There is NOTHING like an American V8!
This is a driver's car. The motor is intoxicating - both in power and sound. It is the most performance for the money that one can buy at the moment. Unlike the muscle cars of a bygone era, the 2016 Camaro SS handles as well as it accelerates, which is high praise, indeed. The interior is comfortable and well-appointed. Plenty of legroom, but if you are tall, you may want to compare head room in one with the sunroof against one without. The power seats DO go up and down with the electric controls; taller people may need to make the seat low, and tilt the seatback to the rear a little. The controls fall easily to hand. Magnetic ride and the adjustable exhaust are the way to go. Change from soft(ish) suspension and a quiet exhaust (Touring mode) to a more throaty exhaust and stiffer damping at the touch of a button. Set the ride to meet your mood or the conditions. Much has been made of visibility out of the cockpit. While no one is going to give the car a "great" rating on rearward visibility, it is certainly adequate. [one year update: 10,000 miles later, this car remains BIG fun to drive. Nothing has gone wrong or broken on it. Still a big "thumbs up"]

Dont underestimate the AUTO V6
I was very hesitant in purchasing the new 2016 V6 Camaro and opted to go with essentially the base model because this is my fiancés and I's secondary car so we didn't need all the bells and whistles. I had been looking at the R/T Challenger which was about $10k more, and while it definitely sounded meaner, it was not worth it to me personally. The Camaro has been such a great purchase so far, I have gotten so many compliments on the new styling and the sound of the engine while driving. Its 0-60 in 5.9 seconds which to me is more than enough speed(335 HP). I will update in a year after I see if the quality of the car holds up. The visibility is definitely something I had to get used to (coming from our other car which is a '16 ford fusion that has pretty decent visibility) but I added blind spot mirrors and use the rearview camera often and I have gotten the hang of the visibility of the car. I am looking forward to taking this to California for family visits to see how it handles through the mountains. Also the car may seem small inside but I had a friend get in who was about 6'3 and he told me he was more than comfortable in the car so don't let the interior size put you off.

Fantastic
Since purchasing this car a month ago, I haven't stopped smiling. I ordered the vehicle in November and although I was discouraged by the 3 month+ wait time for the build, it was so worth it. The styling of this car is amazing, the quality in comparison to the gen5 cars is on an entirely different level. The 2SS is everything I could ask for, the 6.2L is incredible and doesn't stop pulling, can't wait for break-in period to be over....

This car is fun
I love being in this car...driving this car... everything about it is cool. I don't know how well it will hold up over the long run as it's a new car with a new design --even a new engine (corvette engine now in the camaro). Fingers crossed. The gas mileage isn't great, but with 455 hp, what could you expect. I'm averaging 23.5 mpg and getting about 420 miles on a tank of gas. Drove it from North Carolina to S. Florida and up and down the florida interstate every day since for work. It's a blast. I love the sound system too. The tech is a bit glitchy, but I'm figuring it out. Same as with any new iPhone or some such thing. Not particularly troubling.

Research GM's 8 speed before you buy one
This makes the 7th time my 2016 camaro with the 8 speed auto has been in the shop for transmission problems in 42000 miles . There is a very intense vibration when it shifts from 6th-7th-8th gear . The cylinder deactivation also causes vibration and many times a pause between shifting and cylinder deactivation followed by a catch and a thud or very hard shift . The dealer has reprogrammed 4 times and flushed the transmission 3 times each time the problem gets better it is not perfect but better then gradually starts getting worse and worse until I cant stand it and take it in again . After researching this problem online I have learned this is a very common problem in many GM vehicles (cars and trucks ) with the 8 speed auto which is probably why they are going to put the new 10 speed in the camaro next year . I have been very understanding but am fed up and have no choice but to get rid of the car before my warranty is up .

