Used 2002 Honda Civic Consumer Reviews
Do your homework and form your own opini
upfront this may not be the cheapest car to buy, however down the road it will retain more of its value then any other car in its class and it will give you the least amount of repair headaches.
Great value, fun car
My wife and I were looking for a new car, but I'm not partial to investments that lost 25% of their value in the first 10 minutes you own them, so we went with pre-owned. The 2002 Civc is a great car. Fun, stylish, and sexy to drive, it's as reliable as it can be -- no problems yet -- and it's quite affordable, too. If you're like us, and you want a reliable, affordable car that can comfortably seat 4 or 5 and is fun on the road, look for a Civic.

Be careful what you wish for
I sold my Accord in 2002 and got the new Civic. I wanted an economical and reliable commuting car for less money than another Accord. The Civic deliveres on that, but the comfort of my 1-hr (2x daily) commute has suffered a great deal. Within 1st 6 mos of ownership, the annoying sqeaks in the dash, doors and pillars started to creep up. Now they are a daily occurance. I tried everything, but they keep coming back. Too much road noise in the cabin makes the already- weak audio system even less enjoyable. Seats are not supportive for long commutes. I would rather own a solid and comfortable sedan with worse gas mileage.
Solid as Usual
The 2002 Ex replaces my 96 Accord LX which I racked up 120,000 miles on in 5 years. It is just a comfortable with better fuel milage. The engine revs high, but for the price it can not be beat. I am very happy with it. It is by far the best bang for the buck out there! You can get more, but you must pay a lot more.
I love my new Honda
I have driven many cars in my lifetime and decided on the Honda Civic because it has always had excellent consumer reviews. It handles the road well for its size and with skyrocketing prices in gas I was pleased to pay $13.00 to fill it up and found that during the breakin period it is still getting 31 mpg in combination city/highway driving. A very big difference from our Van and a real pleasure to drive.
Some thoughts....
The Civic is of course a very popular car. We see them on the road all the time. There is a reason for this. They are just good cars that do everything pretty well. Are there similar priced cars with more horsepower? Yes. Are there similar priced cars with rear disc brakes??? Sure. But I find that this car is as close as a economy car gets to not really feeling like an economy car. With a manual trans you can work the engine a bit which like most hondas is weak on the low end but better in the higher revs. Suits my style of driving fine which is a bit more spirited than average. Was mad about the crap Firestones that were OE but changed them to Bf Goodrich Traction TAs - big improvement!
my baby
Almost at the 200K mark with routine maintenance. I love my car. With studded tires I can zip around with no problems whatsoever in the winter. Reliability is of paramount importance to me and I'll be keeping her until she blows up on the side of the road. Hell, we all gotta go sometime...

Good value
unacceptable suspension, especially the rear one. Not so comfortable front seats. Too tall. Looks unbalanced. In term of value, few challengers could come close. But you give up quite a lot of comfort for this value.
What's not to love?
I love my Civic. It gets great mileage, looks nice and clean, and runs great. Steering is crisp, acceleration is adequate, but could use a little more power, and the inside is just wonderful. Considering the car's price, I feel I got a lot for the money, and that it will last a long time. Very pleased.
Good Car - Not Perfect
Drive train and suspension are rock solid after 135K miles. Great gas mileage. Would buy another, but can't say the car is total nirvana. Had little things go wrong, fuel sender and interior light switch malfunctions at 40K and more usual stuff fail later on, but overall a decent little car.
