...whenever I drive this car. I’ve been a long time Bimmer owner and this model gives me the same “Ultimate Drive” joy similar to when I had the 2003 E46 325i car. It drives crisply, handles well through the curves and actually rides smoother and quieter than the E46. The driver's and passenger's seats are comfortable and supportive with multiple adjustments available including adjustable lumbar support. The rear seats, on the other hand, are basically for shorter drives or individuals shorter than 5½ feet, but since this is my daily drive car, that has not been an issue. The rear seats do fold down providing ample space for carrying more luggage or larger items, provided there’s only two in the car. But, really, the best thing about this car is it brings back that Ultimate Drive euphoria, something BMW has drifted from recently.

This is an awesome car. I wasn’t considering a BMW or a coupe or a two door or a rear wheel drive. But I researched it, test drove it, compared it, test drove it again with a 6-speed and fell in love with BMW all over again!

ELEGANT ROAD BEAST

KFORD, 03/20/2020

2020 BMW 2 Series M240i 2dr Convertible (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 8A)

Okay, our 4th back to back BMW designed on-line (highly recommend it!). We’ve experienced the 128i, the X5 (still own), the i3 and now the 2020 M240i convertible. I’m 100% a tech geek and the math/engineering behind BMW’s (or any car) matters. My beautiful wife appreciates the style and the power. After studying countless video’s and data across a range of luxury coupes we have NO REGRET in picking (and stuffing it with options) the M240i convertible. I must admit, I really wanted Heads Up Display (HUD) and Blind Spot Indicating System (BLIS) which are not offered as options but the truth is the fun we have in the cockpit easily compensates (e.g. too busy driving and having fun for HUD or BLIS to be missed) and rarely can any vehicle not be detected with the large side view mirrors along with the small, nimble and JET PROPELLED platform. It’s not hard to say the M240i convertible is an ELEGANT ROAD BEAST (0-60 in 4.4) and is one of the best handling small coupes you can buy, certainly at our budget we set of 60K (which we maxed with taxes, fees, and some optional ding/dent coverages). Are the options worth it? HELL TO THE YES! Every last one! Why buy a baseline BMW??? If you get one - GET A GOOD ONE and enjoy life. I’m a military vet, disabled/beat-up and with all the time spent behind the wheel, I want to feel special and be in an environment where I can separate from the chaos, listen to fuel based engine noise perfected by science/math and get the right response when I press on the gas. No, the interior is not a Bentley but the M240i is 100% fun and when others are breaking into a turn I’m accelerating through it in complete confidence. And, though I never want to be on Live PD I must admit keeping this perfectly balanced smile-maker under 100 mph is NOT easy, especially with the top down and an “M badge” on my ass. LOVE THE M240i!

I bought my 2018 230i after having a 2012 Turbo Beetle; they’re both small and have 4 cylinder engines. I live this car so much!! It’s peppy, tech forward and has a decent sized back seat (large enough for people to actually sit back there, unlike the beetle). The led headlights are absolutely beautiful and are very bright! The car is responsive and the different driving modes are fun. Sport Plus will knock you back in your seat a little bit and with eco pro you can get almost 40mpg on the freeway.

Perfect blend of luxury practicality and sportines

If you are looking for a powerful rear wheel drive sports coupe with a manual transmission and room for a weeks worth of luggage for two, look no further. If you want more, just add the optional limited slip differential and you have a track worthy racer. Same engine as the new Toyota Supra, but with more refined looks, a back seat, more headroom, and a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. Porsche Cayman? Absolutely no trunk space and you need the more costly S version for adequate power. The BMW M240I is without a doubt the best car i have ever owned (64 GTO, Mazda RX7, 2 Preludes, and a 2004 Infiniti G35 6MT). Buy it now!

Amazing blend of comfort and sport. Very fast. But smooth. Fantastic seats. Handling is impeccable. And it comes without the dreaded run-flats. My only peeve is the electric steering. Although not entirely horrible, drive a BMW 135 MSport, with the old hydraulic steering, and you will wonder what the heck BMW was thinking with this crappy electronic steering. BMW should keep the hydraulic steering, or at least give it a bit of road feel like Mazda and Porsche do. But this is a rather minor twit. The car, literally, is simply fantastic. This is my 12th BMW, and the best one yet. My wife drives a 2019 X3M40i with essentially the same engine, but the M240i is far superior. It has a drastically better ride, handles better, and is simply more fun. Oh, another small twit, BMW changed the Harman Kardon stereo. I had a 2016 M235i convertible with the HK, and it had the Logic 7 sound effect. My 2020 M240 has the HK upgrade, but it no longer has the Logic 7. Some research reveals that BMW uses 3 different levels of sound systems, a base system, a mid-level system, and their top of the line system. The HK with Logic 7 is the top of the line, which used to go in the top of the line 2 series cars, but now they have switched to the mid-level. It is an okay system, but listen to one with the logic 7 and you can definitely hear the difference.

I love the car. Perfect size for a personal car, handles really well, good power (230i M Sport). This is my third one or two series car. I do not, however, like the intrusiveness of the electronics; throwing the car into park while its moving if a door is open, inability to modify warning tone volumes beyond a very small range, parking warning that doesn't go off when approaching a high curb so you might hit it, but goes off when you turn the car back on and back up to leave, and more. I would also prefer to give up some trunk space for a space saver spare tire rather than run-flats.

