, quietness and fun to drive!! I initially purchased this for me to drive, but my wife fell in love with it! Can't say enough good things about this car. Got the cloth seats which are very upscale, didn't want leather because too hot in the summer.

Read all the reviews before buying it. could not get more than 14MPG, under any circumstances, hated that the key fob kept hitting the plastic dash and absolutely hated the ride. I was told to wait till I drove it a while before I can expect better gas mileage. At my first oil change, a young mechanic reinstalled the software that runs the engine and I immediately obtained 17.8 MPG around town and 27 MPG on the highway. I installed a plastic change purse over the key fob to silence the key chain. It worked. I stopped by another dealer to complain about the ride. He installed new shocks on the front and it now rides almost acceptably. I only have 8000 miles on it.

I've had Lexus ES330, Audi A4, and Avalon. Azera is definately better than them for a lot cheaper price. I highly recommend this car for anyone who wants to drive a luxury car but a little short in budget. If you test- drive this car, you will know what I really mean. I have no doubt that Hyundai will surpass Toyota or Honda in the near future because Hyundai are making better quality cars at a lower price. Thanks Hyundai!!!!

I had to replace my 97 Camry. Owning all kinds of cars in the past (Lexus- Benz-Honda-Audi) this one made sense. Things I love: safety features (airbags all around, stability and traction control + the usual - ABS etc.), power (250 hp), transmission (smooth, gear stays on until red zone if you hit it), comfort (seats, rear A/C - heat fan, illuminated power switches, auto up/down window for driver & pass), optional features (front & REAR reading lights, huge trunk, good stereo), and highway gas mileage (28). Major gripe: If you want a sporty car this is not it. On straight road it is great. BUT smooshy on curves (just like a Buick). Minor stuff: City MPG could be better. Buy used not new.

I absolutly love my Azera. The performance is unmatched in its class. I haven't had any issues with anything. I've not experienced the problems others are mentioning about how it handles bumps. The luxury interior is unmatched for its class also. I would recommend this car to everyone. Just go drive one and you will be a believer also. Here i am on Sept. 30, 19 just to say i still feel the same. i am still driving this car 120 miles a day, 5 days a week and even more than that per day on the weekend. I have had absolutely no problems out of this car up to now. I still love it and feel its still an awesome car. I hate that they stopped producing this car. i would've been a lifetime supporter of the Azera! Thanks for Reading my Review

I have not been disappointed in any way since purchasing the car (a Limited with the Ultimate Package) ten months ago. The build quality was noticably higher than any American-made car I have ever owned and the feeling of solidity and the quiet ride are still very much in evidence. Routine maintenence has been all that has been required. Small wonder the Azera made it to Edmunds' "Most Wanted" list for 2007. Both my wife and I feel this car handles, looks, and rides like a car costing many thousands of dollars more and intend to drive our black over gray Azera well past the 100,000 mile mark.

The azera really accelerates, and the shifts are seamless. This car has all the bells and whistles. It is extremely quiet at 75 mph. The outside paint finish is flawless. The seats are very comfortable, and the leather is of high quality. When going through turns, it really hunkers down and grabs the pavement, it feels like you are glued to the road. This car has great brakes with little pedal fade. The motor is so quiet that you have to listen really hard when you start it, to hear if it is running. The combination of headlights and driving lights really light up the road ahead. There has not been any warranty items that I have had to have the Dealer correct, this being a first for me.

I have owned my car for 3 1/2 years. Got a great price. At 55,000 miles, I still have 5,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty. Thus far, all I have needed done is my lumbar support on the driver side. When I get into my car I still feel like its a fun, luxurious drive. My family, including my father, has had five Hyundais (2 Accents, 1 Elantra, 1 Sonata, and 1 Azera) since 2003. No regrets.

