2009 GMC Acadia lunges forward at 60 mph
Written by: cj_needsafix on Jan 30, 2013 7:35:58 AM
I bought my Acadia used in 2011 and it's been great until now. When I get to speeds near 60 mph and up the car often makes a feeling like its lunging forward in short bursts. Scary considering I'm on a busy highway. Problem not constant, but will happen at least 3-4 times on a short 20 minute highway drive. No dash lights come on to indicate any problems when this ... First and Last GMC for us
Written by: keheitmann on Jan 22, 2013 1:16:33 PM
Unbelievable! There are 98 pages here! We bought our 2008 Acadia in September 2007. A lot of the same issues I am seeing here. Turning the car off and pulling the key out and it would keep running, steering gear replacement in Aug 2011, water pump in Aug 2012 and as of yesterday the "wave plates" and "wave housing". Let's not talk about the costs for towing, hotel, rental car, etc... ... Read More

Too bad you can't buy cars from Wal Mart and just bring it back receipt in hand !!!! yes and I forgot to mention that it ended up back after 2 or 3 days from ... Read More

2011 Acadia Falling Apart Due to Subpar Craftsmanship
Written by: deedee78 on Jan 15, 2013 11:02:33 AM
I bought my Acadia in September of 2011. I was back at the dealer before the end of Septemeber. It has only 21000 miles on it and the power steering fluid had to be replaced. It would grind like metal on metal before this change. It has an annoying rattle on the drivers side of the car. That can not be identified. They have changed speakers, reinforced insulation everything they can ... Read More

"Reduced engine power" problems are typically related to the throttle body or gas pedal cable. Other GM vehicles also have this problem. For example, check out the Impala forums for this problem. Good luck.

2011 GMC Acadia
Written by: todd_jodie on Jan 13, 2013 7:56:12 PM
We bought our 2011 GMC Acadia about a year and a half ago. In the last couple of months we have been experiencing problems with it. We keep getting the "engine power is reduced" message, then the vehicle stalls and wont start until it has been left for at least 20 minutes. I took it to the service department and the first time it went in they said that there was ... Read More

I have been a long time GM owner, still own my 1998 Chev pick up with over 215,000 miles on it. I currently drive a 2011 Impala, and my wife used to drive a 2007 GMC Acadia. That is until about a week and a half ago. Since then she has been using my mother's car. Apparently the engine went out. 108,000 miles, and 6 months over the warranty. So I ... Read More

Certified Pre-Owned Tire and Brake Pad condition

Today I was told that I have to replace all four tires and brake pads, and replace the front rotors on my 2008 GMC Acadia SLT, which I purchase August 2011. I'm looking at my Certified Pre-Owned 172-Point inspection report and my tire treads depths were 7, 6, 7, and 5 /32nds. My brake pad thicknesses were 5, 8, 4, and 8 mm. Malfunction Indicator Light on 2011 GMC Acadia Denali AWD
Written by: stohome on Apr 27, 2012 4:52:33 PM
Has anyone experienced a problem with the Malfunction Indicator Light (the one that looks like an engine) staying on, even after maintenance? I purchased a 2011 GMC Acadia Denali AWD new from my local dealership in May 2011. Some people do get good mpg right out of the gate. Others take a while but at least the mpg should be trending upward as the vehicle breaks in. The info centers have gotten pretty accurate but I'd manually check 4 or 5 tanks too. From what I've read, the EPA testing is pretty rigorous even though the conditions are still well controlled by the testing lab. That same "EPA testing" ... Read More

I agree that it doesn't sound right, however, I took it back to the dealership today to have it checked a second time. The Driver Info Center MPG currently reads 13.9 and the service manager says that "there is nothing wrong and this gas mileage is to be expected". How many miles do you have on it? Many new cars take several thousand miles before the mpg starts to get in line with the EPA estimates. My last new car didn't start hitting its stride until ~10,000 miles.
