same problem (instrument gauges)
Written by: dragonstunna on Jul 19, 2010 9:08:06 PM
i have a 2004 chevy trailblazer that i bought about 2 years ago. everything works great except for the most simple and important feature, the gauges on the dash. the tachometer goes crazy, the oil pressure gauge is off the chart, the battery gauge reads 0 sometimes and the speedometer works when it wants to. now, a car less than 10 years old and under 100,000 miles should not have this ... Trailblazer 2004 spedometer problem
Written by: maggie8656 on Feb 18, 2010 1:31:49 PM
I was driving on I-77 today when I noticed my speedometer was showing 90 MPH and I know I was not driving that fast. I checked out the Edmunds website to see if anyone else was having this problem and read the other messages. I tried the starting and restarting; after about 5 restarts the indicator finally went to 0. I plan on calling Chevy loaded with the information I have ... Read More

Follow up...
Written by: ehoffbuhr on Apr 8, 2009 6:15:57 PM
So here's a follow up for the previous post... I talked to to the dealer AND the Chevy customer support line, and both places denied that the Trailblazer was eligible to be fixed for free. I told them that I was literally staring at an attorney's website that explicitly states every 2004 Trailblazer owner with less than 70k miles will get the cluster fixed FREE.....and they both said there was no ... It turns out it is real and the case has been closed....WE WON! GM/Chevy lost the case and ALL OWNERS IN THE UNITED STATES are covered for this problem! Here are the links to the attorneys involved and ... Read More

Cluster Panel doesn't work
Written by: dunwithgm2day on Mar 13, 2009 6:41:33 AM
Here I am writing about the same thing as the rest of you, just hoping the more people read this, the less likely they are to buy GM products. My cluster panel went out, speedometer and tachometer no longer work. I was able to contact someone at Chevy who gave me the impression they were going to fix the problem. I was instructed to take it to the dealer for a ... Read More

I want to thank you all for your post. I took the advise given. My 04 Trailblazer has the cluster panel virus also. I called GM and spoke to Sue, she advised had to go to local Chevy Dealership and have it diagnosed, cost $92. Once this was done I was to call her back and she would call the dealership and see if they could help with the cost of ... Read More

They are slow in sending out recall reminders. In fact I only got an inquiry as a result of my asking another question. What you have to do is actually log onto mygmlink and browse around. That's where I found the info, not from them sending me a notice. On the other hand, tblazed was having a heck of a time, they were sending multiple notices of recalls he had previoulsy ... Read More

Even though this is a 2004, it does sound like the same problem I had on my '02. They replaced the circuit boards and bulb. It may help te dealership to know that the service bulliten came out before the recall did. I had mine fixed before the recall under warranty.

With the recall, GM only replaced the sockets and the board the sockets were attached to, as that was the problem.

I have my trailblazer registered on the GM Link but I haven't received any recall notices yet. I know my car is one that must have a recall. I have replaced the lights bulbs like 2 or 3 times and all of a sudden they stop working. I've taken my car to the agency twice and told them of the problem. The first time they didn't do anything and I didn't ... Read More

If you register your vehicle on My GM Link I think it will show what recalls are valid for your VIN. There was a tail light notice on my 03 Envoy that stated there was 6 yr. coverage on the tail lights..... and I've had my replaced as part of the recall. The notice covered 02-04 vehicles. Are your bulbs failing or what is the dealer doing when you take it ... Read More

I also called Customer Service and was asked for the last digits on the vin #, I was told the last digits on the vin number of my car are not included on the recall. Why not call the GM customer service 800 number? Do you only have one Chevy dealership in your area? If not, take it to another Chevy dealership. If a part was replaced, it should have been stated so on the repair order. I could be incorrect, but I don't think burnt out tail lamps makes the TB a lemon, yet.

If you've been waiting to buy from GM ...

To boost sales, GM is once again cutting prices. They are now offering employee pricing on all vehicles except the Corvette and GMC medium duty trucks. So, for those of you who have been wanting to buy a new Chevrolet Trailblazer/GMC Envoy, here is your chance. They are also offering incentives on top of that. Luckily the third quarter is only 3 weeks away. Remember, unless you are in a small town somewhere, you are not locked into one dealer. Call up several. I'd print out everything I could about the recall and take the copies to the dealer. While the following article doesn't specificially say GM will pay for it before the third quarter, it says GM advises anyone having troubles not to wait for ... Read More

Wanted: TB owners in AZ
Written by: azbound on Mar 24, 2004 6:57:37 AM
Am moving to AZ soon. Am considering a 2004 or 2003 Chevy TrailBlazer 4x4 (LS or LT). Would like feedback on TB performance on mountain grades; while towing (such as a Kawasaki mule and trailer, or medium size travel trailer); and on AZ's "scenic" high-clearance-only back roads. How does TB compare to Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (6-cyl) in these performance areas?

Picked up my 2004 Envoy SLT (MSRP $40,900) about a month ago. Dealer seemed to want to move vehicles. Put on about 1K miles on it. So far so good. I have had very good luck with GM vehicles in the past and being a supplier to GM did not hurt on the price. Vehicle seems to have a good amount of zip. Gas mileage only around 15MPG in town and ...
