Written by: kiawah on Jun 6, 2007 5:29:48 AM

relantel, Been thinking about your situation some more. What exactly is it that you are asking for from Saturn? What is it in your eyes, is a fair resolution to your situation? Is Saturns' logic on their offer of 15%, that you drove 85K miles of the 100K miles that gets your picture on the dealership wall....therefore you were short 15K miles or 15%? Now I don't know what the actual ... Read More

Written by: relantel on Jun 5, 2007 8:44:11 PM

Kiawah, the vehicle in question had a Saturn Car Care extended warranty until 60k, the max offered for that year, and a recall replacement of the transmission was performed at 72k even though there were no issues with the original one. The timing chain is said to be part of the 90,000 mile scheduled service according to Saturn - an implied warranty that the original should last at least that long. ... Read More

Written by: relantel on Jun 5, 2007 7:31:13 AM

Today is Day 49 in my ongoing fight with Saturn over a broken timing chain at 84,700 miles on our 2001 L200. It broke while the vehicle was in operation on April 17, 2007. I discover after the fact that Saturn had known about the problem for a long time, since well before the vehicle had moved out of the extended warranty period, even as far back as during the model ... I feel your pain on this one I have the same problem sometimes with my 2001 SL2. I bought the car used with not even 30,000 miles on it because people said Saturn built good cars, I was mislead big time. The people at the dealership tell me nothing is wrong and that the car is fine, bull. I thought it was a certain kind of gas I bought, it wasn't ... Read More

There are no stupid questions... I am having the same problems with my saturn L200 2001. Now my engine is heating more but not "overheating" . I have noticed that my engine coolant is low at times and have replaced it several times. I am scared to even use my air. I was hoping that you found out what the problem is.

This might be a stupid question and it probably is but here it goes...anyway, i'm a single mother of two and i have a 2001 saturn L200 and just yesterday i was noticing that my ac would blow warm air out everytime we stopped and when i would take off again the cold air would come out great. What could the problem be.

  • Saturn L200 Manual Transmission Agony

Written by: taxnerd on Mar 1, 2006 2:19:42 PM

I bought my Saturn new in 2001. 4 cylinder with 5 speed stick. 6 months later I drove to Detroit for Thanksgiving (post 9-11). In Indianapolis it would not shift out of 5th as I was going up an exit ramp off the freeway. (It finally shifted out when the engine lugged at the stop sign, and was okay for local driving.) Took it to a dealer in Detroit. Had to ... Read More

If it is just your front brakes it is not hard to do yourself. Go to a auto supply store like PepBoys where you can get the pads and rotors yourself. I'm a 21 year old female and not a big car person, but with my brother helping me, it only took me about 45 minutes to change my front brakes and the cost was extremely minimal, although I didn't have ... Well the dealer is more expensive than an independent shop and yeah, I wouldn't try to turn the rotors after 51K miles either. You might save 30% going to a good private shop but you have to be careful of cheap parts.

Was told by my local Saturn dealer that after 51,000 miles my brakes only had 10% of the original pads. Also, the cost to replace pads and rotors will be $349.00 + tax. I was advised that the rotors cannot be resurfaced and must be replaced.........any comments will be helpful. Thanks, Mark

I've been battling this one for the last few months, and I gotta admit I'm stumped. My wife has noticed a pretty gradual drop in gas mileage for her 2001 SC2 over the last few months. It has about 103,000 miles, and usually gets in the 35-37mpg range on the interstate. About 3 months ago she mentioned her mileage was getting poor and her car was due for a tune-up, so ... Anything can trigger a Check Engine light. It is most likely an O2 sensor, a bad spark plug wire, or any one of the billion sensors on the Saturn SC2. If your gas usage has suddenly gone up and the vehicle is running rough, it’s the O2 Sensor (front or Back), you can replace it for about $70-$90 bucks. It participates in the fuel flow system. My light came on yesterday ... Read More

And the J.D. Power survey's and CR seems to bear this out for most people. I think a Corolla would ultimately be more reliable, but would cost more and wouldn't offer the bang for buck the saturn does. I have a 94 SL2 and a 2001 L300. Love them both, most trouble free cars I have ever had.