I have owned the car eright at a year and I have enjoyed driving it. For the price this is a great car. The harshness in how it takes bumps is my only complaint. I had Nitrogen put in my tires and the ride improved a lot. I really enjoy driving it and for the money you can't buy this kind of luxury.

After shopping '06 Volvo S40 and Toyota Camary/Avalon, my wife & I decided to view the Azera. We stopped at the dealer for a brochure & ended up testing one. By the end of the day we had traded in my wife's 2000 Sonata for the Azera. It has more horsepower than the S40 & Camary (as much as the Avalon) and more iterior/storage space than all three. With these features, the Azera was still $2K-$3K cheaper than the S40 & Avalon. Once we upgraded the bumper- to-bumper warranty to 10yr/100K mi, the others can't come close. These facts made choosing the Azera very easy. We look forward to driving the car for a long time. True, its not a sports sedan but we'll trade that for all we got! C 4 urslf!

Great Cheap First Car

My girlfriend and I bought this car used with 141k on the odm back in September 2020. It was our first car. Thankfully we bought the car just before the chip shortage affected the used car prices and we snagged it for $3k. The used car salesman was actually very honest and straightforward, and he even offered and performed free maintenance on a few problems the car had from the get-go (who does that???). Speaking of which, the car from the get-go did not have a working parking brake, and the problem was not permanently fixable for any reasonable price, so every inspection we had to have a “temporary fix”. Other problems the car had the whole time we had it were driver’s side AC that didn’t work, as well as a persistent smell of gasoline, for which the source could never be found. The smell also made our dog get carsick on long trips. Despite those issues though, there were a lot of fond memories with the car, and a lot of plus sides too that impressed me. For starters, the V6 made the car feel like a speed demon (not super fuel efficient but not as bad on gas as some of the other reviews suggest). Another underrated feature was the full-size spare tire and tire-changing kit, which actually came in VERY handy for us once. The car was also very quiet and smooth, and though it wasn’t sporty, it handled corners better than almost any brand new SUV does. The car was also super spacious in the front seats, the backseat, and in the trunk. Sadly, after a year and a half and 20k additional miles the car was totaled in a slip-and-slide accident. We miss the car dearly, and all the memories that came with it.

At nearly 50,000 miles, I can give a fair evaluation. My Azera has snappy acceleration that requires you to pay attention. The pro review that said they got 17.7 mpg is way off base. He must have done his review driving around in 3rd gear. I get 26 to 28 mpg combined mileage, about half city and highway. I am an All-American, but I love just about everything about this car. Easy on tires? I am just about to buy the first set of replacement tires, going to get 235's this time; it will be even better. This car will not disappoint someone who wants a very smooth ride. It's quick, very comfortable with a big trunk for all my things, and a ton of very usable features...Ed

I just picked up the Azera. I'm selling my 06 Sonata LX. Another Great Car. The commercials and pricing on the Azera made me jump. The car drives like a BMW/Lexus/Mercedes. Great power, ESC, TC and all the other options are great. I drove the other day through 15 types of rain in an hour, the auto wipers adjusted PERFECTLY everytime. The car feels like it can take turns even better than my Sonata, and I thought that was great. This is a $40,000 car, without a doubt. Luckily we are on the cusp of Hyundai regaining Market share after previous years of producing crappy cars. Buy now, the prices WILL go up, the car is simply outstanding.

This was my first car that I got for my 15th birthday. It is a great car. I see lots of reviews mentioning the harshness of bumps. Honestly, I don't see the problem. It rides so smoothly. The interior is amazing. Very classy steering wheel, plus very comfortable on the hands. It's got a list of very cool features. The steering wheel leans back when the car is turned off as if to get out of the driver's way. Heated seats, electrically powered seat adjusting, sun roof, etc. There is even a mile counter counting down to an empty gas tank. Speaking of gas, this must be the only feature less than excellent. The gas mileage could be slightly better. All in all, it's a really great car!

