A Working/Playing Man's Truck!
Bought this truck used with 115,000 miles on it for a bargin price at the GM dealer. Wow! Nice! I've owned many of work trucks but this one is the beast of beasts. 15 city & highway, pulling or empty is consistant. Power going up hills equal to running on level ground.Expensive to maintain, yes, but, a small price in comparision with total reliability. Bounced between Ford & GM, but now, I'm totally sold on GM. I've never owned a new truck, it's the used ones that really prove themselves...LME-DJ tested!
217,000 miles and never stopped
i bought my 2004 chevy 2500hd 2dr 2wd longbed regular cab from my stepdad and its been great. He bought it brand new for quite a bit of money and sold it to me because he wanted a new truck for the farm. it has 217,000 miles and has never had to have it in the shop. the biggest thing i've had to do with it is put new tires on it. Its very reliable. I love this truck to death. I hate the gas mileage, but i have way more power than any other 3/4 ton truck i know. i wish it was a duramax but hey, im not complaining. it holds its value very well, and looks great. the tranny and engine aren't showing any signs of quitting so im good. i suggest this truck for anyone pulling a trailer or camper.

2004 crew cab Silverado 2500 2wd
Love this truck. Never short on power. Put a kn intake on it and power and acceleration has improved even more. Me and my wifes daily driver have had problems with electronics and radio luckily covered under warranty. Despite problems though me and my wife still love this truck, however I have not ever seen this truck get over 15 mpg city or hwy. I want to know what you guys getting 17 are doing. Overall great dependable and more than able truck. I would put it against Ford, Dodge, or Toyota any day
Great truck
We bought this truck 2 years ago. My husband is in construction and needed a work truck, but we also needed something that suit the family with 3 teens. Love this truck, lots of room, lots of power.
Great buy
Powerful and Classy. It could use better fuel mileage. It has everything a Tahoe could have but it has a bed. Worth getting the Lt package.
Silverado Duramax 2500
i have my Silverado with the Duramax engine for three years and not once has it broken down. We pull 13 000lbs and it's a beast.
Best ever
Had the truck for 6 months, 4,000 miles. Greatly impressed with my first GM product. Build quality and performance better than my old Ford Expi. Fully loaded, love the leather seats, and the sat. radio. Can't ask for more, other than better gas mileage. Not one single complaint.
Awesome truck
I have owned many trucks and all I can say is my 1988 2500 2wd 5.7 regular cab has 248,000 miles and still performs like new. I purchased 2004 2500 4wd crew cab 6.0 v8 last month and all I can say is this truck is truly superior too all other trucks. Ride looks handling and most of all performance. The power is unbelievable and gas mileage is 14 mpg around town and 17.8 on the highway, what more can I say great job gm. Ford, Dodge, Toyota step aside, I"m a GM man for ever.
Love My Truck!!
This is my second Silverado. I sold my 2002 extended cab 1500 silverado and bought this truck brand new in october. I love this truck. The ride is noticibly harsher then the half ton was but it really isnt that bad. The fuel mileage however is considerbly worse then my old one was. I used to be able to make over 400 miles on a tank on the highway while towing with my old truck (5.3 vortec) but this one doesnt wanna go much over 300 miles on a tank (hwy!!). The crew cab is great and my passengers all say that the back seat is great. Much better build quality too then my previous truck.
'04 Chevrolet
Plenty of power from the 6.0L engine. Fuel mileage has been 14.5 mph in town and up to 17 mpg on the highway with the 3.73 ratio. It also makes light work out of a trailer. It's a comfortable way to travel with up to 4 adults.
Heavy Chevy
This vehicle tows like nothing I have ever owned. Mileage is well within expectations. Both on and off road performance is very good but suspension is very stiff when not loaded. The numerous standard features are greatly appreciated. Am having problem keeping front wheel alignment with 4 W/D system but not excessive.