The 2016 Chevy Camaro 2SS 8 speed
When I first purchased this Camaro I really loved it, this is my 3rd Camaro, but after less than 18k miles I've had the Trans flushed 3 times and it's only getting worse by the day. I don't track the car nor do I abuse the car. The battery has also been replaced at 10k miles. The differential has been flushed 3 times as well. GM has dropped the ball with the 8 speed automatic transmission. Not only in the Camaro but in any GM automobile. I'm throughly disgusted in this car, I should have stuck with my 2010 Camaro 2SS 6 speed manual. It was a basic car as far as creature comforts but a hell of a lot better car mechanically. Buyer beware of the 8 speed auto. Oh and it's going back in for the 5th or 6th time for the shuddering due to the 8 speed automatic. If you are thinking of purchasing an 8 speed transmission, in any gm car or truck, I wouldn't. They're junk, and that pains me too say that.

A lot of bang for the buck but it is unreliable.
Great car that's fun to drive. Performance and options match or outperform that of European sports cars double the price. However the car is too unreliable to recommend.

Corvette lite
We have owned the car about a month and it is a very fast car, we also own the new Mustang 5.0 with the performance package and they are very different rides. The Camaro, while luxurious still feels ferocious, the Mustang is smoother and a little tame. The technology in the Camaro is way better than the Mustang, it seems GM look over the Mustang and made everything better.

My 2016 1/2 2SS Convertible
This was a special ordered 2-SS Convertible that wasn't even manufactured until April 2016 in Lansing. I have had a 1969 & 1973 Z-28 Camaro, 1971 & 74 'vette but this car with the magnetic ride, LT1 Corvette Engine in nothing but FUN to drive. This is the most responsive factory made car I have ever had the pleasure of driving. Regardless of speed form 27 to 127, when you ask it to move faster - it does without hesitation. Having the 4 handling settings allow you to tour down the road with an amazing 28.5 MPG at 65 MPH, or in Sport mode make on lookers snap their necks to see it. This model year did not offer either the Z-28 & ZL1 options so they really piled on the extras with the 2SS models. I waited for Chevy to put the new Convertible top on this model and it was well worth the wait. You can drive up to 35 MPH and easily open or close the top. After driving a 2015 and 2015 convertible, this is by every means superior top in every way, even noise. I dubbed this my retirement car, but never knew I would love driving near as much as I do and I only have 2,500 miles, can't wait to add more.

No A.C.
My car has spent, collectively, 2 weeks in the dealership because my A/C will not work. They have no idea what is wrong with it, GM has no idea what is wrong with it and it's still broken. Living in South Texas with a car whose A/C doesn't work is unacceptable. Amazing vehicle otherwise, but having no A/C in a 2016 Camaro with 19k miles on it is completely unacceptable. Will not be purchasing another GM product.

Sold My C6 Corvette to buy it and I LOVE IT
I had a manual 2008 C6 and was looking for a more comfortable daily driver. I have had it for almost 3 yrs/21k miles now. The diff went out at 10k miles and took two visits to convince them it needs a replacement. My brake rotors went out at 19k miles, and the car was shaking on brake at highway speed. I don't race it but I live in a hilly area and brake hard. They replaced the rotors on 4 corners. My long term reliability concern is the A8 transmission. It shifts so hard sometimes, and occasionally it gets confused about which gear it should be in at lower speeds. I love the car and would buy it again. The issues are expected for an early production car and I got into it knowingly.

I don't like driving anything else
Before you buy this car, know that you are not getting good gas mileage, know that you are not getting any passengers of any size in and out of the backseat easily, know that everything maintenance wise is potentially costly. With that out of the way I love my Camaro, I was semi prepared for all the drawbacks of owning this vehicle, but I would still buy it knowing all the drawbacks. I have a 6 speed manual, and it has GM's skip shift technology which makes you shift from 1st to 4th when you take off traveling less than 21 MPH (to save gas). I try to go faster than that because I don't like skip shift and there is no way (yet) to disable it. There is a blind spot due to the design of the car, but with the lane change assist in the side view mirrors and the backup camera that about makes up for it. This car moves when you hit the gas, it sounds mean and commands respek (yes I know I spelled that wrong). I feel like a whole different person while driving my Camaro, I become one with the car. I got an awesome deal when I bought it as it was the end of the month and only one 2016 left on the lot, they offered that one at 20% off. I jumped on that because I was only looking for a 1SS so I got the 2SS for less. I plan to keep this car forever, my 14 year old son is hoping he will be driving it in two years when he's old enough, I don't know we'll see, but yeah this is the best car purchase for me in my 43 years.

