Used 2005 Honda Pilot Consumer Reviews
Very good but not perfect.
Primarily bought the Pilot because of top ratings and I was tired of Minivans and their poor resale value. Had for 7 months and 7,xxx miles. Ride, comfort (we do not regularly use the 3rd row), performance combined are top notch. Felt I negotiated a very good deal at year's end - the whole "late in the month and late in the year" discounts and the fact that the dealership was trying to make the "President's Award" with sales volume helped. Performs well on regular gas, better on premium. This is a heavy (but nimble) SUV. The mileage numbers on your window sticker may appear larger that your actual mileage. Maybe it's not broken in?
Very safe suv!!!
Our Honda Pilot saved my wifes life, she recently had a VERY serious freeway crash (hit center devider wall head-on at 65 mph.) and walked away with only a sprained wrist!!! The airbags worked perfectly and the front end crush zone took most of the impact. Our Pilot was a total loss and we will be getting a 2005 soon. We love this SUV!!!

Great Start
I have only had the vehicle for less than two months. So far I have had no problems. I traded in my old Jeep Grand Cherokee for the Pilot. In terms of ride, handling, & interior design the Pilot is superior to my old Jeep (which I really enjoyed). The Pilot seats are more comfortable than the Jeep seats, though the Jeep seats were excellent for long trips & I have to not yet had the Pilot on an extended trek to make that level of comparison. I have yet to experience snow or more than very light off-road conditions so I can't compare performance in tough going as of yet.
a very balanced SUV
Suspension is tighter than TrailBlazer and Ford 150 and also less body roll, which make it quite accord like and easier to drive than my old acord. 3rd row seats are not bad at all for asians. But, there is not much space left when all up. Low-end performance could be improved, but highway passing is a breeze. The auto5 trans responds quickly for normal driving. It shifts between 5k-6k rpm if you floor it. It's not as quiet as camery and there is a lot of wind noise at 80+ mph. But, that is the same with TrailBlazer. F150 is quieter though. My pilot had a "winnnnn..." sound at 60-70mph at the neginning, which went away after breaking-in at 1K miles.
What a ride!
The Honda pilot was a car i had set my eyes on getting ever since I first saw it come up. It is a fun car to drive and with the comfort and luxury i was looking for it was the only choice! no other car in its class comes close to what the pilot has to offer. Great Gas mileage and excellent handling. Since this is an expensive vehicle you can be sure that your dealership people will treat you very well. The number of accessories means i will never be finished upgradeing my car. I love my pilot!