Like a rock
Bought this truck two years ago. This is a fun, powerful, mean, attention grabbing truck. It is not quick or nimble but has incredible highway manners. The 6.0 engine is sublime on cruise at 80 mph and at idle. Only had two problems in that time, the instrument cluster (replaced by the dealer under a recall) and a steering wheel shaft bearing. After thinking I was hearing a knock in the engine, I read about using 89 octane and the knocking stopped and I got 10% better mileage. The stock tires were 245/65/16 or about 29 inches, they're just too puny for this truck. 265/75/16 is pretty standard on these, and Load Range E is a must, I see 15-16 mpg highway. Do yourself a favor, get a Chevy.
Great truck
We bought this truck when it was new with only 12 miles on it. I love it except for the mpg. It's never, highway or city, gotten over 15 mpg. All the electronic problems we had were taken care of with the factory paying because they new of the defects. Tires for it are expensive but i guess they would be for any truck this size. Overall it's a great truck!
Chevy 2500
I did a lot of research before I bought this truck. I'm very pleased.
Smooth Ride
Great driving vehicle for a 3/4 ton! Have never ridden in a smoother riding 3/4 ton. Interior is nice, roomy and comfortable.
Great Truck
I have not had truck for long time, but what I have seen so far is great. It is very comfortablenad has a very solid feel to it. The engine has all the power I need. Over all the fit and finish is excellent.
My New Chevy in an "Ice Storm"
The truck handled easliy and the 6.0 Vortec 6000 V8 engine was very responsive. The power seats worked great. The four door crew cab is a plus in hauling around adult relatives in comfort. My first weekend we ran into an ice storm that continued all night. This enabled me to use the real strength of this truck. I put the truck in auto four wheel drive and it handled the ice and downed tree limbs with ease. The heated seats and auto climate control were also greatly appreciated. As was the steering wheel mounted controls for the built in driver information center and XM Satellite system. Although this is a new vehicle every system has worked well.
What a great truck!
What a great truck! Thi sthing is very comfortable for everyone in my family and has a ton of power. The 6.0L is a real monster that hauls and tows! The ride is fantastic as it's a 2500 and not a 2500HD...I test drove both but found the HD version to have a harsher ride. Interior is excellent with no problems and have found nothing wrong with the truck so far.
Silverado 2500
A pretty solid truck. The 4 door extended cab comes in handy for loading the kids or groceries. Not real happy with the gas mileage which is an average of 15 mpg. However the 6.0L vortec delivers tons of power when needed. With the towing pkg option you can almost forget you have a tailer behind you. No complaints with the 4X4 system in either mud or snow. The steering tire combination tends to grab and dip in a little on quick maneuvers or higher speed turns, but no doubt that also has to do with the large size of a 3/4 ton.
Good truck
The truck never fails to amaise me
Harsh Ride on some freeways/highways
ok, check this out. I like this truck, everything about it, except that it is VERY VERY bouncy when you have bad road. I put about 25,000 miles in about 5 months now, and I suggest you do some research before buying this 3/4 ton truck. It kinda feels like your holding onto a machine gun at times. It gets bad, but when it's good, it's good. But when you haul stuff, life is good (very smooth). I suggest the Propane powered option because of them gas prices now. You get about the same mileage, but you pay much less for propane (cheapest i've seen is $1.30) vs. $2.25 for gasoline.
time to buy a real truck not a silverado
This was at first a good truck at 67,000 miles when the transmission went out on me the dealer told me I need a new transmission this is not good for gm I just go back and forth to work. No towing no plowing so gm said they will not help do. Don't buy gm trucks
just ok
from day 1 chevy denied the steering bang/knocking in the steering box nothing to worry about. at 86900 miles Driver side exhaust manifold bolts broke off in head. I'm having oil pressure problems(25 psi), metal shaving on the oil drain plug, clogged oil filter. Idling a bit rough. low lifter noise. side door trim continues to turn yellow so I painted them all black. Stereo cd broke after 1 year.
