2019 Aston Martin Rapide AMR Review

2019 is the last year for the V12-powered Aston Martin Rapide. To help it ride out into the sunset, Aston Martin is offering it in a new high-performance AMR trim. The Rapide AMR — short for Aston Martin Racing — is limited to just 210 units and comes with a little more power, a retuned transmission and a 10-millimeter lower ride height. 

The Rapide AMR is Aston Martin's only sedan, though the new DBX SUV is a fine alternative if you want British performance in a practical package. And while the Rapide can be a hoot to drive, its cramped back seat and small cargo area make it one of the least usable sedans on the market. Nor can it fully match the performance capability of some competitors.

Still, only a few cars on the market come close to matching its price or performance. The Bentley Flying Spur offers a 12-cylinder engine and an even more luxurious interior, but it's not as nimble around turns as the Aston Martin. The BMW M760i and the Porsche Panamera Turbo undercut the Rapide on price and offer even more performance, but neither is as special as this Aston Martin.
