Genesis should be ashamed
Over the last 12 months my GV80 has been in the dealership for repair now for the 4th time and 5 months and counting. There are severe computer/electrical/engine problems - actually nobody knows what the problem is - they just keep replacing parts. The first time all the warning lights for EVERYTHING just started going off and the dash would go black. After 2 repair tries and 12 weeks in the dealership they replaced the cluster (resetting mileage to zero). The car then seemed fine for a few months and then it started again. This time the warning lights went crazy again, but also the car started bucking and shutting down randomly while driving. Back to the dealership for another 7 weeks. That resulted in a replaced actuator. It ran fine for 2 more months, then the warning lights started going crazy again and the engine light is on. It is back at the dealership again for who knows how long. They clearly have no idea how to fix it. Genesis Canada will do nothing about it except to say they are working hard to fix it. I think it is clear they can’t fix it. As there are no lemon laws in Canada, they just completely disregard the responsibility that they should have for the customer. To trade it in will result in a huge loss to me due to all the issues, as well as passing the buck to a new unsuspecting buyer. Genesis needs to stand by their product but clearly they do not care.
excellent car - luxury, handling, quality
Test drove Audi Q8 and BMW. Fairly comparable. Luxury bells and whistles within Genesis far outweigh the other 2 competitors. Also, $10-$25K cheaper with more options was a deal breaker for me. I consistently get 22mpg even with city driving (I drive in eco mode) so not bad at all. Highly recommend! Can't beat the warranty also

Technology system has been inoperable for a month
My connected service has been updating and inoperable for over a month. I have contacted customer service on numerous occasions, and also took it to the dealership for repair, and no one can fix it. My valet parking, location finder, red light camera alert, automatic rear door opener, navigation system, road side assistance, everything affiliated with connected services isn’t working and Genesis don’t know how to correct the issue. I am so exhausted fighting with them. The problem has been escalated to the engineer department but no one can figure out what’s wrong. A $70,000 SUV and the manufacturer doesn’t know what they are doing. I’m disgusted.

Tech stinks
For over a week I have a display that is constantly updating…I’ve called tech support everyday and they always assure me their “engineers” are working on a solution but nothing gets fix. I have no radio, no navigation, no Bluetooth, no media, no cameras…and I bought this vehicle 4 months ago. I’d think they’d want to make it right but so far it’s been very disappointing!

You're paying $20K for stuff that doesn't work....
And they are not going to fix it. Full disclosure, they are buying mine back. Dealer support is very poor. Right on the web page Genesis says they offer free valet service and loaners for all services for 3 years. Out of the 5 dealers within 45 miles of me only one backs that up. Well, you paid for that. Don't kid yourself. The dealer that backed it up had my car for 25 days to replace 2 tires and that was with Genesis involvement. The closest dealer made an appointment for me 30 days out and then called the day before to cancel and reschedule for....another 30 days out. When they did that again, I gave up on them and called Genesis. The car, as a whole, drives really nice. It's quiet, peppy, handles nice, but a bunch of the features do not work. One of the most aggravating is the Intelligent Cruise Control. I can be driving along at 70 mph with it set to a maximum of 73 and there will be no cars around and it will accelerate way past 73 MPH. Inversely it will brake hard for no reason. Very dangerous on a busy high speed highway. Do they know about it. Yes. Will they do anything about it. Not until enough of us are killed or injured. A lot of the little features are intermittent. I can be sitting at an intersection with no other cars around and the warnings will start beeping that there is a person or car next to me. There isn't. The Infotainment system works when it feels like it and the USB music player only worked for the first month I had it. Right up until the first over the air update and that killed it. Will Genesis do anything about it. Nope. Over the air updates get stuck and the car had to go to the dealership to fix that and now I see they are going to start charging for the OTA updates. $25/year for updates that don't work. Lovely. The latest one was supposed to install GenesisPay. Didn't work. They fixed part of it, but it still doesn't work. All of this is really too bad. As I said, I like the car. I just can't stand the lack of quality in the programming and the dealership service. My advice is find another car. After 10 months, I'm doing just that.

Poor Electrics and Dealer Service
GV 80 2022. Purchased in Lubbock Texas used on in February 2023. Car had electrical problems. Traded and upgraded to Advanced Premier in March of 2023. Bought from same dealer. Car had constant electrical problems. Midland Texas is 305 miles from El Paso and 270 miles from Weatherford. Only dealers and Weatherford dealer is as helpful as having the covid with no doctor. Buy one of these.....good luck. Navigation system, interior lighting, sunroof problems and back window even exploded outward in July heat with front windows down. These are a NIGHTMARE,

Give the GV80 a look and then walk away
Stay away from the matte finishes,.,. all you can do is wash to car and quick dry otherwise water spots that you can rub out..No touching up paint spots and absolutely no polishing..I had a stone that cracked ahead light ant to replace ..if Genesis can get the part..they quoted approximately $2200.00.. Beautiful car,BUT get ready to be dissapointed!~!
Parts for GV80
My 2023 Genesis GV80 SUV was rear ended in December of 2023. Unfortunately, my car is still sitting in Gerber Collision and Auto glass repair shop as of today March 22, 2024. We get updates every Tuesday and Thursday of the week that the parts are not back yet. Had I have known this would before I purchased this car I would’ve never brought it. This has definitely been an inconvenience for me and my family. Great car, poor customer service.