Awesome
I love this car. Mine is a 1LT with the LGX V6 auto. The engine is great! 335 HP from a small V6. My personal best is a 5.0 second 0-60 using the built-in performance timer. So much faster than my previous 3 series BMW, and handles almost as well at half the price. The V6 is the only engine choice that uses regular gas, and on my 150 mile per day mostly freeway commute, I consistently get over 30 mpg. It's my daily driver, and I have almost 20K miles on it. It drives like new, and has been very reliable. Some people complain about the visibility, but I haven't had any problems. The backup camera and mirrors help. The only negative thing about the visibility is that it's hard to see the edges. I'm not wild about Apple CarPlay, but that's not a reflection on the car. If I was picking options, I'd get the NPP Dual Mode Exhaust, but I bought my car off the lot at the end of the model year, so I couldn't do that. All in all, it's a wonderful car, and I'm keeping it forever. Um, unless I trade it on a new SS - but then I'd have to use premium gas...

Dont Buy This Car!
I've had 6 Chevrolets, including 2 trucks, 2 Tahoe's and 2 Camaro's. I owned the 2012 Camaro SS and didn't have any trouble with it at all. My 2016 is an entirely different matter. I've had serious problems with major systems. The car has been in the shop 6 times for different (and some same) issues for a total of 22 days, including warped brake rotors, broken exhaust bracket, infotainment system issues, rear axle issues (a metal shard fell out of the axle within 2k miles), "leather" seat issues (the driver seat is coming apart at the seam), the remote start only works about 1/2 the time. I truly want to love this car due to its look and engine performance - it's simply poorly constructed. I have GM looking into taking it back and, if they don't, I'll get an attorney involved for lemon laws.

A 'Race Horse' Car with Excellent Manners
The Camaro goes way beyond pony car - the 2SS package is a factory race car without a doubt! With Track and Competitive Driving Mode this truly is ready to hit the track, yet putt around town with the wife or take a cruise on the highway and one quickly notices this race car has some very fine manners indeed! The technology is astounding! Hop in and crank it up and your bluetooth automatically connects and starts playing music right where it left off. 6'7" guy sharing car with 5'2" wife? No worries! Camaro recognizes your key fob and the memory seats adjust right to where you want them! The instrument cluster is customizable on the fly and features some cool performance readings. The car drops in and out of V4 mode without notice - if you are not watching the indicator you never know it happens. Even with my wife's 3 mile drive to work it's pulling better MPG than the V6 mustang she had prior. The convertible top is convenient and quiet operating with only the press of a switch - no unhooking, snapping or zipping and you can even move the top while you're moving! The technology, performance, and comfort of this car are truly amazing!!! Now that we've had the Camaro for 6 months we have noticed a couple of things. On the downside, the front passenger seat does not recline enough for my wife to be comfortable taking a nap on a road trip. We have also discovered that the summer tires really are summer tires and not suitable AT ALL for snow and ice! This is a function of the tires and is to be expected. We have also found a couple of things when going thru the car wash - depressions in the body work under the trunk lid tend to collect soapy water. After the first maintenance I did pick up a little tire vibration at times yet I expect some of this from the low profile tires - overall the ride is still fantastic for a sports car or any car! Yet we see no leaks in the convertible top when going thru the car wash. The car has run a 50 mile average fuel economy of 31 mpg. And overall the car continues to impress as mentioned at the top of the article, we just seem to appreciate it more as time goes by!

