Does it usually throw a code for the cam sensor then? Yes. Once your code indicates a bad cam sensor, it should still be checked with a graphing meter. However, thats expensive and the sensor is probably only 45.00. No relearn needed. Once a cam signal is seen by the PCM it will fire the injecters. Spray a liberal amount of carb cleaner into the throttle body, then try and start it. If it starts briefly there is a fuel delivery problem. Pressure at the rail checks ok, so injecters are not firing. Most likely cause is a bad cam sensor. Other causes are an open circut from the oil pressure sending unit, security issue. If you have a security light on your dash that says security. ... Read More

Hello All: I have a smoke colored Lund Trident Bug Deflector that is brand new - never been used - although I did open the box - for sale. I got this one by mistake when I ordered one for my 2000 Yukon. This one is for the 1999-2001 Silverado 1500 or the 2000-2001 Suburban/Tahoe -- it does not fit the GMC models (Yukon/XL/Sierra) -- that one is slightly different because ... Read More

  • Reliability of Chevy Silverado 1500 P/U and Extended Warranty

I just purchased a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 4.9L and automatic trans. A plain truck with very limited additional items. I am wondering, it is worth to purchase a extended service plan. The dealer is asking $1400 for bumper-to-bumper coverage, 100,000 miles/7 years. (4 additional years to factory warranty). This is my first truck and would like anyone's experience with GM/Chevy trucks.

I am about to buy a Silverado 1500 CT 2001 and am hearing about a Silverado 1500 ID 2001 that is a club cab instead of an extended cab. Has anyone heard of this? I can't find info at chevrolet.com about this truck, size differences, engine differences, etc. Thanks ahead of time. Rick

Getting very close to purchasing a new 2001 Silverado 1500. Asked about the extended warranty options available, cost, etc. I was surprized to find the the Chevy dealer uses "Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc.". The brochure which lists the "Silver", "Gold" and "Platinium" coverage doesn't have anything in it specific to GM. The Company is licensed in Florida. Anybody had good or bad experiences with this company? Is there a GM connected ... Read More

I just recently bought a 2001 chevy silverado 1500 with a 4.3L V6 Vortec engine with a 4 speed automatic transmission. I am wondering if my truck has a problem or not. When I accelerate to get on the highway, my transmission shifts 4 times. When it shifts to the final gear and at 65 miles per hour, my RPM are at 1500. To accelerate on the highway quickly, I have ... Read More

Tried to post yesterday but it doesn't appear here. Maybe I was in the wrong site. I have a 2001 V-6 2wd Xcab with 3.73 rear end, 1800 mi.. I've been getting a vibration as the tranny shifts under low load conditions, felt mosty through the gas pedal. Dealer said it was because the torque lock up was engaging too soon causing the engine to shudder under the strain. Needs re-calibrating, ... Read More

As some of you know I had Chevy buyback a 2000 1500 2wd Xcab LS short bed auto 4.8 355 limited slip Silverado due to highway shake. It also had the harsh feedback through the steering wheel when hitting bumps at speed. I rented a truck last week and they gave me my exact truck, except it was a 2001, no limited slip, and had a 5.3 engine; had a 10/00 ... Read More

jmincher, I paid $28,435 + tax, license, etc. In other words.... the final total was $31,526. I got just about every option available for a 1500 LS. Guys at the Chevrolet dealer were surprised to see a new two-tone Silverado come in. They hadn't seen one in 6 or 7 months.
