Bad Interference Engines
I had this car for two years beginning this week and the engine has been rebuilt and I am still having engine problems. So many others have had the EXACT same problems, which amazing to me. Obviously the car was built with nuts and bolts.
So far so good
Grabbed this car due to an amazing deal I got. It does handle pretty well for such a large car. I lowered my reliability rating because of Chrysler's apparent lack of responsibility as far as the 2.7L engine goes. So far all is well, though I keep Mobile1 running through her. If my engine does fail, DC better be ready for a stink!
For a used car, it's a great value for money
I've had this car for a few months now. I've had to change the brake pads and some transmission components. Bought it for $6500. Have spent about $1500 since, but the car has been very very reliable since and has been great on long 17 - 20 hour drives. Plenty of storage. Great for families. Taut driving and handling. Plenty of power. Great car.
i love intrepids
I absolutly love my intrepid. when i drive it its like im in a leer jet, i have my windows tinted and its low to the ground and i have beats in the trunk, i love driving around and showing it off, i would definatly pick an intrepid over a bmw or lexus. the outside styling of the car is perfect, i cant imagine how they could possibly improve it.
16 yrs latter still driving like a dream
great car and extremely underrated
Internal WATER pump INSIDE the 2.7 motor, BAD NEWS
I don't know what Dodge was thinking when they designed the 2.7 motor that goes in to the dodge intrepid. I believe there is also a 3.5, I don't know if it also shares the same crappy design. The water pump is built inside the motor so that when the water pump starts leaking, It leaks water into your engine oil. This is what happened to me and I did not know. The water pump was leaking as the oil floats on top of the water, So when I checked the oil there was no evidence of any water in the oil. I was driving the car down the road and the engine started squealing. I immediately shut the engine down and called for a tow true truck. I had to remove the upper fuel plenum, Power steering pump and bracket, Front radiator support, Front engine cover, Timing gears and chain just to get to the water pump. There may be some things that I have forgotten since I had to do this job in 2011. Unfortunately , it didn't save the motor and the car is now junk. The car had a beautiful interior nothing wrong with it but a crappy motor that costs a lot of money to replace a water pump if you do it on a maintenance basis with a mechanic shop. Luckily I am mechanically inclined to work on my own vehicles. I would never recommend a dodge intrepid to anyone because of this. Even though I was car repair literate, I did not know that there was an issue with this car because of the way that it was designed. Don't ever buy a car that has an internal water pump because it will leak straight into your oil and destroy your motor especially if you don't know a lot about cars. Find out everything you can about a car before you purchase it. Read all the reviews and all of the normal problems that they have before putting down that down.Payment on a car. You don't see that many dodge in trepid cars on the road, Probably because the majority of them had the 2.7 engine and they are sitting in some junkyard or someone's backyard somewhere because the engine is destroyed from having an internal water pump that leaked water down into your engine oil and destroyed the motor.

Not the greatest car out there
The 2004 is a cheaper version of the 2002,2003. Dodge has cut some real corners on this car. The seats are shorter and not as wide as the past models. There are many other areas that have been cheapened from previous year models. This is a company car, so I do not purchase this vehicle. Free is a good price to pay for a vehicle. If it cost one penny more I would not drive an Intrepid
transmission 1st 2 go after 110,000miles
very nice for your first car.pretty good size sedan. just shy of 30mpg.
Love my Intrepid
I love this car. Handles and corners beautifully. 3.5 6 cylinder delivers great acceleration and performance. Mine has a spoiler which I think further enhances the body design. If I were able to change one thing it would be the inferior interior, should have more color options except the dull grey. I'm not a leather fan.
The Best Sedan Ever Made
I leased a Dodge Intrepid for 4 yrs. and just purchased a new one. This car is the roomiest car I have ever been in and is great for road trips. My only complaint about the Intrepid I leased was that the back seats didn't fold down. I just purchased an SXT model and they have added that feature. I personally cannot say enough good things about this car. It has tons of leg room in the back, an enormous trunk, and a huge sunroof. It gets good gas mileage, has a powerful 250 hp engine(I've squealed the tires more than once), and looks really cool driving down the road! I'm not one to fall in love with a car, but when I saw Intrepid's mischievous "joker
Great Car!!
It's the best car I've ever had/ And I've owned 3 Dodge Intrepids.
