CATCHY TITLE?? ROTTEN TRANSMISSION
Our first one the tranny went out about 120000 miles and that was 80 percent highway miles,,,I thought it was just a fluke but now my 2003 Tarus is acting like the tranny is going out on it also, and I bought it brand new and they promised me Ford had fixed any problems previous Tauras had and I kept kept up on everything you need to keep up on oil changes transmission cleaning and new fluids steering all of it, but the transmission gets stuck in park sometimes and just acts like it doesnt want to shift properly, and the steering feels warped,,,not explaining myself very well but im sure people know what I mean. It has 135000 on it, it does sadden me because its a beutiful car still and the engine runs perfect no problems at all except that nasty transmission problem! Maybe ford has finnally fixed that? Sorry about spelling...My daughter had a tarus years ago and her transmision went out too. Do they even make taurus anymore? Im selling mine to a mechanic friend for 100$ sorry Ford but this has been my experience and I believe in telling the truth..Thank you fl

Transmission broke in less than 30 days!
The car looks and drives great to begin with, has lots of bells and whistles. It has gone though dealer inspection and check list w/o problems, and with assertions that car's parts are all in good health. Yet, with only 80K miles on it, it broke down in the middle of the highway at high speed and can not longer be driven. We were told it needs a new transmission in less than 30 days of occasional use and less than 1000 miles driven! Very very disappointed!

Highly reliable, well built car
I bought my wagon six years ago w/34k. I was initially hesitant to purchase since it was a rental vehicle but I got a really good deal. I now have 122k on it and it's still running strong. Other than a couple rounds of brakes, tires I've had little problems. An occasional heater fan, strut here and there; but it could've been much worse. I must admit it doesn't have a lot of frills; was surprised it came with a tape player (it's a 2003!) Mine came with the standard features, power windows, ac, cruise etc. The quality/ride of the car is ok; again, you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a station wagon in this era; the Taurus will get you the most for your money.
It's My Baby!
I will probably keep this car until parts are no longer available for it. It handles well, seats comfortably, and rides magnificently. The only thing I would change about it would be a llittle better gas mileage, but I can overlook that for the rest of what it does. It's my baby!
