Buddy: We had a 1998 B'ville that started slamming and missing shifts. The first symptom only occurred when turning right AND going slightly uphill. Sounds strange but as it got worse it slammed and shifted very hard after over revving the engine. Took a very bright service foreman at the Pontiac dealer (Same as Buick, Chevy, Caddy) to diagnose the external shift solenoid on the AT. The screens clog up after ... Read More

You probably should look into buying a factory service manual for your Bonneville that is from Helminc.com. These are the ones you got if you ordered from the back page of the glovebox manual. They are on Ebay sometimes: the originals from Helminc.com are around $135 if I recall. You may have a problem with ground at the battery terminal. Check for corrosion. Then check the positive cables. They overlap and ... Read More
I have a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville, recently its as if a ghost took over the interior lighting and the locks. the lights won't go out until the 10 minute timer is up (when the car is off and locked) Also, the locks no longer unlock when you shift into park. Sometimes they will lock by themselves and the interior lights will come on again and won't go off no matter how ... Read More
ATTENTION EVERYONE: if your A/C blows cold but only comes out the defrost or foot vents but not the middle vents this is probably your solution: http://www.imcool.com/articles/aircondition/fix_vacuum_line.php It worked on my 1998 Pontiac Bonneville and using the "Plan B" directions it cost $1.29 to repair, all I needed was about a foot of vacuum line from my local auto-parts store.
I have a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville and I have to start my car and hit the heater motor to turn the heater on. But when im driving it will turn off when i hit a bump or turn on whenever. I never know. And if I leave my car running too long sitting still it over heats. I dont know anything about cars any help would be great. I have two ... Read More
Your Bonneville might not be running as hot as you think. I own a 93 SSEI that at full operating temp looks like it's running at about 225, the needle being just above the mark between 200 & 240. At that point, the secondary fan turns on and it cools off to what looks like 210, then the cycle begins again. If you connect a scanner to the diagnostic port, while ... Read More
i had the fly wheel and the starter changed, the car turns over, but will not start. what do you think the problem is, and where should we start looking. it seems to be something minor.

Evandro-Which issue? My point is- We are talking about 3 different coolant leaks causes. (And the Montana never used a 3.8L engine. The last 3.8 GM Van was the 1995 TransSpot which did not use the Series II that went into the Bonneville.) oldram51--If yours was a gasket leak then why did you repalce $500 worth of Lower Intake Manifold and Upper Intake Manifold (Plenum)? From the info i got, both traction control and remote keyless entry were OPTIONS for the SE model and Standard with the SSE. Try going on the site I have listed below-its for a 1998 SE- listing both standard and optional equipment http://www.autoworld.com/scripts/carprice.asp?28366 If that doesn't work- try going to just Autoworld.com and follow the prompts for a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville SE. That idiotic review in Epinions makes me angry and I don't even own a Bonneville. Wasn't much bigger than a Corolla? Who is that guy kidding... His little tuna can Corolla could probably fit inside the Bonneville. And imagine Pontiac's nerve to think that people would want to change more than just the treble and bass. I'm not sure you can even find aftermarket stereos with just treble/bass controls anymore. And ... Read More