I bought the Azera as a less expensive alternative to an Avalon. I have had a disappointing (bad) experience with Hyundai National after problems with air bag. A local repair successfully fixed the problem after dealer missed the problem repeatedly. The Seat belt pre tensioners have been a problem possibly exacerbated by my purchase of used replacements. The rear power sunscreen failed at about 200K and replacing it is exorbitant. It handles very well and the fine touches are well executed. I am looking for another Azera.

The headlights have a very dark line and I think very limited range on the headlights. I noticed this when I test drove the vehicle. The dealership raised the headlights to what they said was the proper level. After purchasing the car I noticed that the lights were set too high and people were flashing the high beams at me. I had an independen garage check the the lights and they had been set too high. In other words, I was mislead. In addition, the car doors do not lock automatically. This was something I didn't notice in the test drives. Even the cheapest cars have this feature for security. I also find it annoying that you cannot charge a cell phone without the engine running

The new Azera is a real performer. I came from an XG300L (which was stolen or I would still have it), to the Azera which is a better road car and much more responsive to the throttle & less "float" at high way speeds. The one sour note to an otherwise fine new model is the atrocious gas milage. I'm told by Hyundai, it should improve with additional milage. That said, I really think Hyundai has a new winner.(would appreciate input on others milage)

I have driven this car for about 14 months now and have no complaints or gripes. and it is $4000.00 cheaper than it's nearest competitor. I test drove all the vehicles in it's class, domestic and foreign, and found nothing better in that price range. In the categories listed above. I was a local car salesman so I have driven a lot of cars from Maserati's to Yugo's and I love this car. I have gotten out of a lot of tight scrapes and dangerous driving situations with this car,It saved my life in handling. This car does what Hyundai says it would. The advertisements don't lie. hmmm! a auto dealer than doesn't lie, a car commercial that tells the truth, amazing. Rick and Werner Eden

I inherited a black Azera Ltd from my mom. She asked me about Hyundai before she bought this & I told her that I'd rented a Sonata & thought it was a great value. This Azera easily surpasses the Toyota Avolon that I test-drove. The fit and finish is comparable to my partner's Mercedes and Lexus. Some early reviews complained about uneven gaps in the dash, hood, etc. I compared mine and they're all within 1/16th of an inch, which I consider excellent. My only complaints are; why only a single-disc CD player and why no plug for an MP3 player (it only accepts MP3 discs)? Oh, also, the manual shift will not allow you to hold it in gear to the redline, shifting early at about 6500 rpm.

There were two models available and we got the one with the V6 3.8 engine (the cheaper model had a different motor -- the overview doesn't mention that so maybe a Canadian option) and all the bells and whistles. The ONLY vehicle that comes close is the Passat and we leave it behind on hills. The passing performance is simply spectacular which we need because we pass a lot of big trucks on icy roads. Fabulous car. More for comfort than performance? I think not.

Without a doubt Hyundai is Number 1

Country and rough roads were no match for the suspension in my Azera. This car straightened out the curves and leveled the dips on the old country roads. On the highway or state roads I had plenty of passing power.Interior is georgeous with plenty of room. The leather seats were full size with plenty of support and adjustments to please almost anyone.Fit and finish on this Azera was top-notch.Radio and heater controls very easy to use,the size of the buttons and control knobs were designed to fit the average size hand of a male owner. Plastic material in the interior felt like it belonged in a vehicle costing far more than the Azera.Looking forward to having this Azera for a long long time.

Very satisfied. I got the light tan interior. Floor mats are too light colored & get dirty very easily. The mats are low quality Carpet. The mileage estimates are disappointing.I drive mostly in city & only get 12.8 MPG> (Very Disappointing from what they advertised ???.It's an excellent car, for the money.Hyundai's warranty is great & my wife has an Elantra which we are very happy with.

