    I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus SE...ok i was driving home from work then my car started slowing down and it eventually stopped...i tried to start it back up but it would turn over but nothing else...my lights and everything else are still working it just wont start...anyone know what this could possible be

    After months with same problem finally I could pinpoint this problem!!!!, in some way cable harness become damaged with a very sharp corner of fuel rail on one of the cables of camshaft positions sensor, I'd remove all tape from harness on this corner (Just where the sensor cables go in to the harness) I check for damage and found one of the cables punctured, so when engine vibation was severe ...     hey sigmaman, my '04 horn did the same thing while driving in a heavy rain. finally i just hit the horn for 20 or so seconds and that blew the water out of it. try that if u still have the old horn still on your car! ;)

    2004 dodge stratus 2.4L identify part please gear that holds the timing belt, while replacing timing belt my son broke some teeth off this gear. I assume it's the upper cam gear, is this correct? need to identify to purchase replacement. please advise

    A little while later my timing chain broke and when we fix that it stop doing the other so I guess it was the timing

    Hi, did you ever find out a solution to this problem? I've replaced my sensor twice, and with no results so I put the old one back on, after slightly wiping off the end of the cam and it seemed to help for a bit but I am having the problems again.. any help will help. thank you

    i had the same prob. disconnect battery for 10 minutes, this will reset the computer. You can try this. if it doesnt work then check your EGR vaulve. Or the throtle positioning sensor. some times it takes the computer a while to relearn itself. hope this helps..........

    Bad ignition wires are common on the Stratus, even fail while still under warranty.

    I had same thing on my o4 stratus. After they replaced ignit cable (plug wires), it has been fine. :)

    I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus V6 2.7 Litre. Bought it with 18,000 miles on it. Now at 32,000 miles, when coming to a complete stop the engine runs smooth for about 20 seconds then it starts to idle rough. It doesn't happen when the engine is cold, but only after it is warmed up. Is this common? Any advise would be much appreicated. Thank You,

    How does your # 30 do at -20 F, talk about ruining an engine real fast, the oil pump will not pickup the oil and will burn out all the bearings. Change the oil every 1k , what a waste in a modern fuel injected engine. :)

    You are absolutely right. Driving in a mud puddle caused mine to do the same thing. How can you avoid that? I've considered relocating the horn entirely.

    I only use a high quality 30 weight oil (one with detergent). The mileage will decrease slightly, but the engine will last at least twice as long. The maker can not tell you that because they need to specify the multiweight oil to keep their epa mileage figures high enough to pass muster under fed law.     Sigmaman, engines die for lack of fuel, air or spark. If the problem was oil loss, you might wind up with a 700 pound paperweight under the hood. Go to the NHTSA.gov website and see what recalls and complaints are registered by other owners of your model. Intermittent stalling leads me to check electrical first and fuel system second.     Pensfan, symptons are fuel/ fuel pump issue. Go to the NHTSA.gov website. Look at vehicle recalls. Dodge has issued 2 recalls on fuel pumps, connectors and tubing for the 2004 Stratus and is sister car, Sebring. The Wheelman

    I don't think you should be worrying about the oil pressure light. You need to look into why the engine is cutting off. And the oil viscosity has nothing to do with that. You have some other problem going on here.