Stealthy and Sturdy
December 2018 - 2 years into ownership and the car with scheduled maintence performed (i.e. oil changes - tire rotations - fluids and check-ups by dealer) runs great. Everything is great except the following - The original runflat performance Goodyear tires were good to start and good handlers but wore down extremely quick and were magnets for nails etc. (i.e. they did poorly to deflect road debris and required several replacements) I have hazard warranty but kind of a pain. Anyway they balded quickly with proper rotations and were replaced after 15 months and had gashes and metal shard in them after removal. They were replaced with Michelin Pilots 4 SS which while not a run flat do not attract the road debris, perform excellent, and are wearing much more slowly after 9 months and protect the rims much better. Other is the aluminum wheel paint is pretty average in its durability when cleaning off the expected performance brake pad debris is loosing its sheen and in removing some caked on spots has proven that the paint does not adhere well to the primer. Other is on the steering wheel near the bottom the shiny black coating is blistering (another paint adhesion issue). The leather wrap around the top seat pull slightly moves away from under the escutcheon every few months and needs to be reset. November 2016 - The 2SS is a fantastic build. The automatic with the paddle shifters is awesome. I can drive in any traffic with one hand. And no worries with the 8 speed - it responds instantly to the throttle while my left leg and and an arm lounge in freedom. The leather seats, dash and door trims are very comfortable and adjustable. Front leg and shoulder room is great. the sun roof is perfect and allows the perfect amount of light and openness to the compartment even when closed. The back seat space increases the comfort, air and openness of the interior compartment space, has acoustic advantages, and creates the extra needed storage available from the interior of the vehicle. This car responds to all of my inputs whether that be to and fro. This one is built at the Cadillac factory and there is not a loose bone on it. Caution though - While this car is built extremely well for driving and cornering at a range of all speeds you might be tempted to anger authorities. So be careful when you use the *Launch Control*. Perhaps Cape Canaveral would be an appropriate location.

Best Purchase ever
I freaking love my vehicle ! If you stay in the Davenport,IA area please go see Valerie at Mills Chevrolet. She is awesome!! Pros about this vehicle is that it's great on gas.I purchased a 2.0L 4 cylinder with turbo and that baby still packs a lot of power behind it. The sound system is great quality and the touch screen makes it easier to control the entertainment in the vehicle. Cons are the seats are very uncomfortable and there's no CD player but overall a great car!

The Good and the Bad
The car is fun to drive in spite of the problems. The differential was bad on all them from the factory. See here > https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=472935. The road noise is the worst of any vehicle I have ever driven. I doubt ANY sound deadening was installed at the factory. Probably carpet on bare metal. The stick is a night mare. 2nd gear sometimes is VERY difficult to find. The radio speakers suck. The car handling is scary in the rain. All over the road. The car is very pretty. I get lots of oooohs and ahhhhs from people that love it. Would I buy another one ? Probably not. But like I said it is fun to drive regardless. The interior plastic is soft and not durable. Scratches very easily. I beat most cars racing. Lost to one of the new Chargers. May have been my driving error.,

Get the V8!
I acquired about a camaro 2SS through email and Donna Lee from Chevy Phillips in lansing, il was there every step of the way. She was delight to work with when I got to the dealership and I couldn't ask for a better salesman. This is my second car purchase this year from Donna and she will always be my go to person. Always a pleasure. The V8 is the engine to get. the rumble from the car when you start it up will put a smile on your face. It drives effortless pass other vehicles. It lighter and hugs the road and the car is built solid and tight. I am never the person to worry about a backseat in a sport car. If I'm driving I'm not worry about who in back seat they need to get there own if they can't fit :)

Maybe a lemon
Not sure if I got a lemon but I bought this car used with less than 3k miles on it. Now I have less than 6k and have torque converter issues, differential issues, loud noise coming from heater fan, some ocasional surging and clunking in shifting(auto) Si far not too pleased. The car is fast and looks ok but that's about it

Best Car I've ever owned, bar none
The complaint about rear visibility is true. As far as any enthusiast is concerned, it doesn't matter. Using mirrors and backup camera is essential and you will figure it out. The Gen 6 Camaro SS is the new Z51Corvette, it's that good. This car is so much fun and has so much power for a stock sports car(It's no longer a muscle car), it should probably be illegal. I would highly recommend a very good radar detector. I now have 12,000 miles on mine because I love to drive it. It's not my daily driver, so I can hardly wait for the weekend. Everyone, and I mean everyone who sees it or hears it loves the car. The only things I don't like about the car is the decals used for the stripes and the need for a clear bra everywhere on the car. I originally wanted the 2016 Mustang GT350R. With dealers jacking up prices and requiring people to bid on these cars, I couldn't find one for less than $90,000. You can buy 2 Camaro SS for that money. Dollar for dollar you can't find better. I have not experienced any problems with the car. There was 1 recall for a transmission cooler line. Mine has the 8 speed paddle auto and it is very accurate shifting. The 9 speaker Bose stereo is excellent. My wife loves the car too.

