Great car
Smooth ride and nice appointments.
Are you driving a car or playing a video game?
Drove this car for 180 miles while my A4 was being serviced. Pros: Outstanding power, great grip, smooth engine, very quiet inside, great sound system. Cons: Even in comfort setting it’s a Princess and the Pee situation with the 20 inch tires - you can feel every pebble on the road. Yet while this might suggest the car is set up for folks with sporting ambitions, the steering doesn’t provide any feedback and is totally numb. Seems the car can’t decide whether to coddle or race. Also for there is constantly the question who is actually driving the car - the driver or some computer that constantly advises on speed limits, makes course corrections and what not. It’s an eerie feeling, and you never know who is in charge. I personally also don’t like the dual screen interface at all. It’s very non intuitive to use. The windows were fogged up one morning, but I couldn’t figure out how to defog them. Even simple tasks require multiple steps through the touch screens. The touch screens are difficult and dangerous to use while driving and can blind you when you drive with an open sun roof and the sun comes from a certain angle. I very much prefer to way more intuitive set up in the base A4... Overall: The car is a technical tour de force. This might delight techies, but sometimes less is more and you never know whether the car’s computer or you are driving the car. If you are in the market for a $78k car, LOVE playing video games and are into virtual reality, this may be your machine. Personally, I find the Mercedes E450 more appealing at this price point. The E450 is more comfortable but still handles remarkably well, and it much more closely resembles a regular car.

OK
Vehicle is good looking. Electronics are good, don't like touch screen, prefer buttons and dial's. Acceleration is good from a dead stop, but bad turbo lag, especially from 30 to 50 mph. To me supercharger was more responsive than turbo charger. Have vehicle with 20" tires, poor ride, noisy and alot of vibrations. I use comfort mode and still not that great. Seat's hard and not that comfortable. Would not repurchase this vehicle. Had noise, rattle from day of purchase. Finally so annoying, brought car back to dealership. Noise coming from moon roof. Repair could go from replacing felt around moon roof to having to take out front and rear windows, remove headliner, take out moon roof and reset roof beams that hold moon roof in place. This is a premium vehicle? Third and last audi. If your thing of buying this vehicle, you better give it a good test drive over a bumpy road. Will update review after repairs done. Repairs was to replace felt, vehicle much quieter, will see how long that lasts. Had to press garage door icon 5 times before garage door opened. After one year got rid of vehicle. Purchased different brand, with dials, buttons and touch screen. More solid, bigger engine, Quieter and much quicker. Dumped car after 1 year, bought BMW M550i.

I’m trying to love my A6
Have had my Audi A6 for 10 months. I’ve only put 2500 km on it. First disappointment is the number of recall notices I have received. Driving the car was fun except for the clunking noises from the rear end which turned out to be the rear jounce bumpers, yes on vehicle that had only 2200 km on it at the time. Now after a completed recall on the fuel tank vent, I did not have accurate fuel readings. So back into the shop, turns out it needs a new fuel tank which is going to take 3 weeks to get here (I hope). I’m at a crossroads with this vehicle. I have very little confidence in its reliability and am seriously considering trading it in for something other than an Audi. This would be sad as I really liked the car.

Okay but the dual touchscreens are a step backward
The biggest positives are that the car is very quiet and rides well with comfortable front seats as expected in a luxury car. It is a smooth and relaxing drive. The styling is also classy. I think Audi really missed in moving to dual touchscreens and moving things like heated seat controls and temperature controls to the screens. Compared to my A5 or previous Audis, the interior is a step backwards. I say that because the dual touchscreen is inferior to the button and dial controls Audi used to use in both feel and function. The touchscreens get unsightly quickly with all the finger prints and the feeling of the haptic feedback on the touchscreens pales in comparison to the satisfying clicks of actual buttons and knobs. You also have to take your eyes off the road to do simple things like adjust temperature or put on a heated seat that you easily could do by feel with a temperature knob or hard button. I think Audi also uses too much gloss black and shiny silver trim in high touch places. Combine that with the dual touchscreens and the car looks dirty really easily. The wood trim is really nice as is the stitching though there is a surprising amount of hard plastic. For instance on the seatback. Trunk space is fine. It isn’t that tall of a trunk but is deep and well-shaped. Cubic foot wise it is smaller than some competitors but real world it is fine. I do really like the 360 parking cameras and the Audi virtual cockpit is really good. Real leg room is good in the outboard positions but the hump is big and the middle seat isn’t great because of that. You really wouldn’t want to try to cram three adults back there because of that. Something like a Lexus ES (or even an Accord!) has a more usable back seat for three. The powertrain is a mixed bag. Turbo lag isn’t too bad (though noticeable sometimes) and the midrange torque is good. The transmission is top notch. In cruising the engine is quiet but rev it and the four sounds like it could be out of a Corolla or Jetta. Not very luxurious or smooth sounding. Our 2022 Acura MDX cost about the same amount and the 6 in it feels and sounds much nicer. Same with previous cars with 6 cylinder engines. The handling of the car is solid though it really isn’t a car that encourages you to want to tear around corners. Frankly either our 2018 A5 or the MDX feels more fun and eager and encourages more throwing them into corners. The A6 can do that but clearly is a car best for cruising. Maybe the 6 would really change the feel.

A6 V6 Clunking While Stopping
I have a 2020 A6 V6 with 600 miles. When it comes to a stop, about 60% of the time it makes a loud clunking noise. Dealer says it’s the clutch and it’s normal. It’s very distracting and shouldn’t be happening on a car of this caliber.

Seamless power at all speeds- Lots of bells and whistles- would prefer manual switches and dials for any function performed while driving.
