lots of head room, responds quickly.. great family vehicle/or hauling building material etc. handles well on the highway great visability since its height is more than the average car. handles very well in heavy rain. easy to park and handles well at high speeds on turnpike. Very happy with this vehicle also insurance cost doesnt take you to the cleaners.. Safe for the grandkids...

Wife and I are ski instructors and it handles wonderful in the snow and ice. Much better than our 2 previous Explorers. We have towed a 1100 lb flat bed trailer with no problem. Poor gas mileage for size of vehicle; we average 17-18 MPG.

Better choices available

I bought this as a dealer's demo with 4,000 miles and the truck performed pretty good mechanically. Needed tires at 32,000 miles. The ride was very noisy with a lot of wind noise and road noise. After 30,000 miles the ride was very rough and the truck was all over the road on bumpy roads. I recently bought my wife a Kia Sportage and that vehicle runs rings around the excape as far as comfort, ride and standard features although the Excape does have a more powerful engine. There are better choices in this price range.

Fun Little SUV

This SUV is fun to drive. It is spunky with plenty of power. The interior is nicely laid out, with more room than you would think. The seats are stiff, but hopefully they will soften up a bit after some use. I can fit plenty of things in the back. A stroller, a golf bag, plenty of groceries, and even my sons little bike. For the money this vehicle is a great deal.

I bought a new, left over 2004 Escape. Within two hours of leaving the dealer the accelerator would not release and I found myself going 85 mph on the highway with the speed increasing. I managed to put it into neutral and pull over to the side with the engine racing. A tow truck was called and took me and the car back to the dealer. I found out Ford Motor Company had recalled 2002 through 2004 Escapes to fix accelerator problems, but my dealer had failed to fix it before selling it to me. He is claiming ice build up was the problem, not the accelerator cable. Either way, a car that dangerous should not be on the road.
