There is a very good independent repair shop in Rancho Cucamonga that specializes in Jaguars and Fords. Robert is the owner and Kenny is the best Jaguar tech and is factory trained. I don't know if you've received an answer yet but here ya go: I had the same problem with the drive side window. The crunching, crackling sound is the wire fraying. Once the wire is frayed the motor can no longer coil and uncoil the wire which is why the window doesn't move. Anyone have this issue or know exactly what it means? I have a 2002 Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V-6 with the sport mode button and I was driving yesterday and my car odometer now shows a "transmission fault warning" where the mileage is normally displayed? Not sure about '02's - I recently got an '05 S Type and I love it! 3.0 V-6 and irregardless of what car critics may say, the 3.0L V-6 has more than enough power. Hi, 2002 2.5 external gauge permanently reads 52 degrees C. Its affecting the climate control as heating only warms up at 28 degree setting. anybody any ideas how to rectify?

Jaguar needs to step up
Come on Jaguar step up and do something for us on this obvious transmission issue. 2002 with 63,000. Been a great car up until last month. Then engine coil, coolant reserve tank and now the trans is gone. Dealer said, "if you'd just waited 1 more year and got a 2003, they fixed all the issues". Wow, thanks.

I have a 2002 S-Type 2.5 and after 112000km, (the warranty and insurance dropped out at 100K) the auto transmission started going "klunk" when shifting from 2->1. Manually shifting from Drive to Neutral at each stoplight avoided the problem. I took it in for service (Upsala Sweden) and there was no record in the car computer of out-of-limit behavior. If you took the car to them about the transmission problem before the warranty expired and they didn't fix it, you should be able to get them to pay if you either take them to court or talk to Jaguar customer service.

I test drove one, and was very impressed. I've never driven a 2000-2002 S-Type, however, I can't say how it stacks up. The up side: It's a fast fun-to-drive car. The engine and transmission are smooth as silk. That ZF tranny provides wonderfully smooth shifts with very little lag. Is based on the Ford Mondeo platform and is basically the same size as a Mondeo. It will be available at your Jaguar dealers sometime this June. I believe the formal introduction date is June 22nd.
