Impresive
Have had the C-Max for 18 months now. Its been a great ride, very fun, quick and feels great to drive. A very good job from ford, everything feels great and such a good job of automating the car where lights, wipers and everything is automatic. The car is very well executed, although CVT, it feels right and has good acceleration. Power and handling both are good up to 90 MPH and above that this is not so fun, making it better suited for City and traffic, particularly great electric only ride in heavy traffic with out turning on the engine at all up to 85 MPH. Being in LA, have just done 20,000 miles and looking forward to many more. This is no prius, the higher seating, weight and drive feel more like a cross between a mini minivan and a hot hatchback (which is very heavy at almost 4,000 pounds). My best tank MPG was about 85 MPG, almost 1,100 miles a 12 gallon tank and least has been around 65 MPG. I am due for a second oil change shortly, making it 10,000 interval for maintenance which is always a good bonus. Not much I would fault the car for, maybe a bit higher ride and ground clearance be good but I do like the ride. I got the plug in, but the hybrid only ones were more fun, much lighter and sharper rides. I do have passengers often and the back seat is very comfortable. Ford has a winning formula for the car of the future, size, power and the whole package.

Just a fantastic car!
I love this car. It's no hot rod but it has plenty of go when it needs it. I work only about 12 miles from where I live so I'm doing almost all my driving on electric power. Cargo room is a bit limited with the back seats up, but with them folded down there's plenty. It's comfortable. The SYNC system works well. And it's quiet!

The safety features saved me
I had this car for a short time. Than I had a horrific crash. My little c-max was totaled. But I walked away (after they pried me out of the car). The safety features definitely did their job. Even the folks at the body shop, it was towed to, said they were surprised when I showed up the next day (I wrecked it on a Sunday) they assumed I was in a hospital and would not be showing up for awhile. But the car was a lot of fun to drive. I traded in a focus when I bought it. The C-Max is built on a focus chaise so the handling was very similar. Which is to say it handles very well. The acceleration takes a little getting used to, because it accelerates very fast, but makes no noise. If you are switching from gas to electric beware of that, you can find yourself going 60 MPH in a 35 zone without even realizing you are speeding. My only complaint about the car is the my ford touch system is rather crumby. But they did change that in 2016. Also if you can find one with a backup camera that is a nice feature. Ford decided to make the backup camera an expensive option, so most don't have it. But I must say, because this car is three years old a lot of them are coming on the market as people turn in their leases. if you are looking for a good used car that gets great mileage and is fun to drive, you will love the C-Max.

Is FORD asleep
This car was purchased June 29, 2016 .From Livermore Ford in Livermore California...drove the car 39 miles--there are 84 miles on the speedometer. In less than 24 hours, the car would NOT start! Two weeks plus and Ford still has NO fix for this problem. The car is still sitting at the dealership and cannot be started. The dealer service dept. is still waiting to hear from Ford Motor Co. for some type of "fix". The Customer Service Rep. from Ford Motor Co. had only one suggestion "give them time to fix the problem." Wow--we have no new car to drive, and Ford has our money which paid for the entire price of the car in cash! We are home now--900 miles from the new car, which we could not drive home, and no one seems upset by this problem except for us and the dealership which has the car..Ray Brisbine [contact info removed]..[ July 24 and still do not have car ] Update--Took Ford Motor Co. & Livermore Ford 10 weeks to resolve this problem! Car is fine, but dealership & Ford are NOT customer friendly in any way Update: left two messages for Dianna Duke, the Sales Manager at Livermore Ford, and she has not returned my calls. The original problems were magnified by the total and complete inaction of Livermore Ford--which apparently continues today!

2016 Ford C-Max Energi SEL
Update: My 2016 Ford C-Max Energi SEL is now four years old. I have replaced the APIM at a cost just under $1300.00. I still sometimes get a seemly false no GPS symbol occasionally. But the moving map still operates correctly. I bought a map update but, the ESN number for the new APIM was different from the records I had a hard time getting maps compatible with the new APIM and had the correct ESN number. The most positive thing I can say about it is the fuel economy. My average MPGe is right now 67. I now have passed 43,000 miles. I have recently made a seven to eight hour trip from Texas to Louisiana. I drive on electric/auto gas setting and I charge frequently. My electric bill has probably gone up $5 to $8 a month approximately. I have found the electric miles I get per charge depends a lot on temperature. This November in South Texas has been warmer then usual and I have gotten at times 18 to 20 electric miles per charge. The noise it makes when running only on gasoline and travelling at low speeds has now almost gone away. But, the manual says the noise was normal. At highway speeds the cabin noise is quiet except when doing extreme acceleration in hilly terrain but, the pick-up is good. Also, when on cruise control it does lose the set speed more than I would expect when driving on hilly terrain. I think this is suppose to be a gas saving feature as I read the manual. This is not desirable.
