Did you ever figure out what was going on with your lights? my 1999 model is doing the exact same thing. Thank You.
I have a 1999 dodge grand caravan and it sux! Woke up one day and the damn thing wouldnt start! Changed starter, battery and a/c pulley. Car now starts but will not engage into gear. Shifter moves but car does not disengage from park, any ideas? I was thinking a shift solenoid but not sure. not good with cars myself.
I have a 1999 T & C with 155+k. I have maintained the tranny but not as often as I should. Never had any problems except to "retrain" it recently. I just bought a 02 Dodge Grand Caravan with 83k and autostick. The engine light came on yesterday and limp mode engaged. I just took it to my mechanic today and he said the scan showed up a faulty TCM. I ... Read More
I had the same problem with my 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.0 L engine. I ended up replacing the throttle position sensor and that solved the problem. Might work for you. Regards, John H.
I want to post this in case anyone is looking for positive feedback on Grand Caravans, model year 1999. (Mine was made in Windsor, Canada.) I bought it "pre-owned" with 24K on it -- it was a fleet vehicle that came to a local Dodge dealership. I compete actively in the sport of dog agility; because of this, I drive alone with my dogs far more than the average number of ... Read More
frogger123 bravely asked for a flurry of opinion: "Does this Forum think that Castrol is one of the best Dino oils?" Who knows? Once upon a time, Castrol, as a European oil, was one of the few oils whose cans indicated it passed obscure European and Japanese test requirements that were more severe (due to overhead cam designs and higher rpm) than those for American cars (due to cam-in-block ohv designs ... Q. I have a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.3 liter engine. Automatic transmission with about 122,000 miles own it for nearly 5 yrs. With an alarm, over the past month, this problem has happened six times. I go to start the car, and when I turn the key, to the run position, the instrument panel DOES have power, the temperature gauge, fuel gauge, speedometer, tachometer, odometer and shift letters ... My 1999 Grand Caravan would stall intermittently also. After a fair amount of diagnostic work, at no charge by the dealer, it was found to be a faulty engine computer module. Simply jumpering past this module and then replacing it, allowed th car to start again. The modules costs ~$400 but it was covered by my Federal Emissions Warranty, even though my 7/70 warranty had run out. Good Luck, Ken
MY van is a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport, now with 81000 miles. It has been more reliable than my other much more expensive cars from "premium" brands. It is still my vehicle of choice for long journeys. The only repairs covered under warranty were the battery vacuum tray and the EGR valve. Otherwise, I have routinely maintained it, perhaps fairly meticulously, and it has rewarded my family with cheap, reliable ... Read More
I have a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. While driving it one day not far from homeit jerked twice and the transmision blew up.Parts flew out of the bell housing on to the road. It did'nt have 40,000 miles yet.I know that the warranty ran out at 36,000 I contacted Chryslers help line. They wanted the original reciept, sounded fishy,I copied it at Kinkos and sent it off.Chrysler got back to me ... Read More

My 1999 Dodge Caravan just starting having a fuel gauge malfunction. After filling the tank the fuel gauge was all over the place and then the chime and low fuel indicator light comes on every 10 seconds. Having it looked into.
I have a 2002 dodge grand caravan and it had to be towed to the car dealership because it was losing power and making a whistle sound when I stepped on the gas. They told me they had to take the transmission apart and see what the problem is. They said the torche converter was broken off the engine, it needed a front pump and overhaul kit. Cost $1900. I have ... Read More
Our rear door is stuck in the lock position and we can not get it open. and also the check engine soon light is in the on position and they have told us there is nothing wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Agree. My 2002 T&C LX door locks do not recess like the door locks formerly did in the 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE; there is no carpet on the front doors between the armrest and the window; no carpet at the bottom of the front doors; the ignition switch no longer has the luminous ring around it in 2002 vs 1999. These deletions are not smart if DC wants to keep ... Read More
I have a 1999 Grand Caravan 3.3 liter. It has rough idle only when vehicle is in drive or reverse. Idles smoothly in Park or Neutral. Engine runs smoothly during driving and acceleration. There is no "Check Engine Light" or trouble codes stored in the engine controller. Any idea ?
We have a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. Recently it began pulling to the right. We went to have it aligned and the guy said it was torque steer or pull. The dealership told us they had never heard of this problem. We took it to a local mechanic who replaced broken motor mounts thinking that was the problem. After trying everything he could think of and $540.00 later the problem is ... Read More
I have to agree with dmathews3 about DC. In the past I have owned a 1991 Gr Caravan and have had a 1994 all wheel drive at work. I presently own a 1999 Grand Caravan ES and it will be the last. The others had their problems but it seemed the folks at Dodge were more open and willing to help. The 1991 went 185000 miles but got too expense to ... Read More
Well, I tried to give Chrysler a fair shake. I bought a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport new in '99. The trans had to be rebuilt under warranty at 32,000 miles last September. It currently has 36,167 mile on it. I had it to the dealer last week to cover concerns I had under the warranty before it expired at 36,000 miles. Today the wife comes home and the check engine ... After researching all the minivan offerings, I purchased a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan about 6 weeks ago. To my wife ane I, no other van came close to the rock solid feel of the Dogde. I was concerned about transmission problems, but could find no real data that gives the Dodge a worse rating than others. Several negative articles were so biased, I totally discounted their value in our decision. We ... Read More
Believe it or not, you know why most of the 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan has zero problems for at least 25,000 miles, is because DaimlerChrysler in the US hired some Toyota workers, from Kentucky, to build Caravans for only 8 months. DaimlerChrysler is doing that because they want to find out if Chrysler minivans ran a design problem or manufacturing problem. After 8 months, DaimlerChrysler found out it was the ... Read More
The Caravan and Voyager are exactly the same if you compare them side by side with the same option group and options...except for grilles, side trim on some and a few logos. Grand Caravan is same as T&C in certain trim levels. T&C can be equipped to be MORE luxurious than GC. I actually think the Voyager and Town & Country have more attractive grilles than Caravan and Grand Caravan. We ... Read More
If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the Odyssey LX and Toyota Sienna LE have the same black strips or moldings along the side that you are talking about? If I'm not mistaken, you have to move up to the Odyssey EX, Toyota Sienna XLE, Dodge Grand Caravan EX, the Dodge Grand Caravan ES, or ANY of the Town & Country's to get body colored moldings. Also I believe the 1999 Dodge Grand ... Read More
As 2001 Grand Caravan Sport looks cheaper than my 1999 GC SE and has no Trip Computer option and a narrow, cheap rub strip on the side. It pisses me off that Dodge was so cheap to take off the ... Read More

I have been up for hours reading through the horror stories about the Caravans.