Silverado 4x4 2500 HD ex cab
Absolutely the most dissapointing purchase of my life.It shakes badly between 70 and 80 mph. I don't tow heavy and don't off road it it has stock rims and tires and it's on it's third pinion bearing. I can't trust it to travel. And it dosn't even have 25K on it yet. My 99 RAM had 145K and I would trust it to this day anywhere anytime.
camper
top all around preformer
Fuel economy POOR
NIce looking truck, comfortable. POOR gas Mileage!
Solid truck
I've had the truck for three months and it has served me well. I like the styling and the ride. Optional larger tires would have been nice. The crew cab is very roomy and nice to have on longer trips. Milage seems to drop off a lot a higher speeds (60+ MPH).
Sweet Ride
I love it...you sit above most and the power of this machine really hits the spot.
2004 Silverado 2500 Duel Cab
Excellent handling while towing. Excellent acceleration and power. Smooth ride and a good stock sound system. Smooth shifting. Great towing features just hook and go.
the best truck for family man
I ABSOLUTLY LOVE THIS TRUCK,I CHOSE IT OVER A CORVETTE.IT IS SO CONVIENIENT AND PRACTICLE,I WISH THE FUEL MILAGE WAS BETTER IN CITY,AROUND 13 MPG
A Crew Cab for Work and Play
There is so much room with this crew cab. Looked at every true 4 door truck on the market and this one is tops in power, towing, comfort, resale, etc. The rear seat is both deeper and more comfortable than those in the Ford, Dodge, and Nissan (didn't even bother to look at Toyota with its smaller motor). The interior is not luxurious, but that's not why I bought the truck. Its very well put together and has acres of room for the low sticker price. Big Chevy rebates also helped me get the dealer to take $8300 off of list price. Not a single regret on this truck except that I didn't get one sooner.
2500 Crewcab
Never buy a vehicle from Koons in the VA, MD area. Horrible to deal with. However I do really like my truck and enjoy driving it. My biggest suggestion to Chevrolet would have to be for them to add rear A/C vents for the rear passangers. The next suggestion would be for them to put larger tires on the 2500 so they look more truck like instead of an overgrown car. Make it look like the Z71 ext cabs. There is to much open wheel well space.
Chevy Tough
Great truck motor need a little wakeing up but feels good. Front end should have heavy duty steering stabilizer on it. But all in all the best truck on the market. Big strong looks good and chevy tough.
'04 Chevy Crew Cab with Quadrasteer
This truck is great. It rides nice and has the power to pull. It is actually our family car. This truck is our answer to the Minivan. 2 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs. Plenty of room. The wife and the kids drive it more then me. The interior is great, and has more features then most new luxury cars today. My wife loves the fact that it has quadrasteer. She can park this 20' truck in spots tighter than most cars. It has a tighter turning radius than our S10 Blazer. The quadrasteer also give me great stability when towing a trailer. However, with the quadrasteer you can only get the 4.10 gear ratio, and that means low fuel economy. I wish they had the quadrasteer with a 3.73.
More motor!
Truck is comfortable, roomy and above average to drive. Power and mileage are awful! The 6.0L is terrible. My last truck had a 5.3. I thought the 6.0 would be better. Wrong. Chevy should junk this motor. All around 11 mpg. Towing 24' boat, 8 mpg. Either a diesel or a Titan is next.
2500HD Duramax: Solid Powerhouse!
I have owned this truck (2500HD w/ Duramax) almost one year and have loved it. Great power, solid truck, smooth ride(for a truck). Not sure why build quality is mentioned as an issue. I have not had any issues with mine. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.
Good truck but problems
Overall the truck has been good. But 5 injectors and drivers seat adjust mech (under warranty, but still truck is down) instrument panel cluster is a joke. Whole companies are devoted to rebuilding IPC on all makes. So once again truck is down while you get to pay $500 for a rebuilt defective IPC. (GM has announced they will pay for this but we have seen no money). OnStar was good for unlocking doors and diagnosing ground faults on several glow plugs. Once the "free" runs out it is easier to hide an extra key. OS's peace of mind comes at a cost. If you can afford an expensive truck then be prepared for expensive upkeep. It is a good and powerful work truck
