Volvo C70 Convertible Top Problems

  • Melita.

Written by: melita on May 10, 2013 4:13:44 AM

I just purchased a 2003 C70 Volvo convertible auto. she has now developed an intermittent fault. I stop and park, and then she won't start again. I have to wait, usually she will then start. But the other day I had to get AA out. They tested all the usual stuff, Petrol pump etc. But she just wouldn't start. Next morning, hopped in and she started first time. The local garage ... • front end noise

Written by: scarveles on Jun 25, 2008 9:58:50 AM

I am a new 2003 C70 owner and find that when I make any kind of a sharp turn -- lets say backing out of a parking space and cutting hard -- either left or right, there is this terrible noise like the entire front end is going to drop out. I have returned it to the dealer (used car dealer not Volvo) who says its just needed to be "greased". ... Read More

Volvo C70 - Options Chosen or Rejected

  • 2003 HPT options

Written by: timcolo on Aug 1, 2007 6:11:57 PM

I have just bought a 2oo3 hpt and was wondering about a couple of things. 1. Can I purchase a wood grain steering wheel to match the gear shift....and if so, any idea on where and how much it would cost? 2. I'd like to know if the windscreen is a valuable option and how it gets set up and stored. Any ideas on where to buy one and what the ... Read More

Volvo C70 Convertible - 2006 and Newer

  • Re: Swedish cars [blamb3]

Written by: flheat on May 13, 2006 6:38:13 AM

Blamb3, I think you hit the nail on the head for me. When I put my deposit down on the C70, I was expecting the performance of at least my 3 year old 2003 Audi A4 1.8T Cabriolet in Volvo Clothing, and that did not happen. If Volvo wants part of this niche market, it has to be able to run with the boys. There is no reason it should not ... Read More

Biancar, I read your original message about buying the 350Z when my Volvo dealer was letting me know that the original arrival date for my C70 was delayed another couple of weeks. I went to look at the 350Z convertible and just couldn't see myself in the ragtop and I had trouble getting in and out of the coupe. Your suggestion did lead me to the Infiniti G35 Coupe, thanks. As ... Read More

  • Less than impressed.

I just got back from my test drive of the generic silver demo and found myself less than impressed. I currently have a 2003 Audi A4 cabriolet and made the following comparisons: Pro Volvo-comfortable seats, smooth lines, awesome dynaudio, the cornering was better than I expected (not as good as my Audi) um, that's it. Cons: lazy engine with turbo lag (keep in mind I am used to my 3 year ... Read More

cdk2....my local dealer claimed to have several allocated slots for a custom car. You could only get certain colors with each slot. I chose the earliest delivery of June 14th and the Magic Blue. The silver was available in late July and I didn't want to wait as my 2003 SAAB convertible was coming off a smart-buy on May 31. Based on your rants...or posts, I will check with my dealer ... I currently drive a 2003 SAAB 93 convertible that has 200hp with a turbo charged engine. The SAAB turbo has plenty of throw back in your seat kick with the turbo. I hope that the Volvo C70 will be at least as enjoyable to drive from a performance standpoint. I'm not getting that feeling from the reviews. I've never heard a favorable professional review of the Saab convertible.

biancar: Thanks so much for your thorough explanation. I'll keep this in mind for when I have more time, hopefully in retirement, to consider placing an overseas order. In the meantime I ordered the C70 in magic blue with cream leather interior on 3/4 with an expected delivery on 6/14. My order is subject to an acceptable test drive that I expect latter this month. I currently drive a 2003 SAAB ... Read More

I saw from your original message that you were going to trade in a 2003 SAAB convertible. You said that the dealer was giving you a $1,000 discount on the new Volvo C70. Congrats, because I couldn't budge the Volvo dealer a bit. I am also sort of trading in a 2003 SAAB convertible with under 15K mileage. How was the trade in value on your SAAB? Did he beat you ... • Re: Saab 9 - 3 versus Volvoc70

    Written by: blamb3 on Feb 9, 2006 7:08:53 PM

I ordered a Volvo C70 in December, they are saying delivery in March, seems early from what I've been reading. List $43,500 discounted $1,000.00. Flint grey, upgraded dynaudio, heated seats, light grey (granite) leather, 6 speed. Trading in 2003 Saab 9-3 convertible (not the new body style). Saab does not compare well with Volvo and the depreciation on Saabs makes them a poor purchase. There are now 8 or 9 road tests ... Read More

Hi Eli: For reference, I have a 2000 C70 HT coupe. Gas: Stick with the high octane. With an 18.5 gallon tank you're talking an extra $1.85/$3.70 per fill up on the difference on the other octanes. I commute 25 miles into Chicago every week and only have to fill up twice every three weeks. For me that comes out to about an extra $128 per year (probably more like an ... Read More

Searching for service coupons I noticed a local Volvo dealer's website where they promote the various Volvo products. For the 2003 C70 they describe it as follows: "But while the similarly named V70 wagon was redesigned two years ago (and moved to the larger, more luxurious S80 platform), the C70 continues to ride on the 10-year-old previous-generation S70/V70 platform while waiting for a complete makeover. Of course, older underpinnings don't make ... Read More

Just looking through edmunds own overviews - New for 1999: This year, buyers of both coupe and convertible models will enjoy standard interior enhancements that include a leather steering wheel, redesigned interior light switches, 130-mph speed limiter, front fender turn indicators and red walnut dash trim in place of last year's black wood. A new 17-inch alloy wheel option is available in 1999 for both coupes and convertibles. The coupe also ... Read More
