Very nice truck, just towed a relative's Taurus 250 miles & truck didn't even break a sweat (mine has the 4.7L engine). Well made vehicle, Infinity audio system is excellent. Power is good with the base 4.7, gas mileage is ok too considering this is a full size truck. Truck has the optional Goodyear 265/70x17's Wrangler SR/A's, much better ride than the standard Michelins. 20" wheels look good but give the truck a buckboard ride on the first truck I demo drove at the dealer.

Actually broke down in the first 35 miles. Dealer was outstanding in getting bad wiring repaired. Still the best truck owned.

I've had my truck for a little over a year ,and have found it to be reliable . I did however find existing body damage hidden under the weather gasket. The dealer fixed it but, I'm now finding spider type blisters under my clear coat. The dealer has pledged to fix the paint but I can't help but think I bought a 1500 with some issues

This is our 3rd Dodge. The other two were Grand Caravans. I can personally attest to Dodge quality and safety. My husband was hit and broadsided in his Grand Caravan. It sustained $15,000 worth of damage, but he came out with only very minor injuries,l thanks to Dodge engineering. Our new 2004 Ram 1500 slt has that same quality feel and weight, yet it handles adeptly and the ride is great. The seating is very comfortable, the lit instrument panel easy to read and overall, it is an excellent ride. Theres plenty of storage, and the front seat center console box is great for storing maps and other needed quickly items.

This truck has more poer and acceleration than any truck I've ever owned. I was strictly a Chevy guy and had good luck with them, but the looks and feel of this truck won me over. I have had many people walk past when sitting in the truck and comment on the good looks. If I have a complaint, they over exagerated the mileage. It's no where near what the comparable Chevy gets. I hope the power and looks are worth the loss in mileage.

awesome truck but mileage isn't as advertised...it gets about 11 mile to the gallon

If your looking for a great all-a-round truck, can't beat the Dodge. Interior very roomy with plenty of storage. Have 4 kids, so I need lots of room. I've got the Hemi. It does get a little thirsty, but when you hit the pedal it takes off, even at 75(+). Have 35k miles in just 1yr with no problems. I will have to say it does have a vibration a little when I'm turning to the right after a stop. Feel it in the right front brake. I use Amsoil series 3000 synthetic motor oil. Great oil with less break down, which means less oil changes. Truck has plenty of torque for towing. Hate to get rid of this truck but have to go to the Dodge 3/4 with Cummins. Need the mileage since I drive over 35K(+) a year.

I have a new flame red 2003 Ram 1500 Quad Laramie with the Hemi and 20" wheels. It looks and sounds great. The interior is really comfortable and well thought-out, and you can see over everyone else, even with 2wd. The price was great with Dodge going after market share right now and the fact that it was a year-end close out. I love to drive it. I had a Chevy before, and did not think I would buy anything else, but decided to try the Dodge after driving it. It has the best warranty, most horsepower, best interior features, and best looks of any pickup out there.

THIS TRUCK RIDES GREAT. IF YOU CAN GET THE HEMI, GET IT. THERE IS PLENTY OF POWER WHEN YOU NEED IT. NOT TO GOOD ON GAS BUT IT IS A FULL SIZE TRUCK. THE INTERIOR IS NICE FOR THE MONEY,AND IS QUIET INSIDE. YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG WITH THIS TRUCK.

I've found my Dodge truck to be both fun and tough. It went through being rear ended at 20+ mph with only minor damage and no occupant injuries. It does pretty well on mpg with averages of over 20 mpg on the highway. I drove it through a huricane in SC through headlight deep water and high winds with no problems at all. It handles well and with the hemi engine has plenty of power and performance. I am very pleased with this truck.

Best of both worlds with muscle car looks and performance. Cavernous interior for my six foot three body. Mechanically reliable so far at 17k miles.

I bought a brand new Dodge Ram Quad Cab in August 2003. It had the 4.7 in it, which was fine for what I was using it for. But I test drove a Hemi in February of 2004 and fell in love with it. It feels much tighter all the way around. Needless to say, I traded in the 4.7 to get the 5.7. If you are debating whether or not to get the Hemi...GO FOR IT! It is well worth the extra $895.

This truck takes me back to the 60's. I graduated from high school in 1965 and I owned a 1965 Olds 442. I also owned a 1970 Chevelle 454 with the LS6 motor and nothing compares to this truck. Thanks to Dodge for coming out with this truck. I owned a Ford 2000 lightning, but this truck puts that too shame. Go Dodge!

I just picked up my 2004 Quad cab HEMI Ram and I'm totally impressed. The styling, 20 in Wheels, HEMI power (opt 3:92 gear) this truck really HAULS THE MAIL! Too new to comment about gas mileage, but after trading in my '99 GMC Suburban w/ 454 motor (9 mpg)...anything will be a pleasant change. It handles like a sports car and rides like a dream.

Ride is a little too stiff, but there is ample room in the interior and the 5 speed auto- trans is very smooth on the Hemi.

Love the interior and exterior appearance. Silver paint and 20 inch chrome wheels really add to the appearance. Slate gray leather interior (Laramie package). Very smooth ride. Added nerfs, bug deflector and locking gas cap (mopar). Truck has been a real head-turner. Excellent service from dealer and a GREAT deal! Purchased at end of month AND quarter, AAA purchase program (invoice + 1-5%), cash, $1500 incentive. Used Internet to research purchase THOROUGHLY! Truck has poor gas mileage (expected this!). Loose gas cap will cause check engine light to turn on.

I really like this truck. It doesn't have the best mileage, but worth it. It is light in the back but okay. Overall this is a great truck.