Pampered & Spoiled with an Interior Second to None
I've owned many expensive cars - some considerably more expensive that the GV80 Prestige. However, the Genesis hits a new bar in terms of luxury. My biggest complaint is that the car feels a little floaty around turns and doesn't absorb feedback from the potholes. Otherwise, it's a wonderful SUV.

The GV 80 handles like dream. It drives better than any SUV I’ve driven. Rides good, and very quiet.

Overall an excellent SUV
No car is perfect and although this car hits most of the marks. The luxury design, tech, and feel help to make up for the crappy gas mileage. Not a family car, but great for 4 people. My 21' Prestige has 43k miles as I write this, runs well, and has it's quirks. On my 2nd set of tires, 3rd set of front brake pads, and 2nd set of rear shocks, but I frequently tow a small trailer.

GV80 22inch wheels
Love the car but mine came with 22 inch wheels and a blow up system instead of run flats or a spare. As I have found out, the 22 inch wheels blow much easier than smaller ones and the blow up system does not work. This leaves you with a 70k car with no spare or option other than to be towed. I have contacted genesis about this and they are not really helpful at all. This is very dangerous. If I knew I would need to buy a tire and put it in my trunk I would have paid much less money for the GV70.

Long term rental review
Initially, I was super excited to get this as a rental as I’ve been driving, electric and hydrogen for the last couple years and wanted to go back to an SUV for my grandkids. So after my accident, they gave me a 2.5 T all wheel drive as a rental and I thought, OK this is great because I love the Hyundai brand and so maybe I will buy one of these. Positive things… The car is super comfortable! And it’s great for carrying stuff around and for loading kids in the car. The bad? The four-cylinder turbo in this car is absolutely horrible. The grown, the noisy acceleration, and. Feels super underpowered. After a few days, I realized oh my God this is the same engine that I had in my Santa Fe calligraphy that I had a couple years back. So why would you spend the extra $15-$20,000 to get the same leather, same engine etc? The navigation system is horrible, and the voice recognition is beyond worthless. My biggest issue was the safety systems which are so overly sensitive that twice. It has put me in a dangerous situation where I was trying to accelerate into traffic and the safety systems misread something that was going on, and actually just stopped me dead in my tracks as I was pulling into traffic and almost caused me twice to get hit! Definitely not worth the extra money.

Don’t buy into online hype of value for money
We bought 2.5T with prestige package and were told that tech features and safety features are same across the board. This is all a lie. Genesis is cutting corners with their newer builds. They removed HDA 2 and downgraded to HDA 1 in newer models. The reason why people buy newer models is because they are superior in tech but no, not with genesis. Genesis cars are going downhill. 2.5T doesn’t have several features with prestige package. This includes soft close with doors. Power rear features are missing and what the cheapness doesn’t stop there. They remove spare tire to save Pennie’s over dollars. Nice way to deal with chip shortage. Terrible dealership service. Dealers don’t have a clue about car features and can’t articulate them. Service warranty that hides several iffs and else. When you pay 70k for a car you don’t expect a Subaru. But, wait. Subaru are much better cars than cheap Genesis. Don’t buy into hype. Stay away.

Classy looking head turner
I purchased a GV80 2.5t prestige. This is the 4th SUV I have owned over the last 14 years and by far the best purchase I have made. All my previous purchases were high end as well and this is the only one I keep getting stopped by strangers to ask about it and compliment it consistently. I was looking forward to getting a Genesis for a while now due to a great reputation but when I saw the 2023 myself and my wife said that is the one for us by far. This is the first 4 cylinder SUV and I was very impressed at the power delivered. The interior is exquisite and although I purchased the highest end trim I noticed even the base models come with more standard features than competing vehicles. It has all the bells and whistles and rides great. The safety alerts and the 3D image on the windshield giving you driving speed (besides standard location) are phenomenal. I am not the most tech savvy person, but once I got past the learning curve I was amazed at all the useful features it has and I still haven’t used everyone yet. It amazes me that I am able to have my SUV back out of a parking spot without me even being in the car. Hey, I am not going to bore you with every detail I suggest if you are looking for a luxury SUV take a look at this before deciding. Tremendous amount of features for the price versus competition. Genesis has been super customer friendly and it is a pleasure to deal with everyone. The service provided is huge. They truly want to keep their customers happy. It is good these days to see there is still some work ethics. Good luck with your next vehicle.

Great comfy, quiet car!
We really like our GV-80! It drives great and is very quiet. The extra features are excellent - nearly self driving on the highways. Cruise control and lane centering works in stop and go traffic all the way up to top speeds (it's very fast). The heads-up display is really helpful, as are the blind spot cameras. I also like that I can do software updates at home instead of having to take it to the dealer. Great car!

