  Honda still has work to do on the head restraints, though. The Fit scores Poor: http://www.iihs.org/ratings/head_restraints/headrestraints.aspx?honda The Element was Poor until the 2007 model, when it improved notably to a Good score.

  Honda Fit safety, from the Insurance Institute: http://www.iihs.org/ratings/ratingsbyseries.aspx?id=593 Good and Good (highest ratings) on front-offset and side impacts. The front offset test is weight dependent, it assumes crashing into an equal weight vehicle. The side test is weight INdependent, it assumes a crash into all vehicles from a light pickup truck, which is a more demanding test that the NHTSA test (which uses a passenger car height crash sled).   Micweb: 1) The reason the gas MPG are lower is do to that the Element's areodynamics are quite different than the CR-V's (if you couldn't tell). It is a box. 2) Yeah the backseats are uncomfortable but the functionality of them kind of make them that way. (ex.   LOL, my post got deleted. Stay away from Wolfchase Honda of Bartlett, TN - LX AWD listed at $23,xxx before tax, internet manager (Heather) is rude and incompetent. Apparently, Element is coming to an end if dealers started to charge more than MSRP for some models

  I am a Honda dealer in the Minneapolis area. I did a quick search for a 2009 Element LX 4WD in my internal Honda locater for the following states: AL, TN, GA and MS. When I bought my end of season '08, they had about 5 '09 models on the ground in all the trim lines at Bob Howard Honda here in Oklahoma City. In my experience the volume dealers (the ones who sell more cars) are likely to have a larger supply of Elements (its my understanding that they are given "x" number Elements for "x" number of the good selling cars ...   Yes there will be an 09 Element. Info is coming later. Some new features include a Touch screen Radio/Navigation system, Bluetooth, and the USB port.

  I looked at the Element yearly - I like it's all business functionality - and came close to buying one in March but (lucky me, with the gas price spike) got the Fit instead. Why? 1.   It's really hard to update a car with an iconic look to it. It was the same way with the PT Cruiser and the New Beetle - very long life cycles for stand-out designs.

  Not too many changes. Honda is thinking of just putting some cool stuff like a version of the Fit/CRV/Civic Navigation system in it. So the Element will go on for another year. Some other changes might happen as well. Just another year for the element. No info on a 2nd gen Element.

  Well they just gave it a refresh and the SC so i think they'll be around for 2 years before they update the whole model. The new refresh looks great and the addition of the SC is cool too. I have an element and i like the refresh version. and honda usually has a refresh out for 2 years before an all new model, so i think 2009.

  I think that the new 2009 Element is going to be like the Honda CrossRoad. I did some research last night, and I hate to say it, but I thik it is going to be.
