I have a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon (53,000 miles) that was just taken into dealership with Clutch and Flywheel problems. Both are not covered under warranty. I have also had to replace the steering wheel rack at 42,000 miles. Very costly repairs. Has anyone else had clutch problems with their 2005 Tiburons?
When I originally bought this car I couldn't say enough good things about it. I love the growl it makes when you start it up and it handles really well. I have the GT maodel with a V6 207 litre engine. A few months ago the car refused to start, I had it flat bedded to my dealer using their towing service. They determined the problem to be a bad starter ... Read More
I owned a 2001 eclipse and currently drive a 2005 tiburon. I think they were acutally pretty close in power even though the Tibs stats don't show it. I do believe that the eclipse got significantly better gas milage, but that was the last Gen.
Who said you're considering a lemon? Whatever glitches there were with the 2003 Tiburon, it's history, unless of course, you have also heard that there were glitches with 2004, 2005, 2006, and now 2007. I suspect you haven't. Think all the good things you want to about Toyota, but sometimes when cars get a reputation, they stretch it, along with your billfold. And next thing you know, a person is no ... Read More

Really interesting. After reading all of the posts about this stupid car, the "2003 tiburon", I realized that once my front brakes went out twice, the 6-spd tranny went out, then the front windshield started leaking into the infinity stereo, which then stopped working only to send a screeching sound every once in a while all on its own, next the sunroof broke, oh, and the clutch went out as well, ... I had an 03 tiburon gt and everything was great for about 20 K miles, then I had all the same problems that every one else is talking about: clutch, door locks, rattling, etc... I traded it for the 05 Tiburon V6 Special Edition. This is a much nicer car, built a lot stronger. I wrote a two page letter to the dealer explaining that this is my third hyundai and ... Read More
Hi jhpmicheal, Greetings from Australia, I have been reading the stories about the faulty clutches on Tiburons with interest. I have a 2003 V6 6spd and and the reason I am looking at the forum is that my clutch has also failed. My car has travelled 95000km which I think translates to around 60000 miles, I thought that was a ridiculously short life for a clutch. The trouble started when I ... Read More
this news was confirmed at the Seoul Motor Show 2005. a high level hyundai representative surprised journalist by actually admitting that there was indeed a rwd sports car in developement. they want to create a 'halo' car to increase the awareness of hyundai as well as to create younger generation hyundai fans. we should be seeing more concepts of this vehicle in motor shows in 2006 and see the car debut ... After reading all the problems with the clutch assembly in the Tiburon I felt compelled to add my story the list. My son and I purchased a 2003 Tiburon new in July of 2003. He is a soldier and in October of that year he was deploed to Iraq. The car sat until his return in March of 2004. In June 2004 his clutch went. Only 15000 miles on the car. ... Read More
I posted message 378 & 380. I think you have the same problem I had. Stand your ground! I am convinced there is a major defect/problem with most of the 2003 to 2005 Tiburons. The cluth assembly seems to be the problem. I over heard two sales persons talking while I was waiting for an oil change once. The conversation went something like this; "I don't know what's wrong with ... Read More
on New World Order Hyundai Tiburon coupe color possibilities. I like to take in all that I can about a particular car before heading to the showroom so it's all helpful information. The black cloth interior should be fine if I buy a Tib for the "Show Me State" of Missouri. Of course, I'm guessing that the GT V6 5-speed comes with cloth black interior in the low # of option ... on this site and I also remember that you weren't overly critical of Hyundai and Kia. Smart person! They're the best thing going in the automotive world right now. It's looking like I'm heading to the Ozark area to train for my next job. Hummm...I've got a 2001 Kia Sportage 4x4 with only 49,000 miles that's running like a top. I love it but also love the new-generation Hyundai Tiburon. So ... Read More