Lemon
9 months of ownership, 4 months in the dealership. You receive the welcome light from the side mirrors first, then you receive another engine welcome light when you step into the car.
Dangerous
This is the beginning of my campaign. This beautiful and expensive vehicle has turned into a nightmare. Although Genesis has offered me money to be quiet and go away or opportunity to buy it back neither option is reasonable or fair. So my journey begins. It looks so nice and has all the bells and whistles but mechanically, electrically, and operationally it is flawed to the point where it is dangerous. I’ll keep you posted……please don’t buy one of these……..mine is a 2023 GV 80.
Genesis GV80 (2023) Review: From Dreamboat to Date
Let me tell you about my Genesis GV80 I bought in 2023, brand new, because this wasn’t just a car purchase. This was the one. He swept me off my feet. Stylish, smooth, luxurious. He had presence. He had promise. He had... lane assist. And that, my friends, was one of the main reasons I signed that dotted line. I was smitten. The first year and a half? Absolute heaven. Lane assist was the co-pilot of my dreams—confident, reliable, always there to gently guide me through traffic like a well-trained emotional support boyfriend. I used to brag about it. "Oh, you just got a Tesla? That’s cute. My GV80 ALSO senses the road.” But then—like any good Dateline episode—the relationship took a turn. It started with subtle mood swings.Like any good passive-aggressive relationship. One minute he’s hugging the lane like a supportive boyfriend, the next he’s trying to yeet himself into oncoming traffic with all the grace of a confused toddler on skates. I'm talking, “The grass is greener over there,” he whispers seductively as he swerves toward a ditch, a semi, or literally anywhere but the road. And that smug little green circle stays on like, “Yes, queen, this is definitely the way.” All I know is one day he decided that the white lines on the road were merely suggestions and that perhaps we were destined for that patch of gravel, or the loving embrace of a passing semi.Meanwhile, I’m white-knuckling the wheel, doing deep breathing exercises, and wondering if the GV80 has secretly joined a death cult. And then—oh, THEN—you add cruise control with active lane assist into the mix? That’s when things get next level. Like, “WTF, are we driving or enrolling in an experimental AI program?” Suddenly the car decides it’s self-aware, starts making executive decisions, and I’m just a passenger in what feels like a government test of trust issues. There’s nothing quite like watching your luxury SUV confidently steer itself into a lane you didn’t choose while telling you, with its smug little green ring, “Relax. I’ve got this.” Spoiler: it does not got this. So there I was, testing the very feature that sold me on this car—lane assist—stone-cold sober, yet somehow driving like I'd had three margaritas , a case of beer and 8 tequila shots. When was your first time ever using a breathalyzer? Me? That day. Not because I needed it, but because I needed to prove to the police officer (and myself) that I wasn’t the problem. Honestly, I told the cop that it’s the GV80 that needs to blow next time. He’s the one making questionable choices. And the gaslighting? Oh, it’s a masterpiece, chef’s kiss. He jerks into a new lane, narrowly avoiding vehicular Tinder, and then after nearly sideswiping a Prius and flirting with the guardrail, he flashes the “Drive Carefully” warning like I’M the unhinged one. Like, okay, Chad. Maybe if you weren’t trying to cuddle with every car in traffic, we wouldn’t be in this situation. So naturally, I took him to the dealership like, “Look, he’s not well.” But wouldn’t you know it? Smooth. Silent. The golden child. Suddenly he’s on his best behavior and performing like he just got accepted into Juilliard. “Nothing’s wrong with it,” they say. Oh sure. I bet he paid them off. Probably uploaded a Venmo payment from his built-in navigation screen while I was distracted by the massaging seat function. Classic sociopath. In conclusion, the GV80 is hot and then cold, yes and then no, in and then out, up and then down. Katy Perry was clearly describing this vehicle. It’s a toxic situationship on wheels. One minute I love him. The next, I’m wondering if he’s actively trying to kill me. Buy him if you want luxury, drama, and the adrenaline rush of never knowing if today is the day you die—or arrive in style....and the added thrill of wondering what personality your vehicle will have today. Final Verdict: 1 star — subtracting 5 for emotional trauma, adding 1 back for the heated seats.

Better than my Range Rover or Cayenne
I have had my GV80 about a year and a half and it has been PERFECT! I looked at a used Bentley Bentayga ($192k) and the Genesis had more features. Comfortable and smooth rides are amazing, and it can still be used to haul what we need to.

Mannn when I tell you the GV80 is the best choice I've ever made😍 This car is powerful and fully loaded. The best warranty in which Rick Case doubles it. A high profile car with lots of great features in it. It's worth the price tag💯💯

In door cup/bottle/can design 2023 GV80
I’d give it Zero stars if I could. What were they thinking ? The only thing that fits in door is the genesis 12 oz slim bottle of water that they gave us at the dealership. Love the car but this is terrible. Whatever fits in hole lays partially on its side. 🤷🏻♀️