6000 miles and 12 trips to the dealership later...
First off before the fanboi's go on the attack, yes, I understand it's a first year car. But it's not the fist time GM has bought or built seats, headliners, transmissions etc. Can't blame "first year car" on seats that were falling apart after 2k miles. Also my car was held up for 2 months in QC to ensure when my car arrived it would be semi problem free. Notice I didn't set the bar dramatically high using "semi problem free" I didn't expect a perfect car as no car is perfect but in the first 6k miles both seats have failed in some way from the motor, cooling/heating mech, latches etc. The A8 trans has been a nightmare with constant overheating issues even when driving in 34-55 mph areas with low to medium traffic density, even during break in. The audio and navigation system has been nothing but problems even after it has received a reflash twice. Also I think they had someone that was under 5'5 designing dash layout. Who thought it was a great idea to tilt the screen so far downward it causes the driver to crane their neck over and down to see the screen? The exhaust system rattles like it was from a mid 90's civic, even after being replaced. The idiotic run flats they fitted the car with are ridiculously loud and if I had any thought of keeping the car I'd swap them out in a heartbeat. There there were issues like the hood not aligning properly and being told their dealerships BODY SHOP had to remove the front of the car to fix it correctly as well as the rear end sounds like it will fail at any moment even after the fluid has been changed in it twice. Still waiting for someone from GM to look at that to authorize a replacement rear end fix. The seat materials for a 50k car are awful, the headliner has sagged and been replaced. The interior rattles multiply weekly and I've given up on trying to track them all down as the dealership's tech's have made more appear than fix the existing one's. Yes it's got 420 hp (sorry, I don't over estimate like car companies) and a new body style mimicking some of the lines of the new vette but it's the build quality that kills this car. In 5 years this camaro will be no better than the mid 90's trash GM produced. Didn't they receive bailout money to save their company and not build crap like this? I was so tempted to purchase the car but at the last moment changed to a lease and I am so glad I did. Cars you should own m3, m4, mercedes amg's, porsche etc. Car's you should lease American produced junk like this. It's great they moved production back to the US but I would have thought American workers would should their thanks by putting pride into their work and building a quality product. And by all means don't take my word for it. Google issues for the gen 6 camaro, look up pages of issues people are having. People are getting entire motors replaced at 1000 miles, people are getting cars replaced because they weren't painted correctly and people like myself with a two page list of issues just get the run around. It's sad because I wanted to like this car and it was my first time back in an American built car in 8 years but with all the issues I will be opting to end my lease early and just take the hit to get out of it. I would rather pay for a car that is worth the monthly payment rather than pay for a camaro that has mediocre reliability and quality.

More rifinement needed
I bought a new 2016 Camaro with the I4 turbo engine. Great power for a 4 cyl. Only problem I have is the constant cluck in front end driving over cracks in the road. GM needs to refine this. Sounds like a cheap import. Test drove a mustang and they don't have that noise in their suspension.

Camaro is fantastic ride
It is a great car but make sure you get the rear view and lane alarm systems. The windows are small and vision is limited due to the windows. The car makes you feel like you are driving a fighter jet. The Apple Play and nav system are great. The displays are awesome and you can customize them. I got the RS package and the 8 speed automatic. I have had it for a week and I am really enjoying it. This is my first Chevrolet purchase. It's a good car. Some minor issues

Chevy got it right
I bought a 2LT conv with 3.6 V6. I can't review the 4 cylinder or the V8. Took car to Phoenix Az with 80 miles on clock. 4900 mile round trip. averaged 27.3 mpg at average speed of 69 mph. that includes about 300 miles of city driving, stop and go and cruising at from 75 mph to 90 mph. Averaged over 30 mpg in mountains of Az and N Mexico. Very comfortable for 12 hour driving days. Preferred it to my Mercedes CLS63 or Audi A5 for the trip. One year and a half later, 1 recall on covertible top mechanism, took 30 minutes and zero problems. This one is a Keeper.

