Saw on this evenings' news that Ford got bad marks for their transmissions .Finally all of us that have been complaining about the strange 6sp. auto. has been heard. Can we hope that Ford will properly address these problems? Ford is still building some great looking cars but oh those trannys are a nightmare. The 6 sp was supposed to increase mpg. but how can it if the engine is reving like a race car between gears?

Several major flaws in a 2010 Fusion SE

This Fusion was recalled for the faulty transmission switch and was repaired. My Wife bought this car without me driving it first I wish I had. Here are issues I have with a Ford Fusion The design of the car seems to based on looks rather than functionality. The windshield is enormous while the seat height sits low in the car. This car has a black gauge cluster you can’t see while driving in daytime. Sun glare makes it invisible that’s a major annoyance. The Fusion seems to fight its way to steer straight down the road and into every groove. Understeer is so ridiculous you have to muscle the car into every turn. The driver side window control runs the window all the way down with one touch, not sure why, U turning takes a lot of ground too. Shutting the trunk lid seems to require a solid slam to engage the lock. Computer electronics don’t do anything for me but they seem to give mileage and fuel numbers, distance. I recommend to not buy a Fusion just on the under steering alone and the black gauge cluster are a complete design failure.

first impression-excellent

Bought used with 52k and #1 reason for purchase was SYNC. cold weather and first tank of gas is still averaging 28mpg! woo hoo! 4cylinder seems to have better low end power than up top. no issues with trans even when cold. very aerodynamic-gains speed easily down the slightest grade. seats have great support but headrest pushes my head too far forward. text function "not supported" for iphone3...hmmm? back seats have lots of room for tall people. had to adjust fog lamps way up...no idea how previous drivers actually found them useful. so far HVAC is good-fan is slightly noisy. not the refinement of a cadillac or lexus but GREAT value for contents. gauges easy to read.

So Far So Good.

My brother went from his '96 Taurus to a '10 Fusion SE. He decided to buy one after I got my '12 SEL. The cars has 85k and it's been great so far. Occasionally the cap less fuel door has to be cleaned otherwise it triggers an error. The car is still very solid, but does have an odd rattle from the exhaust. No performance problems though. My brother also likes the SYNC system, and finds it easy to use. The car achieves about 18-22 mpg city, and 24-29 mpg hwy. He has a VERY heavy foot, so he doesn't quite get excellent economy, or close to what this car can get. I however get about 22-24 mpg city, and 27-31 mpg hwy. We're both happy we made the right choice with the Ford Fusion.

Throttle Body issues

This has been a good car for us, weve had it for about 3 years now. Some issues that we have been having is with the throttle body. Going 70 miles an hour and the gas pedal stops working is a bit scary. Driving down the road and it cuts off at any point with no warning due to the throttle body is even more scary. Ford charges $400.00 for the part to fix even though its a safety issue and several have been having the same issue. Also minor things like chrome pealing off the interior door handles, parking break button. Paint wearing off interior pieces. Note: That my car gets detailed about once every two weeks so its not from a lack of care just bad quality.