I got this car to replace a 2009 335i coupe. I really liked the 335 but I promised it to a family member. The 335 was costly to maintain and in my review of that car, I joked about leasing to always have the service contract in place. I thought about it more and more and that is why I leased this one. I have been really happy with this choice. -First, it is strikingly fast, even though it is one of the least costly BMWs overall. BMW's own stats say 4.4 secs to 60mph. It is aggressively quick off the line and I have not even floored it yet since it is the break-in period. Despite relatively aggressive accelerating, the onboard mileage meter shows 23 mpg. The 335 was not nearly as quick and usually gave about 19 mpg. -Second, It handles very well and my testing spots are the 270 degree turn on-ramps for local freeways. Sharp turns feel great at normal speeds. -Looks wise, from the pictures I was indifferent about its appearance. I neither liked it nor hated it. (I decided to get it due to the reviews about it being a great handling car, not for its looks) In person however, I really like it, especially in Black Sapphire. -One feature I have enjoyed is the choice of comfort or sport mode. I have had several cars that have a sport button that basically don't do anything perceptible. The 335 had a sport mode that keeps the gears one notch lower, keeping the turbo in play. In comfort mode, it feels like a luxury cruiser and not harsh at all. BUT, This car's sport mode changes the whole character of the car and I'm pretty sure it is not my imagination. It keeps the gear lower allowing better acceleration, but I am certain the suspension is stiffer, which I tested going over center bumps and a number of potholes in our area. And, the steering takes more effort, which also returns the wheel to center with more force when you let go of the wheel. -The sound of the engine is very good. It is quiet at low throttle, but is sounds very deep approaching 4000 rpm. (However I'm not sure how much is piped in by the stereo system, a common practice for many makers.). -The electronics are ok, but to be fair, I have not played much with them. I am concentrating on the driving, and I am very happy about driving this car. It almost makes me look forward to going to work, and believe me, this is saying something about how good it is. -This is pretty early in the ownership of the vehicle and I will report more later if anything changes.

Sporty, easy and fun to drive. Comfort galore and all the bells and whistles equal every option you could have. I would recommend this car to everyone

This car should remind you of the iconic BMW Model 2002. It has the look, stance and feel with all the modern safety and technology. I couldnt be happier- BMW luxury at a low entry cost, with all the sport you would want-with rear wheel drive! Shop around as you should be able to buy this car in the low to mid thirties. The A3 Quattro woukd be the only reasonable competition for this car.

My first car was a '72 Z-28, Mazda Rx7, another Z-28, a Trans Am, and this is my third BMW. What a ride this is! Definitely beats them all. Had a 2016 M235i and this one is way better. Its the perfect size, handles amazingly well EVEN IN SNOWY WEATHER because of the all wheel drive, and accelerates like a rocket. Plus all the BMW electronic goodies, which are getting better and better. Hate to say it, but it makes my old Z-28 look like something from the dark ages. That was like driving a lumbering tank compared to this nimble little beast!

Jan 2022 Update: I've had my M240i for a bit over a year. I've put about 5K miles since my initial review. No issues at all. I bought my M240i coupe as certified pre-owned. I've put about 1K miles on it so far and couldn't be happier with my decision. It's an excellent highway cruiser and so much fun to drive on twisty roads. Impressive and smooth acceleration. The 8 speed automatic transmission is outstanding. The adaptive suspension lets you select the appropriate drive mode for your route and mood. Seems like a great value for what you get, especially as a CPO.

We bought the 2019 BMW M240I to replace a 2004 Buick Regal (still was running great). Obviously, it was like night and day. The car handles great and has great acceleration. The seats, sun roof and entertainment system are all top notch. The only downsides are that the car with the options that we bought doesn't automatically apply the brakes when needed (you do get a warning light) and less than generous drink holders (large water bottles are out.). After 6 years of owning the car, we still have had no problems . However, even routine maintenance is pricey. But that is to be expected with a BMW M240I.

I love this car. Ordered mine with a manual transmission. It is fun to drive on 2 lane roads in the country and booting around town. The acceleration and handling are great. Can only put adults in the back seat for the shortest of trips. This is a fun driving car and perfect for the driving enthusiast. Unfortunately my wife (X5 driver) finds the ride too rough and will not go on trips greater than 10km from home. I took it (solo) on a recent 1000km trip visiting friends in the country and it was a fantastic experience. I store the car in the winter (it snows here) as it would not be a practical winter car. Update 1 year later: still in love, plan to keep this car forever.

The vehicle it self is awesome. I feel like a have a new toy. I can feel the G-Force of the vehicle everytime I hit the gas pedal. Only drawback to that is that I have to been on the look out the MAN! I do have one concern. I do not the USB location. The USB should be where the cigarette lighter is located. But than I don't smoke so what do I no. KUDOS to the internet manger at BMWOFAUSTIN. He was a great help in the vehicle purchase.

Almost at 80,000 miles and need $5,000 to fix jammed camshaft. Models 2017 and 2018 have a recall for the same problem.
