hi i had the same thing happen to my 04 f250 6.0 i had a EGR cooler delete installed. this is such a common problem that there is a delete kit for the EGR cooler/valve. i think the cooler is leaking water into the injectors and that is causing the white smoke(steam) i would not replace the cooler but instead i would have a delete kit put in. it is about ... Hi. I'm very sorry about your troubles. I'm not a mechanic. I have a 200 F 250 with 380,000 and had a similar problem 3 weeks ago. I had just gotten diesel at a small gas station. Before we left the station my truck was weezing, coughing, almost no idle, white smoke, and tiny small internal explosions. I bought diesel fuel conditioner, transmission fluid, water remover, and poured it all in. ... Read More
I was researching my problem and noticed your post. On June 27th we were returning from a trip and our 2003 F250 SD with the 6.0 began rattling and shaking and putting out white smoke (at least it looked white in the available light at 4:00 a.m.). We had it towed into Salina, KS to the dealership. They eventually told us the valves were burned on the number 4 cylinder along ... Read More
Hello, I would love to get your contact information and what you did in your situation. My husband and I were on our way home to Pensacola, Fl from North Carolina. We began having problems on our way to NC. Had the fuel filter changed in NC then decided to take a detour to SC. Good thing we did, the tail pipe began blowing black and white smoke, then started making ... Read More
I have a 2003 F250 with the 6.0L. 62k miles, serviced religiously. Very few problems until last week when a bolt broke on a piston rod and destroyed the entire block. A total freak accident according to the dealer. They, the dealer, gave me a quote of $15,000 for a replacement engine. That's 15 with three zeros! Just insane. Still not sure what I'm going to do. Anyone have a similar ... Read More
You can change out the IAC on your own. Hope you have some sort of work stand or ladder - it's hard to get to while standing on the ground (at least with my 4x4). Recommend buying the Helm shop manual: http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2.asp?class%5F2=FCT&mk=Ford+%26+Lincoln+Mercu- ry&yr=2003&md=F%2D250+Pickup&dt=Shop%2FService+Information&module=&from=result&S- tyle=&Sku=FCS1210703&itemtype=N&mscsid=SDDBHQW5PDDW8PU2JN7VP6GW1TB6EA67 They're expensive but well worth it.
When I took my truck in for its first check-up, I mentioned that the radio was popping on AM and asked if I should be concerned because I didn't want it to catch fire. http://www.edmunds.com/maintenance/recalltsb.do?step=recall&y- ear=2003&make=Ford&model=F-250+Super+Duty&style=4dr+C- rew+Cab+XL+4WD+SB+%285.4L+8cyl+6M%29&zip=92508&synpartner- =edmunds&tid=edmunds.g..mnt.step2.8.Ford*#1 He told me it was nothing to worry about... I currently own a 2002 Chevrolet 2500HD Crew Cab with the Duramax Diesel engine. I am considering trading this in for a 2003 Ford F250 Super Duty Crew Cab for a number of reasons. One is that my company participates in the Ford X-Plan. The biggest reason is that I like the higher stance that the Fords seem to have over the Chevrolets. My last three trucks were Chevys and, while ... Read More
