2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5i AWD 4dr Wagon (2.5L 4cyl 5M)

This car is a real sleeper--its stylish yet conservative looks don't reveal the sporting performance unleashed behind the wheel. As a wagon, it's incredibly utilitarian and practical, tons of fun, very comfortable and a great value compared to other AWD wagons priced similarly and higher. Subaru finally has a car which can compete on many levels with the more upscale entry-luxury and luxury models. No, this isn't a luxury car, but the appointments, comfort, performance, style and price make a compelling package. Costs much less than the smaller, heavier, slower but more luxurious Audi A4 Avant 2.0T. Gives the Volvo V50 T5 AWD a run for the money. 2005 VW Passat 4Motion can't compete.

Best Features

Incredible engine with lots of HP and torque propels this light 3,400 lb car; terrific handling for a wagon of its size; nice balance of ride comfort which also provides lots of input for driver with sporting intentions; value price; Subaru reliability; high build quality; cabin comfort.

Worst Features

Needs a 6th gear for MT to improve highway fuel economy; knock-sensor to allow lower octane fuel use; Xenon headlights; stability control system; telescoping steering wheel with radio control buttons; better tires; satellite radio option; power seat memory buttons; full-size spare; oil temp gauge.