I call mine "Quick Siver"
OK, bought my 2016 (Black over) silver RS convertible in Nov 2017 (considered new) and currently have just 9000 miles on it. The "facetted" body lines are outstanding and I chose to enhance them with graphics. I added a large single wide black "carbon fiber" hood decal, trimmed in red pin striping (original design - aftermarket applied). Followed contour lines on hood, then picked-up behind back seat (hard top cover) to trunk lid. Added black RS decals to lower door. Blacked in rear license plate surround and portions of front fascia, under the headlights. Finally, I added two sets of right triangular shaped "inflow accents" (think jet fighter inlets) on both front and rear bumpers. I get compliments everywhere I go. I have owned corvettes in the past and some of the same technologies have been incorporated into this vehicle (run flat tires, lap timer, digital speedo, killer race-bred seats etc). It seems actually quicker than the vettes (0 - 45 seems instantaneous) and the Cadillac alpha frame and cross member supports have effectively stiffened this vehicle to provide excellent road feel and handling. I truly enjoy the three separate shifting methods as well as the handling choices. Both the inside and outside lighting options enhance this vehicle to an elite level appearance. The interior materials and design is outstanding and Bose System is killer. I added small convex mirrors to the outside mirrors to offset the vision issues I encounter on the very busy roads in greater Hampton Roads VA. I got a great deal on it and marvel everyday at my decision and outcome. It is my retirement car and I love it!

2016 Camaro 2SS
This car is a perfect design. The engine superb. I read articles where they say it is average in performance and handling, I say you really don't know how to drive. Period. I didn't buy it to haul kids or go grocery shopping. This car is built for the highway and winding roads through the Blue Ridge mountains in NC. I do take it grocery shopping too :) It is an easy daily driver. I'm 6' 1" 225 lbs and I am totally comfortable. If you're not get a mini van.

Hard to believe it is a V6
Considering it has the 3.6L V6, performance is pretty awesome. Then the gas mileage is hard to believe. First year owning it, we drove it from Columbus, Ohio to Detroit, Michigan for the annual Woodward Dream Cruise. I was averaging about 35mpg at speeds between 70 to 95 mph. For that long of a drive(4hrs straight) was not too sore from sitting or anything like that. I was able to fit a full size suitcase, medium sized one, car detail kit and a few smaller tote bags in the trunk.

Best car I ever had!
One word, confidence. This car inspires confidence when you drive, even pushing it to the limit. I am by no means a race car driver, just like to have fun and boy does this car deliver. I compared it to a mustang, no comparison. 2016 and above Camaro is the way to go. I have the V6 and it's plenty of power. There is a supercharger available that will up the HP to the same as a base V8 if you want. Or get the V8. Can't go wrong there. There stereo is fantastic for stock. This thing handles like a dream! I have this listed a 4 cylinder because stupid Edmunds doesnt'' give me the option of V6. Nice website programming guys!

My first Camaro!
It takes a little getting used to it first, but this car is truly amazing. The exterior is fantastic, It has plenty of power and it’s fun to drive. It’s a sports car, not as roomy as a sedan. It has a decent size trunk and I like the adjustable ride feature.

Worth every penny
I've always been a camaro guy, I've had several from all 6 generations, except the 5th gen car. I was considering buying a 2015 SS camaro but im glad I waited, because the 2016 I bought has not only been the best most dependable car ever but with the 2SS option, it's everything I could want and more. The 2016 is the only Camaro I've not hd the urge to do engine mods on, because it already has more power than I can use, and handles insane. Yes it's rear seats are cramped, and visibility could be better, but it's such an exciting and fun car to drive, I don't care. For the price I paid, I feel like I got so much more car than anything else on the road. Too bad it's no longer going to be built, but it has definitely gone out on a high note. I'm glad to have been able to get one before they did.
