Used 2001 Ford Taurus SES 4dr Sedan (3.0L 6cyl 4A) Consumer Reviews
I like mine
I have had mine for nearly 4 years and haven't put anything into it except a small sensor. It gets me between 25 to 29mpg. I like it and would like to get one of the new Taurus's.
Ford Taurus, Mistake
Since the day I purchased this car I have problems. Starting with dealership, they played with numbers. wrote Ford a few times made several calls but useless. They do not cooperate; have no control over the dealers. A few months later the keyless entry failed, AC fan making noise. The car sometimes hesitiates to pickup. Recently a dealer said it is a fuel filter, cost about $70, but it was not the problem. Complain to Ford again, customer service is polite but dealer again did not care what they are saying and what you are saying. Devalue more that 50% in less than 3 years with 25K miles. I would never let anyone buy Ford if I can.
Bland but dependable
Bought 1 yr old w/5000 miles now at 155k drove in wi 4 yrs az 5 yrs replaced brake rotors at 80k, (use premium or they will warp) ac compressor at 125k, starter at 100k, head gaskets at 130k, radiator at 150k all in all a good car I liked the bland style thieves and cops don't seem to see it.
no engine problems
Weak front end and suspension system, which I'm finding is typical of Ford. Sound system marginal. Very disappointing car. Good dealership.
Ruined 3 months of my life!!
I bought my taurus used, at the beginning of this year. It was in pretty good condition when I got it, then it started leaking all the time. It turned out it was transmission fluid all along, and this went on for about a week, and when i went to drive it one day, the transmission was just ruined. I had it towed many times to shops and it would be fixed for a short while and do the same thing. I finally got rid of it and am getting a jetta next week. I would not recommend this car to anyone its a piece of junk and will only take money out of your pocket and the gas mileage stunk.
