Used 2002 Honda Civic Consumer Reviews
LX to EX
Great Car! I bought mine 3 days ago. After driving a 98 LX for a year, I finally decided to upgrade to a 2002 EX. I immediately noticed a major difference in performance, handling and interior/exterior styling and detail. 200 miles and not a single problem yet. Its a HONDA so I shouldn't be surprised, or expecting any soon. I absolutely love my civic!

Wouldn't buy again
Needed new struts at the first oil change. Needed new tires and alignment also (though I drive 12 miles daily on a highway with no potholes). The radio stinks. There are cubbyholes and compartments, which would be great, but the hinges are breaking (after opening about four or five times).
Unhappy Honda Owner
Bought this car with dealer added options paying 5,000 over sticker. Bad decision! Not only does this Civic NOT have the comfort as my old 2000 Civic, it has depreciated faster. The same dealer will only give me 10,5000 for a car that list for 17k new, not to mention the add ons they don't give credit for, where the sticker on the old Civic was also 17k and two years later was worth 11,500.00 trade in and 13.5k-14.5k retail. 2002 Civic is uncomfortable for long rides, feel every bump in the road, doesn't feel as tight driving as the old Civic model, just has not been a good experience other than good gas mileage and Honda's usual mechanical reliability.
Great Car
I've had my 2002 Civic for 3,000 miles and absolutely love it. I went from a '96 minivan to this and wow what a difference. Obvious improvements in gas mileage and reliability; I don't why I stuck with the van for so long. 5 speed's got plenty of kick. A little problem with misc. rattles on right door and windshield visor. Plenty of room for transportation in back seat and a surprisingly large trunk.

I got a civic because my previous car was an unrestored 64 ford mustang (that needed a lot of work) and I just wanted a car I didnt have to worry if it was going to overheat or use a tank a day. I go out of town often with my civic and even with 60000 it still gets almost 400 miles to the tank.
I love my honda civic, but
I love my honda civic, but Since I bought it new in 2002 i have haad a few problems with it. At my 15000 miles check they had to change the strut. At 29000 they had to put in a new altinator. My defogger does not work well and who knows what else will begin to happen after the warranty runs out in a few months I have 33000 miles on it so 3000 to go I hope it last nice car but not as well built as I thought
great on gas.........will save you money
great car............will same you money on gas
Suspension ON my 02 Civic LX
Within 5 months of buying my Civic I had to have both front struts replaced. I love my Civic but I hate the suspension. I have had my car in the shop at least 10 times in 2 years for the suspension! I love the look and the drive of the car! They could offer more color choices! It gets great gas mileage! Other tahn the suspension I have no problems with the car! Thay are great little cars!
Great car
I bought this car new 1/2002. It has been the best i have ever owned. Great performance even though only 115hp. Good in all weather and rarely gave me any issues. Recently traded it in at 175k miles as the A/C went and i didnt want to pay to fix it though it would have went for another 100k miles. Great MPG and reliability. Traded it in for a BMW 328i which is what i always wanted but i felt so bad trading it in.
