Where to start?!?!?! I had this vehicle in the dealership service center 6 documented times. The first time was after only having it for 2 weeks. The entertainment system was a MAJOR problem and it was almost from the drive home. My vehicle was the one they used to figure out what was wrong with many others. I also had problems with the remote start system. The first time was on Thanksgiving Eve in 2019. It wouldn't start, heck it wouldn't even turn over, and had to have it towed to the dealership. Thank God they were able to get me a rental vehicle or I would have had to pay for an Uber and/or taxi for a 20+ mile ride home. It happened again on Christmas Eve and wouldn't start again. I had to have the tow truck yank it on to the flat bed because it wouldn't even shift out of park. The dealership I dealt with did make it right and I ended up getting a 2021 Honda Passport Elite AWD in the exact same spec as the first one. The only problem I have had with the new one is a mirror intermittently not retracting when using the button on the dash. I have made sure to have it documented with the dealership and checked each time I go in for any service work.

Poor reliability

I bought a brand new 2019 Honda passport Touring which is the highest trim available in Canada. It is very feature rich, interior and exterior look great. Interior materials are better than what I had expected. Handling is good. Power is very average and can be improved. Transmission is OK but hesitates a bit. Honda quality control is very poor. After driving the car for 2 years / 40000 KM it died in the middle of the road. Lucky I didn't get to an accident. Towed the car to Honda dealership. They had to replace fuel pump and fuel injector. Car was sitting in the dealership for almost a month because Honda didn't had the parts!!!!! After a month I get the car back and see a chunk of my front tire is ripped out. Not sure if it happened when Honda was towing my car or if it happened in the dealership. Since the repair the engine is acting a bit different. When I press the gas pedal there is delay before the engine kicks in. Kind of like how a turbocharged engine behaves. Not sure why changing fuel pump and injector would cause this delay. It is annoying and also I am worried it will cause a problem in long term since after a delay the car suddenly kicks harshly to deliver the power. Once had to replace the front windshield and the Honda part that was installed was defective and had to go back to the dealership to change the windshield again. The defect was very visible and it is concerning that Honda quality control process did not catch it. My extended family were all Honda fans and one by one they are leaving Honda. This was the third Honda I bought brand new but it will be the last one. If I am not getting a quality car with Honda then I might as well go for a performance or luxury car instead.

The Passport is a functional, capable vehicle that delivers solid limited off-road, excellent handling in snow, superb transport capacity, and comfortable long-range driving experience.