I was impressed with the presentation, comfort, and features of this car. Initially considered because of its extreme quality rating, I liked the drive as well. One problem is the hesitation of the accelerator. The dealer indicated it cannot be fixed and it is a computer problem, but I find it hard to deal with rush hour traffic. The hesitation makes reacting a hazard. Also had a problem with the rebate check that took 5 weeks to show up. Otherwise, the car is loaded with great features.

Hyundai will be a major powerhouse in the US. No one can come close to their warranty and will attract many to this luxurious sedan. This is a taste of what to expect from Hyundai will be showing to the American market. They will be debuting a luxury brand to compete with Toyota. The Equus (which is the top-of-the-line in Korea) will coming here soon and many people it's better than a LS400...the redesign of that car will be coming soon. This will definitely get your moneys worth. You will be impressed like I did.

I have always purchased Lincolns since 1992. Decided to try an smaller car this year. Tried the Azera and saw it had all the "bells and whistles" that the Lincolns had, handled well and suited me just fine.

Hyundai Got it Right

Do a lot of highway driving in my job. Had 2004 Acura TL which was a nice car but needed to get it replaced. Wanted sedan with good build quality and driving performance, but also good warrenty coverage. Purchased a Hyundai Azera Limited with Ultimate package and could not be more pleased. Intial quality was excellent and better than my experience with my old Acura and it handles great on the highway. I have no problem passing slower traffic since the engine has more get up and go than my old car. So far, an excellent buy.

Was set to buy an Avalon and was just browsing through the Hyundai parking lot when I ran across a gentleman driving a Lexus whose brother had just bought an Azera. Both men felt the Azera was just as nice as the Lexus but thousands cheaper. So I decided to drive one before finalizing my Avalon purchase. I am so glad I did. I have had my car a month now and love it. It rides so smooth. It is the most comfortable car I have ever had. The trunk is very spacious, fold down seats (which the Avalon does not have) come in handy. This is the first car I have bought in 26 years that is not a Honda or Toyota so it was quite a leap for me to buy a Hyundai. Time will tell regarding reliability.

I drive a lot, and at 6,4" it fits me great. I appreciate the power, standard features, and quality of the bodywork and paint. I'm going to keep it until it falls apart, then get another one. After having a Toyota Avalon, and comparing both, I went with the azera. Dealer has been great.

I can't count the number of time I'm asked about the Azera Limited by strangers. In parking lots, gas stations stop signs just everywhere. The last one was at a gas station. The guy even asked to sit it in. Beautiful was his comment! Couldn't believe it was 2 years old. Loved the whole car and was going to visit a dealer soon. I love the features inside, attention to detail is equal to those other high-end cars. Power when you need to pass. My son played with the auto shift. Cool he said! Nice wide stance, if looking for a sporty ride not this car, it's a comfort car. Keep it maintained properly and it will go way beyond 10 yrs/100,000 miles.

Like other reviewers have said, all I ever hear from the service dept. is "that is normal". The transmission in this car is terrible. It never knows what gear to be in. It has slipped on many occasions especially after getting off a highway onto city streets. The service dept. even told me that if my wife drives different than me than the car will not learn how to shift properly!! Who would make a car like that? My wife will not even drive it any more, she hates the transmission that much. Too bad because most everything else is good. Getting rid of it soon.

Very comfortable car with excellent vision and fantastic price & value. I average 18.5 MPH. I have experienced an oil leak and starter motor problems at 5000 miles. The dealship service has been excellent but did not expect these problems given the rave reviews by other owners.

Bought my new 2006 Azera Limited several months ago. So far, build quality appears to be excellent. No major or minor quirks of any type. The 262-hp engine is fast, but with slight lag when hitting accelerator.

We have had our 2006 Azera from nearly new (3500) miles when we bought it. Overall it has been a great car, for the price at the time purchased it was a bargain with luxury that surprised us. The fuel economy has been fair to good, the ride and comfort good. I would like to compare a 2016-17 Azera to see what if any improvements have been made. I have heard the the dealership the Azeri is to be discontinued/phased out.