With a slightly modified '96 RT/10 already nestled in my garage, I didn't expect the truck to rival its performance. It doesn't. After all, it's hauling around nearly a ton more in curb weight. But this baby is plenty quick and fun to drive. It's thirsty at 10.3 mpg, about what I get from the RT/10 under reasonably normal (?)driving conditions. Bottom line - it's nice to have an "almost" Viper with electric windows, good air conditioning, a radio you can hear, and a truck bed for the golf clubs.

I got the hemi and man I tell you it is a great truck people want to compare with the Ford supercharged that's apples and oranges but with a couple of modes it blows the Ford and Chevys away.

I bought it for a toy, a toy it is. Eye catching, ear catching, heart catching. You don't buy one and worry about the mileage. If you can buy one and pay cash, you will have even more fun.The navagation system is a must option, I'll be taking it around to show it off to all.

This is the third dodge ram i have purchased 97, 00, and now 2004 wow!! it is the most powerful and beautiful at the same time, with the HEMI POWER that my husband loves and i only know it drives great.

What awesome Hemi power. Blows away most other cars and trucks. Bought used at 5000 miles and added cruise and power locks. Just drove 3000 miles in rain, snow and sleet including mountain driving and freeways. Averaged 16.5 mpg at 75 to 80 mph and a big load in the bed. Love this truck! No repairs, only oil changes since purchase.

I plan to update the review after a few months, but even after just one day of owning my new 2004 Ram 1500 SLT QC 4x4 SWB I am so happy with it I wanted to write about it. I drove the truck about 40 miles today - I just couldn't stop myself, it was such a blast. The truck handles great in town, on the highway - everywhere. I haven't taken it on the trail yet, but I have no reason to doubt it will be at home there, too. Some of the perks in the SLT really shine through - the power drivers seat, the upgraded cloth seats, the infinity stereo system, the cool storage compartments, etc.
Cant Dodge it? Ram it...

I've had this truck for 8 months, and I've enjoyed her. I've added a CD player and subwoofer, having a camper top (bought her with it) helped when moving home at end of college year. I'm a big guy (6'2") and I fit perfectly in the driver seat, the white faced gauges are easy to see/read. The lack of shelving behind the seats were a dissappointment, so i built some of my own. The 4.7L at times seems underpowered but gets the job done satisfactorally. All and all, she is a great truck.

I bought this truck in 2002, has the 4.7 with full towing package. I towed a 25 ft travel trailer to Utah last year. (fr0m Louisiana) Not one problem. I towed to Connecticut and New York this year with a new 28 ft trailer. I wish I had the Hemi, but it wasn't available at the time of purchase. Still the truck performed flawlessly. My wife loves it. This is my first Dodge. Odometer is now at 35000. With the 20 inch tires the ride is nice and smooth. My next move will be up to the 2500. My trailers seem to be getting bigger not smaller.

This is by far the worst truck I have ever owned. It has been at the dealership approx. 12-15 times since I bought it for repairs. The majority of the issues are from the transmission (imagine that/Dodge). I am currently trying to sell this heap. I will never purchase a Chrysler product again!

This truck is awesome. I think you need to get the 20's if you get anything. Powerful, sharp looking and fun to drive. I just got my first ticket so watch the speedometer.

The 5.7 hemi is awsome for towing or heavy loads but gas mileage is awful! The truck rides unblievably good, light or loaded and its ashort wheel base!

We love our Dodge Hemi! We have driven tthroughthe rough desert terrain, and pulled horses with it. We love how roomy the interior is; We eat our food on the huge arm between us, like as if it were a table, when we are on the road. We think it is the toughest loking, that actually performs up to its appearance!

Was very disappointed with this truck when the highway mileage claim for the Hemi 5.7 was 18 and the actual was closer to 13. The steering feels like there isn't enough caster. Go across a railroad crossing a little fast and you will think its all about to end. The interior is nice as long as you dont have to sit on the seats. Mine is the Laramie and the seats are hard and not comfortable. Had a power steering line blow and had to wait a week for a part. This was my first new Chrysler product and also my last. The engine is powerful but with that kind of fuel mileage I would expect Viper performance.

ever since i could remember, i always looked forward to my dad bringing home a new ford truck, every couple years. i too, bought fords in the past, but then decided, i didnt need something so big and the ranger was too small, so i looked at the dakota.after 3 strong years without a single problem, we bought a camper and we started looking at the big trucks again.i just couldnt seepaying the ford price, i looked at the new ram and fell in love! especially for the deal we got. later, after buying our 4 door 4x4 with the hemi, the new ford came out. glad i went with the dodge. the ford is smaller and less powerful and still costs way too much.

MY RAM TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 5.7 HEMI MOTOR. IT HAS POWER TO SPARE. AND IT IS VERY FUN TO DRIVE. I LIVE IN NORTH OHIO. WE HAVE HAD A LOT OF SNOW IN THE PAST MONTH. MY TRUCK LAUGHS AT THE SNOW. SINCE I AM OVER 6'AND 260LB IT IS HARD TO FIND A VEHICLE TO FEEL CONFORTABLE IN. THE RAM TRUCK HAS PLENTY OF ROOM AND THEN SOME FOR 6 PEOPLE.

Mine is actually an '02 but since Edmunds doesn't take previous years into account for current reviews, I'm posting it here. This is my first Dodge. A friend owned an 02 Ram and raved about it so I test drove and decided to buy it as I needed a new truck This is a phenomenal ride. Power, styling, features and it's quality! Over 30k on it, it had 1 recall (blower motor fan which I had done when I got my oil changed) no problems whatsoever. It's worth every penny!

This is a monster truck. Definitely more "truck feel than a Ford". We test drove the new Ford and it resembled a floating car. The engine sounds good, the size is better. We have had references to it as being the "Cadillac" of trucks. We can fit adults in the back seat just as easy as in the front. The sound system is great. This is a purchase we have no regrets about.
