More then I expected!
I traded my Tundra in for better MPG. My wife and I visit family 1900 miles away every 3 months. We do this in two long days. The gas MPG average was 25.4. The big surprise was the seats were incredible comfortable compared to the larger Tundra. The Ranger is easy to drive and has plenty of power for passing. Great truck! Great ride!

Best vehicle I have ever owned
Outstanding value in its class. I have a 4WD FX4 version. Nothing to complain about off road as it has more than sufficient capability in that regard. Excellent power and fuel efficiency. Tracks and drives exceptionally smoothly and well. Great for long distance trips. Plenty of cab room in the super cab model. Excellent transmission. Ford knows how to make a great truck. There is really no competitor to this vehicle in its class, and that includes Toyota Tacoma and Honda Ridgeline trucks that cost more and have inferior capabilities . The Ranger is now the best selling compact 4WD truck in Australia, and there are a lot of reasons why that’s true. Find out for yourself and go drive one and compare.

21 Ranger Love it!
I got the truck to replace my 2019 ford connect do i was pretty familiar with the interior and controls. I got an STX/FX4 package and it looks mean and handles really well. I took the truck to the coast (Eureka CA) right out the gates and let me tell you coming from a connect van with a 4 cyl and no power this thing was a big difference up the hills. When i purchased it i actually did not realize it had a turbo i was just thinking of gas mileage efficiency. It had no problem getting up the steep hills with a moderate load like 500 pounds of tools and 2 passangers and it handled the curves like it was on tracks. So far in 6 days i have put 1500 miles on it and have been babying the engine. Im getting 21 mpg average which is not too bad with a 4x4 truck. Overall i like the driveability but do wish they offered the navigation as an option on the lower trim but it looks like a cool 2500 bucks can get you a sync 3 with a replacement dash panel so may go that route. Besides that it still has a back up cam and pre collision alert and you can lock/unlock/ remote start with the ford pass app still so thats pretty great. Update December 2021 still love the truck I've had it since July and put 25k miles on it and no issues so far. The 4x4 system has held up on a couple weeks of rough 12 hour days on cell tower mountain roads, dusty and rough terrain with a bunch of washboard cut areas. It handled pretty good even got some air time trying to keep up with a decked out f350. I do want to add a 20 inch Led bar in the huge hole that is in the front bumper or at least a mesh. The interior has held up so far it is not a high trim level so vinyl floors clean up easy. Still getting 21 mpg average with a steel camper shell added 200 lbs and 500 lbs of tools. It does fairly good up hills/steep grade roads and easily switches to manual gear selection for easy downhill control. Oil changes are pretty easy DIY, a few oil change places have turned down working on the truck because they don't want to deal with removing the bash plate but it is just 4 bolts (way less than many plastic undercarriage covers for cars) also the tiny engine takes 6.25 quarts of oil so it gets pricy.

Better fuel mileage then advertised.
Fuel mileage Est: 21 city, 26 hwy. I have averaged 23.5 mpg to 24 mpg city and 29 mpg to 31 mpg hwy. A lot of option to for only a XL package Hard to believe that it is only a 4 cylinder plenty of power.

XLT Black out trim package
I was driving a GMC Canyon and really liked the truck except the seat comfort. I even had the SLT with leather. I drive 45-50,000 mile/ year and need comfortable seats. I had tested the Ranger when they first came out and transmission issues trying to find gears was a big issue on the test drive. 3 years later, Ford appears to have it corrected. Way more comfortable compared to the GMC. I was concerned about going to a 4 cylinder but I’ve been very impressed. Plenty of power and towels really well. Things I don’t like, doors sound cheap when you close them. Shocks are not very good. Breaks a spongy. These are all relative to the Canyon. I am getting very good gas mileage averaging 25 mpg with a 2 wheel drive model and 70%highway. I liked that I could get a locking rear with a 2 wheel drive model. So far no issues with 8000 miles. Update at 62,000 miles. No issues with the truck so far. Runs great and gas mileage getting 26 mpg based on vehicle computer in mostly highway driving. I use regular unleaded and synthetic oil every 7,000 miles. On my second set of tires (Cooper Evolution). Update at 85,000 miles: Started having some clunking in the transmission and shifting hesitation. After reading on the Ranger forum, sounds like a common issue and Ford often misdiagnoses the problem as a transmission issue. I replaced the EGR sensor ($100 part most people can do) and problem resolved. Several forum members have reported similar results from this fix. Carbon deposits is the assumed cause of the egr sensor problem. Still getting 26-27 mpg. Still on the original breaks. Had transmission fluid and filter replaced at 75,000.
