Below the radar affordable V8 Gran Touring Coupe
I bought my 1992 Thunderbird Sport 5.0 H.O. in 2017. I initially purchased it as a possible car for my son. He didn't like it. So, it became my daily driver. When I went to look at it I realized a few systems would need to be fixed like the drivers side auto-seat belt drive system. For some reason it "consumes alternators" I have replaced the alternator twice in five years. I have fixed the auto seat-belt drive system 1 1/2 times. I had the original radiator replaced as it was starting to clog up from the scale and calecha found in the water of the southwest. I overhauled and rebuilt the power steering pump due to seal leakage from normal wear & tear. Other than that it's been a very reliable and fun car to drive. It has the powerful and smooth 5.0 H.O. V8 which has ample torque for road trips and around town locally. The suspension and steering components are sourced from the Super-Coupe of the same year, so it handles a lot better than a LX V8 T-Bird. An affordable way to get into a grand touring car with the proven and popular 5.0 H.O. engine and a better suspension than the 92 Mustang GT.

My Used 1992 Ford Thunderbird
I purchased this car when it was only 2 years old and still have it. When I had surgery, I hadn't driven it in 2+ months and when I went to start it, the engine started up the first time. The 3.8 V6 engine is a good one and doesn't give me any trouble. The only sore things about it is the odometer as it's gone out twice. I love the car and would never dream of getting rid of it.
One Fast Bird!
The Thunderbird SuperCoupe was the coolest car Ford ever built. It's a shame that they did not keep making them. The most fun car I've ever driven!
Fun car, keep your wallet close.
This is my 2nd SC and it is a blast to drive, when it runs. I bought it with bad head gaskets, the dealer ran 87 octane when it requires 91 or better. I have driven both the auto and 5 speed and the 5 speed is by far more fun than the auto though it is notchy and does get expensive to fix if it breaks. But then again, the whole car is like that. The handling is outstanding for a car its size and it does it with out sacraficing the ride. The interior is a little dated for today but it still is nice and doesn't have all the squeaks and rattles that would be expected from a car this old. Over all, if you don't have a strong mechanical back ground or a deep wallet this car is not for you.
Best Car Ever
Because I was a Bill Elliott fan, all I wanted was a bright red Thunderbird. When I saw this car, it was love at first sight. I am still driving it after 16 years. It still is a great handling car. My T-Bird still looks great and gets good gas mileage. Ford would recover faster if it starting building cars like this again.
