This car has been a NIGHTMARE!
We’ve had this car for almost a year and in November of last year we had the dreaded gateway control unit failure that has since been recalled. I would’ve really appreciated if they could’ve told us about it before our car was sitting basically brain dead on the side of the road on a cold, snowy Minnesota night. That terrifying experience aside, the car has been an unreliable piece of junk. Multiple trips to the dealership to reset the cpu because the screen crashes, the SiriusXM membership “updates” several times during the morning commute for some unknown reason, last week the steering wheel needed to be replaced because the sensors were malfunctioning(who knew that was a thing?), and this afternoon we got a warning sensor that the left tail light was malfunctioning when it clearly wasn’t. Seriously, the dumbest smart car I could ever imagine. Will never buy an Audi again.

Problem after problem
First and last Audi we will own. Has had an infotainment issue since purchase. There is clearly a problem with one of the modules (there apparently are 8 modules) and Audi can't figure out which one is the issue. We have asked that they replace all 8 and they have declined. Have replaced the high pressure fuel pump and repaired 2 oil leaks. As soon as the 3 year warranty expires this car is g-o-n-e!

Danger! Danger! A wet gateway could kill you...
OMG! On Wednesday, August 4, 2021, while driving, my 2021 Audi q5 with 1400 miles, it went into complete malfunction mode; every light and warning began flashing on the dashboard. I am thankful I was able to steer the q5 off the road. I was going about 30-40 mph. 2. Fast forward, next day, I had the q5 towed to Audi. I was told I will be called with an update. I didn’t receive a call from Audi, so I called. 3. On this call, I was told that the gateway got wet and the cost for the part is $1200. It will take 2 weeks to get the part in. The dealership has no openings until October. Huh? 4. They told me that the water drains are working and that they found a water bottle cap in the backSeat of the car; therefore, the gateway will not be covered under warranty. Huh? 5. I am unsure why the warranty will not cover any issues on a 4 month old car. 6. The dealership is assuming there was a water spill, because there was a water bottle cap in the car. 7. What are you talking about, Audi? Why are you assuming things? What is the real cause of this traumatic experience? Secondly, no one told me not to have a water bottle cap in the q5 backseat area. 8. Overall, I loved my q5, however, why is Audi not acting in good faith, why are there assumptions made? I recommend Audi recall these cars and announce a public safety warning of the fatal danger that is lurking in the back seat called a gateway. 9. Audi needs to clearly state “Danger! Danger! No water bottle caps allowed in backseat”. 10. Also, not to mention, there were no Audi loaner cars available; this gives off the appearance that Audi is making a lot of repairs and they are aware of this $1200 water bottle cap problem called a gateway. 11. I will Prob trade in the q5 once repaired. 12. I am aware my experience is possibly rare, due to the many q5s on the road. However, this was a true experience I had & I don’t ever want this to happen again to me or no one!! 13. Audi these q5s are dangerous; please recall the q5 and place the gateway in a more safe space where water bottle caps cannot reach it. 14. Thanks for reading, sorry for extra long post.

Do not buy!
Bought my brand new q5 9/30/2022 and the engine blew up 11/4/2022. It had 4000miles on it and I haven’t even made the first payment. I have had many Audi’s before and this is the worst one so far.

Great SUV
I am in love with my new Q5, purchased from Audi Owings Mills, MD. I looked at several other similar SUVs (different brands), and a fully-loaded 'other brand' vehicle did not even come close to my Q5 - which is only a Premium (base) model. The ride is smooth, quiet, and it handles the road so well. It is a luxurious car. I cannot say enough about my new Q5. I highly recommend it!
